excelet listening music.......1998-12-23

the music helps calm the senses, meditation is a big help with this sound track. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to listen to celtic music. It seems to promote a surrounding where peace is relivent to the ears as well as the soul.

Prepare to fall under the spell..........2006-08-07

While many Celtic CDs focus on the drama of the human experience, "Celtic Mysteries" evokes images of ancient fairies and mystical beings. Its lyrical ballads flow gracefully in and out of one another, transporting the listener to hidden worlds before the dawn of time. (Tracks 1,3,7, and 8 are particularly enthralling.) I have never heard another CD like this--even the first "Celtic Mysteries" does not compare--and am sure I never will. "Celtic Mysteries II" casts a spell over its listeners quite unlike any other.

This is one of the most artful Celtic albums that I have had the privilege to own. Beautifully crafted with melodious songs that carry an aura of the mystery and mystique embodied by Celtic folklore, every tale is told with the flair and drama of a master storyteller. Every note delves into the deepest reaches of your imagination and floats you away from the mundane going-abouts of everyday. A must-have for anyone looking for enchantment in the real world.

This is a marvelous collection of tunes in the Celtic style. Rich, varied, soothing, and engaging all at the same time. This CD is actually better than Vol. 1, in my arrogant opinion.

This CD is part of my in-the-car collection for those long drives out of radio range.

This is one of my favorite Celtic CDs. I listen to it over and over again while I work, and it's great background music for creative endeavors (I'm a professional writer). Inspiring, relaxing, this provides a misty Celtic atmosphere. Try this artist's other CD, too -- excellent!

This is an excellent recording of an ancient Inca music so far availabled.I have decided to look for this item after watching a National Geographic documentary depicted a great civilization once flourishing in Peru backgrounded with ancient Inca music.The beautiful melody with flute synthesized with occasional drum beat,guitar and keyboard create an ambience of relax a perfect journey to ancient Inca civilization.Try to listen to it....darling....and don't forget to brush your teeth before going to sleep.

Faultless.......2005-12-20

When I first encountered "Glint at the kindling" I was only familiar with Robin's work in the Incredible String Band. This was different stuff - but it soon captured me as much as the best the ISB produced - it even neared the dizzying heights of "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" ! Later I bought more Williamson records, but this one, along with "Songs of love & parting" and his more recent "Mirrorman's Sequences" is the most captivating - amazingly well-crafted and filled with all one could wish for, both textual and musical. Earlier records like "American Stonehenge" sound like he was trying to find a new voice, but in "Glint" he definitely found one - all his later work bears many traces of this record.

On cd, the original "Glint" is teamed up with five bardic mysteries, which are all great (although you should check out the Gems of Celtic Story series for even better & more complete stories). Funnily enough these 5 bardic stories were presented on one cd with "Songs of love & parting" earlier.

On the original lp, Robin plays with the Merry Band - of which he has said he's never worked with better musicians - and it shows ! The songs I love best are "The road the gypsies go", "The woodcutter's song" with its great instrumental coda, "By weary well" and of course the epic "Five denials on Merlin's grave".

All the added stories are great, and if you're a Williamson fan I'm sure you'll love them. It should be noted that "The dialogue of the two sages" presented here is a less complete version than the one appearing on "Gems of Celtic Story 2".

I was very happy with the release of the album on cd - and also very pleased with the additions, although, in some sense, it has somehow destroyed the intimacy and the sense of completeness of the original. But I can still play the lp, can't I ?

contemporary Celtic with a Pagan slant.......2002-07-19

This CD is a utter delight. It's not easy to find solid, well produced music with strong Pagan themes. If you're a fan of celtic music or on an Eclectic path this CD is well worth the ... bucks it costs. I have 7 or 8 of the Celtic Tales CD's and this is one of the better ones.

Great Vocal Collection.......2001-08-28

This is a wonderfull c.d. that combines traditional and modern celtic vocal music. Each song is wonderfully sung, from "the green man" to "pheonix". This colection is a wonderfull part of the entire celtic tales series and anyone who loves celtic music should deffinately check this one out.

What a neat surprise!.......2002-03-26

I have a lot of spiritual/Goddessy albums, but boy, this one is NOT the "same old thing". (Not that I mind the same old thing! I wouldn't keep buying them if I did.) But this one was really a beautiful surprise.

When the album opens, it sounds like classical music or classical with some New Age-style instrumentation. Gradually, soft choral music comes in. And the album builds and builds to a peak.

In my opinion, the peak was a LONG, STUNNING piece which combines smooth spoken voice, urgent shouts of declaration - "SO MOTE IT BE!" a touch of spoken banter that flows right into the exciting, climactic instrumentation, and outstanding opera-style singing. This incredible piece just goes on and on, taking us through time, through the dark ages to the present, where we hear the voices of humans, the crackling of fire, and the beauty of music. I've never heard anything like it before.

Then the album gets gentler again ...

Brilliant.
