Introduce your baby to the wonders of classical music with this Mozart collection. The musical selections on this CD were softened to create a happy arrangement that will appeal to babies. Of all the reasons you'll click the Add to Shopping Cart button next to Baby Einstein's Baby Mozart--and there are many--the best one is that playing this record for babies doesn't feel weird. Instead of subjecting tiny, tender ears to the kind of Mozart that can make adult classical fans wilt when tackled by a maestro who means business, this is Mozart lite, mixed and mastered by a dad, Bill Weisbach, who's clearly hung around for his share of crib-side cooing. The slightly tinny sound of a child's piano sweeps the sting out of Piano Sonata in B Flat's third movement; the first movement of Concerto for Flute and Harp in C floats by, birdlike; variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" translate to a fancy-sounding (but adorable) "Twinkle, Twinkle"; and Piano Sonata in F's third movement snuggles so deeply into its childlike setting that if you close your eyes, you'll see a pastel parade of animals floating by overhead. Other pieces (more aptly called fragments, since only one track stretches beyond the three-minute mark), like Symphony No. 41's fourth movement, wander into more robust Mozart territory, but it's here the claims about classical music enhancing young kids' abstract reasoning skills and spatial intelligence crystallize. Babies strapped in for a roller coaster of sounds that gracefully dips, swerves, and high-jumps like this version, do have to process what they're hearing somehow (and a case could be made that the instruments Weisbach's chosen--the vibraphone, glockenspiel, and music box among them--make it more appealing for them to do so). Followers of Julie Aigner-Clark's Baby Einstein empire, many of whom opted out of the fan club once Disney bought the company in 2001, won't trip over a single Mickey Mouse-ified sound here. This is pure, plugged in, and muted Mozart, and if it doesn't make your baby smarter, it'll at least sound awfully sweet issuing from your nursery's speakers. --Tammy La GorceCustomer Reviews:

Beautiful!.......2006-11-08
So when he saw the Disney Princess Ultimate Song Collection, he just had to have it.
This beautiful CD features 14 songs, 12 of which come from Disney movies. That is, it's not some imposter singing a new rendition of a classic song, but rather the original singer. So Jodi Benson is, indeed, singing "Part of Your World" while "Sebastian" sings "Kiss the Girl".
If you're a fan of the amazing music featured on Disney movies (e.g. Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc.), you'll LOVE this beautiful collection of dreamy, soothing songs.

Album Description
America is a huge, diverse country with Yankee home cooking and Tex Mex cuisine. People ski on frozen Vermont mountains and surf the big waves in sun drenched California. One thing that binds it all together is TV. Television is American culture, a common thread that holds it all together on a nightly basis as we assemble around our living rooms to watch our favorite characters and shows.Twenty years ago, TVT Records was born with its first release, Television's Greatest Hits. Now after having sold millions of its TV theme compilations around the world, America's #1 independent label for the past 4 years running is returning to its roots. In celebration of TVT's 20th Anniversary, it is releasing the ultimate TV collection, All Time Top 100 TV Themes, featuring themes drawn from all the original sources.
Hearing these theme songs consistenly evokes a strong emotional response, pointing to a time when everyone watched the same TV shows again and again. From I Love Lucy and Green Acres to Batman and The Monkees, to Welcome Back Kotter and M*A*S*H to Pee Wee's Playhouse and Twin Peaks to Friends and Six Feet Under, virtually anyone who grew up American watching television is sure to want a nostalgic piece of their shared cultural past.

Thanks so much for the Honeymooners, Twilight Zone, I Love Lucy and the Lone Ranger!
This is a fun CD to play and sing along with in the car. Passengers enjoy playing Name That Tune!

Already a box office sensation with a million-selling soundtrack in its native France, writer/director Christopher Barratier's tale of a post-war music teacher's lasting impact on his young charges rode its formulaic Hollywood roots all the way to Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations as Best Foreign Language Film, as well as an Oscar nod for Best Song ("Look To Your Path [Vois Sur Ton Chemin]," a collaboration between the director and film composer Bruno Coulais). Taking his inspiration from the boy's chorus at the center of the film's drama, Coulais has concocted a masterful, classically rooted score that showcases the crystalline, youthful harmonies of Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc Choir. The composer bridges the baroque and modern eras in a collection of mostly Latin choruses and chants, a skillful, often haunting fusion that also netted Coulais' compelling score BAFTA and Cesar Awards in Britain and his native France, respectively. -- Jerry McCulleyAlbum Description
The Chorus (Les Choristes), written and directed by Christophe Barratier, is already a French cinema phenomenon. The modestly budgeted film about a music teacher in a post-war France who wins over the troubled students at a boarding school arrived in French theatres last summer with little advance hype. Defying industry expectations, this affecting tale proceeded to break box-office records. The soundtrack to The Chorus (Les Choristes) features performers by the Lyon-based Petits Chanteurs de Saint Marc and several haunting solo turns by 13 year-old boy soprano Jean-Baptiste Maunier, who also portrays the youthful protagonist of the film.Customer Reviews:

The first five tracks on the soundtrack to this Sandra Bullock/Keanu Reeves romantic drama are wonderfully wistful songs. The first, Paul McCartney's "This Never Happened Before" from his 2005 album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, sets the tone. The low-key mood is then picked up by new romantic souls like the Clientele (the languidly forlorn "(I Can't Seem to) Make You Mine") and Eels (the fiddle-accented ballad "Ant Farm"), and classic songwriters Nick Drake (with 1969's "Time Has Told Me") and Carole King (1971's "It's Too Late"). The rest of the album is made up of Rachel Portman's intimately romantic score. Portman makes good use of melody lines driven sometimes by a piano ("Mailbox") and sometimes an acoustic guitar ("Tell Me More"), while also ensuring that the orchestra never threatens to overwhelm them. And when strings dominate, they never feel rote ("Sunsets"). The music isn't in-your-face sad but tinged with a sense of very adult melancholy. Whoever thought that one day we'd say that of something attached to a Keanu Reeves movie? --Elisabeth VincentelliCustomer Reviews:

Rocky IV Music with Some Imitation Bill Conti Music.......2007-01-07
I bought this album thinking I could get the best of the Rocky music without having to buy all the originals. What I found is that the originals are what makes makes Rocky movie music so distinctive. Rather than purchase this album, I'd buy the original Rocky IV and the original Rocky soundtrack; there is more music, and it is all "real" Rocky music. Another option is to purchase the latest Rocky Anthology, "Rocky Balboa".

For better or worse, John Williams has completely reshaped the art of the soundtrack. His scores for Star Wars, E.T., and Jaws are simply unforgettable, and his knack for tugging at our heartstrings is uncanny. John Williams: Greatest Hits 1969-1999 collects 30 years of the composer's best-loved themes into one double-CD package. You'll find all the soundtrack moments you'd expect from Indiana Jones, Close Encounters, and Schindler's List, along with a few surprises (The Reivers Americana-filled main theme and Williams's 1984 Olympic theme, for starters). Most of the earlier works have been digitally rerecorded by Williams, so while you may not get the original recording of these works here, nothing shows its age. And although we really do get only his "greatest hits" (the longest track is the nearly 10-minute-long Close Encounters theme), most of these soundtracks can be purchased in their entirety for the true aficionado. John Williams may be an acquired taste, but this set proves why--year after year--he scores some of the most successful films Hollywood can produce. --Jason VerlindeCustomer Reviews:

Beethoven is an insect compaired to this titian of composition........2007-07-18
Once I started paying attention to the music and identifying different pieces that I enjoyed from different movies, I was suprized to realize that John Williams had composed many, many of them.
This CD contains possibably the greatest most timeless music I have heard. Sure, you, like my classical music loving boss, have probably already written off my opinion as foolish or ignorant. Honestly, I don't care.
I like Mozart, Bach and the rest, and they have their place, but their music doesn't move through me like Williams. While this collection is far from a box set of his work, all the most popular pieces are there: Raders March (Indiana Jones), Star Wars, Superman, Empire March (Darth Vader). None of the operas or preludes the other guys made up generate the experience I get from listening to the opening stanza of Superman.
While it is very hard to sing along to these pieces, if you have an office as I do, it makes great background music. Everyone who comes in is pleasently caught off guard and I enjoy watching them trying to place the various songs that are playing.
Even if you disagree that Williams is better than Wagner or Debussy, if you enjoy his music, you will love this CD. "These are the droids you are looking for."
An excellent survey of this great film composer's music.......2007-06-15
Williams not only has the talent to write memorable melodies but to expertly interpolate themes from the story into his scores, for example the drum rolls in "JFK" evoking the president's funeral procession and the mournful bugle calls in "Born on the Fourth of July".
Williams also employs a variety of styles, but never gratuitously, always to the service of the film. His "Jaws" theme is as legendary as the violin shrieks from Bernard Herrman's famous score for "Psycho".
The performances are excellent - only the "Born on the Fourth of July" performance exposes some thinness in the string section of the Boston Pops Orchestra.
There is much to enjoy here for film and music lovers alike.
It's my second copy!.......2007-03-09
I could listen to it a 100's and never get tired!.......2007-02-17
