Named after the Celtic goddess of inspiration, the duo of Renée Gray and Andrew Fryer that is Ceredwen debuts with a CD that is at once energetic, introspective, and ethereal. Inspired by the mabinogi or oral stories passed down from ancient Celtic tribes, Ceredwen interestingly mesh the modern sounds of keyboards, drum machines, and heavily processed vocals with piano, pennywhistle, and percussion to bring forth a unique, rhythmic brand of Celtic music. Gray sings in Welsh, which gives the songs a timeless flavor, though on some tunes ("Fel Yr Eira" or "Like the Snow") the heavy effects detract from her pretty voice. There are also a few songs that take a little too long in getting going, but overall the album will well please fans of Enigma or modern Celtic music. --Karen Karleski

"O'r Mabinogi is full of enchanting vocals, infectious rhythms and sparkling instrumental work. Many of the songs are uptempo with a myriad of percussion and rhythms - some may even entice you to get up and dance....an album brimming over with originality and musical daring."

This is a wonderful cd, and the delivery was quick and easy.
Thanks so much

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2006-03-03

I first heard 2 songs off this album on a Sampler cd for Real Music when I was working in a book store. I don't know much about music, but I certainly know what I like and I was in tears, listening over and over again to those 2 songs before I went out and bought the CD...That was 6 years ago and this CD remains one of my all time favorites!! I can't recall EVER hearing music so moving. This has to be the most "hauntingly beautiful" music I have ever heard. Truly Amazing!

5 out of 5 stars My Wedding March.......2005-11-22

My Husband and played Lady of the Flowers for our wedding march on August 31, 2003 at The Lords Chapel in Winchester, VA. My Husband is of Scottish heritage from UK and upon our first meeting in America, I new he was the one for me. Shortly after our wedding, I lost a CD case and this CD was inside. I am so glad that I found it again. This CD holds so much memory of such a loving day that continues to this day, and I hope it always will. Sincerely, Kelly S. Dunlop

5 out of 5 stars A good Celtic album :).......2004-03-24

Excellent album! Simple rhythm with rich elements inside each song. Everyone who is interested in the World music (or Celtic music more specifically) would love this one!

5 out of 5 stars Sensational Celtic sound and feel.......2003-04-18

All strong songs, but some stand out stronger than others: "Blwyddyn I Heno" (A Year from This Night) and the moving "Teyrnas y Ser" (In the Realm of the Summer Stars) are just to name two. Another, "Morwyn y Blodau" (Lady of the Flowers) reminiscent of a good Clannad work. This album is beautiful, inside and out (although my CD has a very slightly different cover), and is strongly recommended.
