I loved it then and I love it now.......2007-03-14
My dad, with me growing up, loved to listen to this particular artist many times when he came home from a long and busy day at work while laying down in his recliner. The music here leaves alot of memories that I adore. I love this music not only for the beautiful soft wholesomeness about it, but for my favorite childhood moments.
Balm to the soul.......2006-07-29
It's so easy to forget how potent and magical music can be, with the daily grind, running to work, doing chores, paying bills and being part of this society of fast movers and shifters, until I stop in my tracks under the spell of this music. Cristofori's Dream is a pearl, in no words I mean small but a treasure that can be unnoticed until spotted. I had this cd in my collection for so long I almost forgot about it, and upon listening to it for the past few days, I'm back in love with it, not that it ever went away but life goes so fast that I forge to listen to my own favorites. I often find myself putting Lanz as background music to reading, and half the time I stop reading and make the music louder and day dream to it, it's that wonderful!
Some of my favorites are:
Cristofori's Dream the title song is movie like, romantic, moody and tender and puts me in a dream like quality. The chorus, often repeated is really addictive, as I can hear it every day and not get tired of it. To me it sounds like an ice castle bathed in a winter wonderland with sun reflecting off the falling snow.
Spiral Dance has flute in, which I have played for about 18 years now, since I was a kid and it's really delightful and sparkling. The piano and the flute twist together like the DNA helix, or a huge curling staircase plummeting down, they accompany each other in a real lovely partnership. They flirt and play to the point where I want to dance on my toes, its really pleasant and happy music. Since Lanz uses synthesizers and various instruments to add to the piano this is a really intriguing cd that never tires me.
Green into Gold mixes piano, drums and various small objects blending into exotic and almost jazz like quality of sound. I can easily see the jungle in it but it's refined and soft, nothing wild.
Wings to Altair shows why Lanz is one of the foremost expert contemporary new age recording artists, as he creates sounds that might share spotlight with the most amazing movie, if used as a soundtrack. This music is complex yet it sounds like a breath of air turning pale colors as it tickles my ears.
A Whiter Shade of Pale almost sounds like a wedding, I just read love and happiness and pure glow from the music. It's charming and sultry yet romantic almost to the point of tears and goose bumps.
And to help others understand him, I will share a quote from Mr. Lanz; "A friend of mine was leading a seminar on the energy centers of the body and wanted music to illustrate the flow of energy through these areas sometimes referred to as chakras," Lanz says. "I was also interested in the healing qualities of music and it's effect on body and soul, so I made a little tape of piano music for the seminar and just about everyone who heard it, to my utter surprise, wanted a copy!"
I see his achieved his goal right away because his music has fed my heart and soul for years, making me feel happy, relaxed and lost in a dream like world of sparkling harmonies.
Cristofo's Dream.......2006-02-20
I love David Lanz, but this particular album was only so-so. Worth buying nevertheless.
This May Be His Best!!!.......2006-01-01
I own several CD's from David Lanz. Several of them have Paul Speer on them too. I seem to enjoy the solo efforts better. This one has some great songs on it. I absolutely love the title track Cristofori's Dream. Other good selections are Spiral Dance, Summer's Child, and Free Fall. I don't just listen to music for the music...It's the little sounds and nuances that I enjoy that add to the overall songs. Their are several of them on this CD that I like. If you like new age piano you will love this. This may be his best!!!
For The Piano Lover !.......2005-08-07
Oh, Wow!
This is a cd that will be liked by all who enjoy George Winston, Mehdi, Danny Wright, Keiko Matsui, or even Jim Brickman. It is the very essence of good new age. So tranquil, yet so spirited, this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed!
It reminds me somewhat of Kevin Kern, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well.

Beautiful and Peaceful.......1999-03-03
By far my favorite music to relax with. I listened to this during the pregnancy of both of my children and both of them continue to have this played everynight as they fall asleep (my girls are 1 and 5) I have worn out 2 tapes and I am on my third. An incredible selection of music!
David Lanz is somehow able to transform music into a fantasy.......1998-10-31
In my opinion, David Lanz is possibly the greatest songwriter and pianist since Chopin. The first time I heard Cristofori's Dream, I fell in love with his music. Since then, I've gotten Heartsounds, Skyline Firedance, and Return to the Heart. His piano books are also magnificent! The quality of his music include various paces, some very soft and fragile while others stir the emotions with their fire and speed! They all have one quality in common. Each one of his pieces have the unyielding art of capturing the emotion or mood, which is enlightening each time I listen. It may sound kind of stupid, but I feel my life has been enlightened by this artist unlike any other. I HIGHLY recommend his albums and works.
Soothing, pleasant and at times hypnotising.......1998-10-17
My first CD bought using Amazon.com's customer reviews. David Lanz evokes a comparison with George Winston and at times eclipses Winston with a comparably, seemingly hypnotised play of the piano. Cristoforis Dream I found a mixture of daring, passionate venturing into new musical territory and then at times going back to safe and familiar ground (a bit too "Kenny G" for my liking). It is hard not to raise your expectations when all customer reviews are five stars though. The CD basically loses one star for not being a "DDD recording". Turn up the volume and background dust detracts from its potential.
Otherwise, an album that lasts and deserves good food and good friends on a Saturday night...
Lanz' best album. A great gift........1998-09-22
This is Lanz' best album and should top anyone's list in New Age music. Never grow tired of it. When introducing people to New Age, this is the album I always recommend.
His Music changed my life.......1998-09-18
When I first heard Christofori's Dream, I broke down and cried. The music touched my very soul. It evokes the feelings of love, tenderness and well being. I had never heard any new age music before. It's truly inspirational. It can melt that hearts of anyone who listens to it.

Customer Reviews:
A nice piece of work.......2006-10-16
Just over 46 minutes, Cristofori's Dream--from David Lanz--was released in 1988. All seven of the tracks are instrumentals. Lanz performs a rendition of "A Whiter Shade of Pale," a composition originally from Procol Harum. Altogether, I find the album's songwriting to be pleasing, the musicianship to be skillful, and the sound quality to be worthy. I am impressed with Lanz's piano playing, which sports vitality and mellifluousness. The music is serene and soothing. In addition, I like how he incorporates synthesizers with his piano work. My favorite pieces are "Wings to Altair," "Summer's Child," and "Free Fall." Lanz's piano playing on "Wings to Altair" is euphonious. "Summer's Child" features nice piano work from Lanz, too. The melodies of the lovely "Free Fall" are pretty and unforgettable. Examples of other compositions that I enjoy are "Spiral Dance" and "Green into Gold." Even though the guitar playing displayed on "Spiral Dance" is minimal, it makes an impact; it slips mournfully and charmingly in and out of the song. The synthesizer work on "Green into Gold" is interesting sounding, also. In regard to the CD foldout, it includes a color photo of Lanz, an essay written by him, and information pertaining to Bartolommeo Cristofori--credited as being the inventor of the piano. Actually, I rate this album 3.5 stars. Cristofori's Dream is recommendable.
