This is one of the best rock albums I have bought in years. Every song is catchy and you'll find yourself humming, if not singing, along very shortly. I highly recommend this album, and their "SUPERHUMAN" album along with it.

Pure Unadulterated Rock.......2007-06-07

Just like the previous reviewer I bought their CD after I saw them open for Daughtry. Didn't like Daughtry at all but the trip was totally worth it because I discovered Cinder Road (that's what they're now called.) The music on Hometown Hero is classic, unadulterated rock. I liked them so much I've already pre-ordered their next CD that comes out later in June (Cinder Road - Superhuman) Highly recommend this band - they've got flair!

Not sure why the CD is $31.99 on Amazon - that's crazy. Just go to their website (http://www.cinderroadmusic.com/) and buy it there for $10.

I picked this CD up after seeing the band (now Cinder Road) open for Daughtry. What a great CD. It's great strait forward rock music. The songs are catchy, and Heaven is an absolute heartbreaker.

this disc is a great one to add to your collection if you like rock music. every track is catchy - but not in an annoying pop kind of way. and if you dont have the title track stuck in your head after one rotation you must be deaf. i bought it on recommendation and am so happy i did!!

If you want to hear a band with genuine heart and a sound that will make you jump outta your seat, this is the band for you. Lead by front man, Mike Ruocco, Plunge knows how to make you dance, make you cry, and make you feel truly alive like you've never felt before! This cd is absolutely amazing and a great tribute to this band's amazing talent.

Smart & Funky.......1999-03-08

Trombonist Mark McGrain leads a deep-groove quarter (bone, tuba, bass, drums) where everyone plays both rhythm & lead. Bob Moses is of course a great composer/arranger/visionary in his own right; and Marcus Rojas has played in Henry Threadgill's bands, so he knows the avant-funk, too. The sum is a combination of danceable groove with very intelligent soloing, and the sound is unbeatable -- especially if you like living in that low-rumble bass world.

Definately Take "The Plunge"!.......2001-01-14

This album fantastic! The music is hip and upbeat. Great to get up and dance to as well!! They do an amazing live show..always in tune with each other and having a great time doing it. Check out this CD, you will not be disappointed. I hear they have a new one out now as well called "Wont Fall Down". I cant wait to pick it up.

I think it is one of the best I have in my collection and listening to it always brings out diferent emotions in me. I just bought a couple PLUNGE TAKE IT CD's for christmas presents. I can't wait for the new CD and hope it is similar. I saw the band live recently and I think there is a new drummer. I am a drummer not that good but I try to practice my drums to this album. If your looking for a great CD not to heavy but not to melow this is good old rock and roll.

Polished but still fresh.......2003-01-27

Joules Graves has such a powerful, enviable voice, she seems to be a born folk singer. But on this album, she shows that she can sing a variety of song-types, and that her strong, resonating vocals are helpful on each and every one of them.

This album still qualifies as "folk" because it's so lyric-focused. The words are clear and worth listening to. And it hasn't been "produced to death" or given the sound of a pop album. It's really a folk album in terms of focus.

YET ... each song is done in a completely different style. One song is "rapped", another song is simply spoken, another is melodic and sweet as soft rock, and of course, many are good, old-school folk with voice and guitar.

Some of the highlights include "Out on a Limb" which inspires us to get the most out of every day of our lives. "Land of Fake Fires" is a gorgeous anti-urbanization ballad. And "Wamba" is a humorous and poignant piece in favor of women who choose to be a little heavier.

The album is well-produced enough to have a crisp, polished sound. The variety of songs is exciting and makes it the kind of album that you don't play in the background, but actually sit there and LISTEN to. And of course her voice ... boy, what some of us wouldn't do to have a voice that strong and gorgeous.

Joules sings like no one else, and the strength of her voice grows out of the strength, urgency, and seriousness of her convictions. Her writing is witty, angry, celebratory, thoughtful. A gift.

Joules Still Shines.......1999-03-01

I met Joules about nine years ago as part of a political action in the Northwest. Joules could paint, draw, sing, drum and shine with the best of everyone and she does it here still on her new album, PLUNGE.

PLUNGE incorporates some new elements, including electric guitar, organ and hip-hop vocals that serve her a little less well than the log cabin Pagan Tabernackle Choir styling of her last effort, Waterfall Child, which is less widely available.

While the packaging and production values have gone up with PLUNGE, several songs (including Land of Fake Fires) still radiate with the hotsprings fireside ambience of her previous albums. Her voice, as ever, enchants uncannily.

For Joules' fans, this is a must-have, but for new listeners, I recommend Waterfall Child or her tape Wildcrafted (which you can get by writing to her at Lopez Island, WA).

Joules can be found performing at Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Seattle Folklife Festival, and has published some of her lyrics in WE'moon, a small press wimmin's day book. NAMASTE.

I love woman artists who have bold truthful music. She is at the top of my favorites list (which includes the likes of Ani DiFranco, Toni Childs, Sinead o connor,Dar williams,Tori Amos ect...) Acoustic guitar and hand drum back her rich and playful voice. If you love the artists above, get this cd(and her others) NOW! She tours a bit, mostly on the west coast. Dont miss her if she comes to town. Enjoy, shes a true gift!
