Guitar gods for a late night or the tail end of a party........2002-08-26

A great sampler CD featuring the "guitar gods" of old, and more recent ones as well: Clapton, Santana, Larry Carlton, Jeff Beck. (only one track of each though). If you like guitar music pure, with the emphasis on both virtuoso playing and sound quality, this is the disk for you. A mixture of electrical and acoustic guitars are featured, lightly accompanied by other instruments. This is a great CD to put on late at night when you are by yourself relaxing, or to play at a party where people want to talk as well. And what guitarist today can equal Carlos Santano (playing Samba Pa Ti)? Goosebumps all over. I gave it 4 stars because it is only a sampler, and a few tracks have noticable tape noise from the original analog tapes. This disk should encourage you to explore the artists more in-depth and consider the quality (or absense of it) of guitar playing today.
