With Fluxus Quo, Greg Klamt takes a quantum leap over his impressive debut, Fulcrum. You can still hear the influences of early space music, but they have now been submerged in an intricate synthesized sound world full of interlocking patterns and textural designs. Klamt obviously listened to the minimalist music of Steve Reich, and the marimba-like sequencer cycles of "Stark Raven" owe a debt to Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians." But Klamt is much more a dramatist than Reich and he uses his cycles to create tension and mood beneath his sweeping synthesizer melodies. A penchant for sampled orchestral sounds and sweeping synth-strings occasionally robs Klamt's music of the clarity it otherwise enjoys. --John Diliberto

This is the perfect CD for someone looking for relaxing, meditative music. Beautiful melodies that uplift and relax.
An hour of listening to this will catapult you off into a blissful state of peace and tranquility.

Awesome and lyrical.......2001-08-28

Greg Klamt is a rare musician. He creates gorgeous melodies that seem so effortless. There is a touch of classical sound to his music which suggests his (probable) formal background training in music theory. All that aside, there is not one song on this glorious CD that is less than perfectly constructed and beautifully performed. This CD is one that gets repeat play and one wonders why Greg is not as renown as, say, Yanni, and why he is not producing more music? My personal favorites are "Fluxus Quo", "Synestasy" which makes one feel so happy with its uplifting melody that one can "see" the rippling reflections on an imaginary lake as created by its wavering synth sounds; the moody, yet majestic "Shifting Grains" and achingly haunting "Vestigal Memories", although the rest of the album is every bit as awesome too. I think that the most outstanding quality of Greg's music are his beautiful melodies. They are simply exquisite on evey level. Spotted Peccary is a smallish label with an impressive level of musicians like Greg Klamt, David Helpling and others. Finding their catalog is quite a challenge unless you know New Age Music very well and/or someone who does. Amazon.com provides a terrific cross reference and helpful suggestions and it is worth the time to check them out. If you adore quality music this CD is a treasury of dazzling musical gems.

"MY FAVORITE" NEW AGE CD!.......2000-02-09

This was one of the first, and still the favorite, of my "New Age" collection. ALL of the songs are wonderful, yet each is uniquely different, unlike much of the other music of this type out today. The titles of the songs are very descriptive of their musical content....so when you close your eyes and listen to "Ruminations of a Pensive Camel", that camel will plod right into your head.

This CD has thundering bass, as well as lilting flute. The music envelopes you in such a way that you feel tranquil, yet invigorated, all at the same time! I have listened to this CD repeatedly and I never tire of it!

I did not consider Greg's first CD to be as good as this one, but this one is excellent and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, they both seem to be nearly out of print....I can only hope that he comes out with a third one soon!
