Album Description

Instrumental trio Green Light is drummer Adam Snow, bassist Dustin Hofsess, and guitarist Kevin Gill. This is a band that is coming from many different places musically. As a result, the Green Light audience is made up of an interesting variety of people: jazzers and rockers, the folky and the funky, hippies and computer programmers, the drunk and the devout... Each of them finds something about Green Light's music that draws them into the swirling vortex of energy that this band creates.

The group draws from a deep well of influences. Some key points of departure are: the spirituality, intense energy, and exploratory improvisation of saxophone master John Coltrane; the raw blues-rock power, and psychedelic colors of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd; the funky rhythmic tension and down- home soul of the Meters and Sly & the Family Stone; the groundbreaking jazz/rock/funk fusion of Miles Davis; the beautiful reggae grooves of Bob Marley & the Wailers. As well as drawing inspiration from these relatively well known artists, Green Light infuses their music with sounds from all over the globe, including African, Indian, Middle Eastern, Cuban, and Brazilian musical elements.

very very melodic, the jams are eccentric in a good mellow, fasinating way that captivates you and almost holds you in the music not letting you turn it off or down. the musicianship is superb. i would most deffinantly recommend getting this cd if you are any fan of music at all, you will not be let down i promise. the three in the band know what they are doing and know how they are doing it. you will not get tired of them. the media reviews are not misleading at all latin, jazz, african, cuban, its all there in the music. music lovers beware... you may have just found your new favorite band

At the Desert's Edge offers recordings of new concert literature for percussion and clarinet. Some of their most popular concert works have been collected together into their new CD: At the Desert's Edge. Featured are compositions written for them by Glenn Hackbarth and Norbert Goddaer as well as works from the standard literature by Libby Larsen, Robert Schietroma, Ed Miller, and Chester Mais. There are three versions of "Going Home"; one for clarinet and stereo tape, one for clarinet accompanied by vibraphone, electric piano, and electric bass and another developed by J. B. Smith which utilizes computer controlled audio files of the piano and bass parts.

Boris Mourashkin's music is like nothing else I've ever heard. It's busy, yet relaxing. It's discordant, yet pretty. Rarely does one find music that is so different from anything one has ever heard before. I don't believe the hype about this music's healing power. Good music doesn't need to have any special powers beyond the pleasure it brings. But if it does "keep the doctor away," I'll be most grateful.

The Best Mourashkin Healing Music CD.......2000-10-08

This CD is definitely one of the best self-healing CD's out there, and is in many ways surpasses the "Bio-Energetic Psychotropic Music" 2-CD set that was also produced by Boris Mourashkin.

I find this CD works best when I wish to enter a meditative state but my mind is too agitated or angry or depressed for a more conventional soothing music CD. The first part of the CD is very dynamic and energizing (and definitely wierd sounding!) The second half of the CD gradually becomes more calming and soothing, lulling me into a silent space.

The first (dynamic and wierd) part of the CD is necessary for me when I am in a depressed state to energize the mind, vent mental frustration, etc. so that the way is prepared to jump into the soothing 2ND half.

I would recommend this CD for anyone, and especially those dealing with emotional trauma.

I'm an interior designer and artist who loves to paint. Mourashkin's "Bio-Energetic Psychotropic" music puts the magic in my brush strokes. This music is a powerful creative tool. Abstract painting has always been difficult for me, but with Bio-Energetic Psychotropic music playing while I paint, my hand is mysteriously guided to create magical images on canvas. My creativity has conquered new horizons! I'm happy to share this powerful creative tool. I highly recommend all of Mourashkin's Bio-Energetic Psychotropic music. The healing music of Boris Mourashkin has changed my life forever. I have been working with this music now for three years, and it has been a journey back to the person that I was, the person inside who is filled with love. My life had been filled with hopeless dispair, I was going no where. These three years have been a voyage into the emotionally abused woman I was, and showed me how to free my soul, and love the person I am. I know that is a stong statement, but it is true. This music is filled witht the sounds of the universe and took me back to the innocent child I was, helped me embrace her, and accept the woman I am today. Listening to the music of Boris Mourashkin is a journey into the center of who you are... The elements of nature help to heal the body, mind, and soul. While listening to this music I was taken on inner journeys that helped me to heal the pain I was in, both physical and mental. I now run a thriving business on Long Island. My creativity was enhanced, my heart found the love it has always known was there.
