A Listening Treat .......2007-03-08
What a delight to listen to this collection of pure Rutter ! The melodic sounds of the Cambridge Singers bring me such pleasure The sheer joyfulness of this music is to me a religious experience of such depth It is superb and will lift ones spirits instantly. highly recommended to all lovers of the English contemporary choral sound and scene,____ not to be missed
Be Thoy My Vision CD.......2007-02-19
My husband sang many of these John Rutter compositions with his church choir, and this CD is perfect since the choir is directed by Rutter, singing his own music. If you love religious music, this will bring tears to your eyes, the choir is "that" perfect.
Really good, but don't listen to it all at once........2007-01-07
I really liked this CD. It really showcases Rutter's knack for religious choral music. Perhaps it helps that I have sung some of his stuff with various groups. However, as with any similar compiliation, the composer's sameness of style and motif becomes apparent. This repetition can become boring on the third or fourth listening. On the other hand, this makes a great reference tool for any choral director or performer. Buy it, however, it's worth it, but don't listen to it all at once.
A must for choral music fans.......2006-09-19
Simply fabulous, 10/10. These are all Rutter-composed pieces, directed by Rutter himself. If you have any interest in religious choral music at all, you must get this album! One of the highlights of my musical life was attending a concert of a University of Maryland choir in which my mom sang, that featured Rutter as a guest conductor. Listening to this album is almost as good! ;-) There are too many good pieces to start naming all of my favorites, but these are some of the best known ones: "Open Thou Mine Eyes", "A Gaelic Blessing", "All Things Bright and Beautiful", "As the Bridegroom to His Chosen", "For the Beauty of the Earth", and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You".
An outstanding collection of Rutter's hymns.......2005-11-22
I sought a recording of Rutter's beautiful hymn, "Wings of the Morning", after we sang this lovely tune in church and this was the only CD I could find that contained it.
This collection includes many of Rutter's church hymns recorded over a period of 20 years performed by The Cambridge Singers, a group of Brits, that are conducted by the composer. Ergo, these performances must be considered definitive.
Many of Rutter's popular hymns are included here. "O be joyful to the Lord" and "All things bright and beautiful", a popular children's hymn done here by adults, follow "Wings of the morning" on tracks 5-7. Others you may have performed in church represented here are "O clap your hands", "Lord make me an instrument of your peace", "For the beauty of the earth", "Look at the world" and "The Lord bless you and keep you" among the 21 assembled hymns.
While The Cambridge Singers, on their Web site, identify themselves principally as an a capella group, I was pleased when I received this CD to find all the hymns supported by a full orchestra, the esteemed City of London Sinfonia. The renditions are uniformly lovely although some listeners may find the singing a bit on the white side lacking brilliance and individuality. Everything is done in keeping with Rutter's score markings and style.
The recording tends to be a little variable given the 20-plus year difference in performances. The most recent copyright listing is 2003, the same year "Wings of the morning" was published. I don't hear an appreciable difference in that recording than the others but still hear some age in older works.
If you seek a Rutter hymn collection you can't go wrong here. You have wonderful English performers mated to the composer in his more popular works. I'd recommend this without reservation to anyone seeking this collection.

The Price Club.......2005-04-28
"I am here," said Leontyne Price when interviewed as she opened the new Metropolitan Opera with Samuel Barber's underrated ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, "and you will know that I am the best and will hear me. The color of my skin or the kink of my hair or the spread of my mouth has nothing to do with what you are listening to." Back in the 1960s Price was one of the greatest divas in all of opera, and it wasn't just her voice but her magnificent stage presence, combined with her social activism. All of the above come into play in this collection of secular songs and ditties, some of them traditional plantation chanties and others, art songs and a scattering of pop music. And some of them, like Gershwin's "Summertime," cross the ever-permeable boundaries between Broadway and classical. These recordings were made at different times in Price's career, and her voice, while always angelic, has different shadings and reaches a different range of timbre in each separate recording date, but there is no question that, as time goes by, she is able to impart a richness of life experience noticeably absent from some of her earlier work.
"Ave Maria" sounds heavenly no matter which way you slice it, and as for "I Wonder As I Wander," it brings tears to your eyes. If you have a heart that's beating you will be moved by this rendition. "Ein feste Burg" is pretty strong, but Price seems more comfortable with the traditional spirituals, though perhaps it is the slightly off-kilter sounds of the Ambrosian Singers (what a name) who back her up on many of these tracks, that detract slightly from the experience. Compare "Lead Kindly Light" for a clear sense of what constitutes authority vs. what is a wee bit overproduced. If you had this compilation, and perhaps one of Leontyne Price's Christmas albums, you could attain nirvana any time you wanted to, just flip a switch and close your eyes, let her lift you up on wings of song.
A living legend.......2005-03-10
Leontyne Price (still alive) and already passing into immortality amongst vocal artists, both classical and popular. Leontyne Price stands at the pinnacle of her classical art, but those who only know her work in La Forza del destino or the Verdi Requiem are in for a heart rending treat with this album where Leontyne Price goes home to her roots in Mississippi and gives an unabashed account of the classic spirituals she sang as a young woman. Like John Mc Cormacks rendering of Irish songs there is a personal longing and devotion expressed here that reveals a side of the artist not known in the bulk of their "classical" repetoire. A sense of going home like Citizen Kane's rosebud, or as Dorothy Gale observes at the end of the Wizard of Oz "everything I could ever have wanted was right in my own backyard "
not your daddy's old timey spiritual.......2004-06-23
Agreed this is a good cd for a beautiful voice, but this is not, repeat not, for someone who wants to hear that old-timey religious fervor that you think of when you've been to a Black Baptist hand-clapping, standing, swaying, and singing service.
Immaculate Vocals of Leontyne Price.......2003-12-31
IMMACULATE, SUPERB vocal range and style! There's no other words that can complement Miss Leontyne Price's vocal arrangements. Miss Price's voice is strong, and shrills very nicely to the instruments played on many songs listed on this double CD which is a joy to treasure; every song listed are songs I was raised to hearing and singing. Miss Price is the reason why many of these songs remain in popularity and presently used. Miss Leontyne Price has been incredible in many of her past performances. This is my fourth CD of Miss Price and I am glad to own this particular CD forever and ever. Many thanks to the executors who found this remarkable album and upgraded it to a CD format! **Angi**
Great Gospel Stuff.......2001-04-12
This is a great CD. The only problem I have with it is that on some of the selections there is a boy's choir screaming in the background, and this takes away (a bit) from her performance. That said, her best selections are those that are either unaccompanied or those where her voice is not buried. Songs that strike me are - His Name So Sweet, He's Got The Whole World, Were You There, I Wonder as I Wander, Lift Every Voice and Sing, and my all time favourite Summertime. Enough said.

REAL MUSIC.......2007-01-16
THIS IS MUSIC YOU CAN LISTEN TO EVERY DAY AND ENJOY OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
White bread, well-baked in spots.......2005-08-12
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir that performs on this disc is a tightly-knit, well-conducted unit, and some of the tracks on the disc border on the ethereal. "Lead, Kindly Light," "Sweet Hour of Prayer" (in parts) and "The King of Love My Shepherd Is," for example, touch the soul and bring tears to the eyes.
However, on other arrangements the choir sounds like a group of white folks far removed from the remainder of humanity. For example, the opening track, "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty," and also "All Creatures of Our God and King" sound rote and perfunctory, like a group of elementary school students (with very fine voices, to be sure) going through the paces of a daily sing: elevator music on a grand scale. At the opposite extreme, sudden dynamic shifts in other tracks sound pretentious. The final bars of "All Creatures of Our God and King" suggest an attempt at a grand finale, but lack even a hint of majesty or passion. The choir lacks any apparent understanding of the Shaker spirit in "Simple Gifts" --- rather like Lawrence Welk playing Bob Marley. (Not that I've ever seen a Shaker in dreadlocks.) "Battle Hymn of the Republic" begins majestically, but turns into a caricature, and then reverts to a semblance of glory (except for a brief flirtation with a minor key).
The high praise lavished on this disc by other reviewers is no surprise: It is of very high quality for what it is. The choir offers a lovely sound. However, more than half the tracks are seriously flawed, and the musicianship is sufficiently peculiar on the whole as to lower the rating considerably.
This is the one!.......2002-08-24
If you want to hear the best of the best, this CD is it. These hymn arrangements are just beautiful and very touching. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the choir and wants to feel a little closer to heaven. The choir seems to sing literally with one voice and you feel like they are singing just for you. Congratulations to the new conductor, Craig Jessop and all those who contributed to the quality that went into producing this CD.
A Must for the Sabbath.......2002-04-17
I LOVE IT!!! What better way to enjoy the Sabbath than to sing of the Lord's Praises with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir? This album is just the ticket! It's very powerful, and uplifting.
What? You mean I can only give this album five stars? But that doesn't even BEGIN to do it justice!
I love it. Truly a masterpiece!
A Must for Sabbath.......2002-02-05
If you only own one Mormon Tabernacle Choir CD, this is the one. It has creative arrangements of many favorite hymns, as well as the best recording of the Wilhousky Battle Hymn arrgmt that I have ever come across. The only downer: it has (another) recording of Simple Gifts, which has been beat to death by choirs in the last decade.
I especially love the 'Glory' pieces on it: Full of timpani, brass, and alleluias- one of those discs you turn all the way up and direct the stereo when noone is looking. I hope my neighbors like it too; they probably hear it quite a bit.

Customer Reviews:
Light of the Spirit.......2006-02-28
This CD is not what was expected. It is not quite as consistant as Kitaro's music on satillite radio. It is good and easy to listen to. It is fairly good to relax to as well. Some of the music on this CD is not as relaxing as others.
One of the worst records I have!.......2005-03-09
I bought this cd because I was quite interested in what Kitaro was doing, specially in his earlier worldly music albums
such as Ten Kai or From the Full Moon Story, all of which I think they could be his best releases (including the music for Silk Road). They had some ethnical elements that sounded pretty good mixed with the technology of late seventies and made an unique and very personal sound that I find very interesting.
But what I found in The Light of Spirit was a collection of sad, tasteless even frightening songs with a poor and very easy, if not strange, arrangement (think about those electric guitars with a rock mood). All the themes fall in the easy listening that lovers of new-age seem to enjoy and nothing or very little of that ehtnical element remains here. Sun Dance, for example, tries to impress the listener with great sound but only the intention remains as Kitaro, sadly, has so much songs sounding like it along his carreer with Geffen Records.
The Good Stuff Is Always At the Bottom Of The Pile.......2004-04-03
I probably own a good deal more Kitaro than I should, but I have never been able to keep from buying discs I haven't seen before when they show up on the resale tables. The unfortunate result is that, other than a few favorites (and a few I can't stand) I really don't have a clear idea of what I've got. The Light Of The Spirit is such a case in point. I bought it about 10 years ago, probably listened to it twice and then forgot it. Now, 17 years after it was issued, I've been listening to it and wondering how I could have let it gather so much dust.
The Light Of The Spirit is a 'project' disc, composed and performed as a unit by Kitaro and a large group of fellow musicians. As the title suggests it is more or less metaphysical in content and theme. I was originally tempted to describe the style as 'typical' Kitaro, when I suddenly realized that in 1987 Kitaro was style quite a ways from having a typical streak.
In any case it is primarily electronic with enough acoustic fusion elements to keep it from being all out space music. Kitaro has a knack for creating long drawn out melodies that are easily accessible but which never quite cross the fine line into bubblegum. In this album a lot of thought has gone into the composition and arrangement - kind of a cross between meditation and mentation.
There are a few exceptions to the general trend, notably the title song, which combines voice, guitar, and Kitaro's inevitable theramin to produce something quite special. Another is In The Beginning, which, once you get past the initial ocean effects turns into something like a new age march to glory. Hard to describe, but great fun to audition.
I like this album more than I do Silk Road, probably because the latter has been played, arranged, and orchestrated to death. In addition, The Light Of The Spirit is a surprisingly upbeat album. We a acculturated to think that spirituality is dry stuff, but Kitaro pays little heed to the commonplace. Once could almost have named this album 'Toe Tapping The Way To Nirvana.' Okay, I'm being silly. But this really is one of Kitaro's better efforts.
A meditational journey.......2004-01-11
I just gotta say I love the whole album but one song in particular stimulates the depths of my soul every time my mind hears it and that song is "THE FIELD". Please do your spiritual essence a favor and feed your mind music that is worth feeding!!! You will be glad you did when you see the results of this music and meditation combined!!!PEACE.
A classic of the new age/electronic genre from KITARO!.......2003-11-03
1987's "Light of the Spirit" was the first Kitaro CD that I ever purchased, and today I look back on it as one of the classic recordings of the new age/electronic music genre - taking it's place alongside the best works of Tangerine Dream & Vangelis. I had first heard Kitaro during a TV appearance and was blown away by his majestic/mystical sound. I can't remember the name of the song played, but it certainly made an impression - I was even quite impressed that an instrumental synth artist was even getting television airtime AT ALL! Next day I went to the CD shop searching from something for this mysterious artist, and "Light of the Spirit" was the first disc to catch my eye. To give a bit of historical perspective, this disc was realeased during what could be called the 'popular heyday' of the (then) budding 'new age music' scene. The fact that this title was originally released by Geffen Records (a major, commercial label) gives some indication as to how popular Kitaro & other new age artists were at the time...Remember when all the records stores suddenly had a large "new age" section?...Remember when you could turn your TV set to VH-1 for a show called "New Visions", where you could regularly see concept videos, interviews, and/or concert clips of such quality instrumental artists as Kitaro, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Andreas Vollenweider, Patrick Moraz, & Suzanne Cianni?...It's true, there was such a time! What are your chances of catching of catching Kitaro on VH-1 today?..Slim to none!!! (Unfortunately, with all of it's hip-hip, generic pop, & "reality" programming, VH-1 has become virtually indistinguishable from it's parent company, MTV) Luckily, Kitaro's music was based on quality & built to last, and he amassed a dedicated fan-base that has allowed him to continue as one of the few artists to really survive (and even thrive) beyond the commercial heyday of new age music. "Light of the Spirit" was one of the albums that really solidified that hardcore following, and defined Kitaro as an artist. It's amazing how fresh & vibrant it still sounds 15 years after it's release (yes, its been that long!) The album kicks off with the aptly titled "Mysterious Encounter", an ethereal, haunting, keyboard-drenched piece that slowly sucks the listener in with a progressively shifting theme. One thing that Kitaro has mastered (and lesser new age artists seem lacking in) is the art of musical variety - an ebb and flow of different moods that keeps an album interesting for the duration. For instance; while the opening track is hypnotic and flowing, a more intense, percussive, POWERFUL feel is represented by the tracks "Sundance" & "Howling Thunder". (Kitaro began his career with the acclaimed Japanese progressive rockers The Far East Family Band, and that prog-rock influence still shows on tracks like this.) The mellower, more introspective side of the album comes with tracks such as "Moondance" & "The Field" (the latter of which was nominated for a Grammy in 1987.) The title track, "Light of the Spirit", is a piece that fluctuates between a delicate acoustic-based section, and a more forceful section lead by drums and majestic lead synthesizers. This track is also the only one on the album to make use of vocals, in this case 'wordless' female vocals (as a reference point, think of the female singers on Pink Floyd's "Great Gig In the Sky" or "Eclipse".) The singing will not be to everyone's taste, but this piece is so well-done that somehow the vocals did not bother me (However, I do feel that a superior version of "Light of the Spirit" is found on Kitaro's CD "Live in America" an energetic 'vocal-free' recording which streches the song by a few minutes!) As a contrast, "In The Beginning" is built almost completely of layred- keyboards & orchestral percussion, and builds into a grand, pastoral, "classical" feel. The album closes with the sweeping, melodic "Journey to a Fantasy", another track which is built around a keyboard wall-of-sound - but this time with electric guitars & drums adding a little more of a progressive-rock feel. Ah, and it would be remiss of me not to add one more thing - Kitaro's keyboard/synth playing on this album is simply stunning! While Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, & Patrick Moraz all enjoy their rightful places in the "keyboard god" hall of fame, I believe that Kitaro deserves a spot in that hall too - at least an honorable mention! As a synth soloist, Kitaro's creativity, control, and sense of melody is second to none in my opinion. For fans of synth music, "Light of the Spirit" is actually one of Kitaro's most keyboard-oriented albums. While later albums (namely "Ancient", "Gaia", and the new age genre masterpiece, "Mandala") would bring a wider variety of exotic & ethnic instuments to the forefront, "Light of the Spirit" keeps the keyboards front & center throughout most of its running time. All in all, if you are a fan of Kitaro, don't hesitate to buy this one. If you are not yet familiar with this master of his genre...this is an EXCELLENT place to start!

Customer Reviews:
not to great.......2007-04-04
We were disappointed with this CD, but for the price I guess we can't expect much. I didn't care for the new style presentation of the songs. I like a more traditional rendering.
Not so bad, 100 tunes for 4$.......2005-06-22
I red the comments of two other people who have bought this 4 CD BOX SET and it is not really so bad. I will even add that there are some excellent tunes. However, I must agree with the fact that few tunes seem to have been recorded 40 or 50 years ago, mainly when you hear the scratches of an old turntable but it is just 2 or 3 tunes. Furthermore, if you do not know American music, it is a good BOX SET to buy if you consider that you received 4 CD for 4$ including 100 tunes. On these 4 CD, I have heard some orchestration that I have never heard before and I consider that they are different but interesting. Any way, after hearing these 100 tunes, you will say to yourself that you like this tune, this other tune, this other tune and so on and you will be able to buy a more expensive CD with the tunes that you like. However, I have bought many CDs in the last few weeks and as you know, there are always some tunes that you like and some tunes that you do not like on every CD that you will buy. So, don't buy it at 25$ but at 4 or 5$ dollars, it is a very good choice for 100 tunes.
You get what you pay for........2004-07-04
You get what you pay for. The singers put their own spin on the singing of each song. If you didn't hear the words you would not recognize some of them. Even some of the music sounds like a bad recording of music played on a turntable. Definitely not worth the price.
Now I know why there were no song samples to listen to ..........2004-07-04
I wish this review had been here when I was thinking of purchasing it. I guess you get what you pay for. If you are thinking of buying this, you are better off recording your own CDs (or at least buying one that you can listen to a sampling of the songs). This album includes songs that were mere recordings of the songs playing on an old record player. It's almost so unbelievable that it is funny.

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful disc from the Austin-based Conspirare.......2006-11-17
I acquired this cd a couple of weeks ago and have not been able to take it out of my cd player since. This is a quality recording of a wide variety of choral literature, all of which Conspirare performs marvelously. A truly wonderful arrangement by Conspirare's own conductor, Craig Hella Johnson, "Hard Times" is actually one of my favorite tracks on the entire cd, the gorgeous soprano solo and the powerful climax never fail to give me chills. Also noteworthy is the stunning performance of the increasingly popular Ticheli piece, "There Will Be Rest." Almost all of the literature on this disc is very good, and it is all breathtakingly sung by Conspirare.
The only track I didn't like was the unbearably tacky arrangement of "Deep River." This is no fault of the choir as it is sung beautifully, but the singing just can't conquer the tackiness of the arrangement. I had already begun to develop a negative opinion of it as I listened, and then out of nowhere, this ridiculous wailing saxophone entered(a la Kenny G) and I was not braced for the impact. "This is really lame" is all I could think of as the sap oozed out in all its glory. He also has another go at it towards the end as well, just to warn you. This is just way too much to handle! Whenever you want ultimate cheese, adding a saxophone solo of this style is quite a simple solution. Needless to say, I skip this track every single time I come to it. However, this is only my humble opinion, and you should listen to it and pass your own judgment... perhaps this track is your perfect cup of tea!
Aside from this one track, I am absolutely in LOVE with what Conspirare has done here. If you can muster the funds, go ahead and treat yourself to a captivating gem of choral music. Highly recommended!
Excellent Artistry and Technical Production.......2005-10-07
Highlights are Ticheli's "There Will Be Rest" and Whitacre's "Sleep" - certainly the best recordings of these 2 exquisitely beautiful pieces currently available and they alone made the purchase worth it. Single lowlight is the arrangement of Foster's "Hard Times..." which is lovely but ultimately detracts from the song's stark lyrical power. Although breaths are often (somewhat jarringly) audible, technique is otherwise very fine, the artistry is excellent and the technical production is first rate.
Picky Minnesotan approves..........2005-04-08
It's heartening for this Minnesotan to discover a choral group continuing on the tradition of impeccable quality that my state's own now-defunct Dale Warland Singers brought to ears for many years.
I had never heard of Conspirare, but will be looking out for more work from them! I enjoyed most every track and think anyone who enjoys sensitive, yet powerful choral singing will want to check this out.
Topnotch in every aspect........2005-01-18
Finally! An American choir that can rival the greats from Britain. This CD is amazing. Not only is the artistry and singing topnotch, the production values are impeccable. Plus, it's not the standard choral repertoire we've all grown bored with. I strongly recommend this CD to anyone who loves fine singing. I hope this is just one of many CDs to come.

Customer Reviews:
a voice teacher and early music fan.......2007-02-05
This is a really good representation of 20th century hymn tunes sung by a typical British Choir made up of boy sopranos, male altos and the usual number of tenors and basses. The choir sings very well using good diction and appropriate interpretation. The arrangements are varied, different groups of voices singing parts of a hymn usually alternating and eventually the full choir joins in; nothing unusual in the arrangements themselves. There is a nice variety of hymns, some more interesting than others. I will comment on a few of them as follows:
The opening hymn:'Christ, triumphant, ever reigning' is a good opener in that it is quick and begins with the boy sopranos and immediately gets your attention. John Barnard's majestic 'Guiting Power' tune sweeps the words up in a wide-ranging,flowing melody that creates from them a fine hymn.
'I, the Lord of sea and sky(Here I am, Lord) is a truly striking hymn! The words of this song begin with a proclamation in the verses; this is answered in the refrain by the singer's commitment to service. This is reflected in the tune. The melody for the verses has a vigorous movement to proclaim the work of God in creation, His continuing love for that creation, and His call for service. Both the words and music are by the American Jesuit musician Daniel L. Schutte, who has served both on college campuses and in parish ministry.
'All My Hope On God Is Founded' the tune of which is written by Herbert Howells and is called 'Michael'in memory of his son who died in childhood. It is a lovely melody and the words suit it very well.
The composer Ralph Vaughan Williams was the music editor of the 'English Hymnal'. The most widely used of his own tunes was the 'Monk's Gate' which he created from a folk tune. It is subtly contrived, as the rhythm of the alleluias shows. 'Sine nomine' simply means without a name. The resulting hymn is 'For All the Saints'.
The Wells Cathedral Choir under the direction of Malcolm Archer accompanied by Rupert Gough on the organ have produced an excellent disc.
Dan Schutte's Here I Am, Lord.......2001-01-08
I bought this collection because I saw the song, Here I Am, Lord written by Daniel Schutte. I grew up singing this song and many other pieces from the St. Louis Jesuits and this continues to be one that has deep meaning for me. In addition, the other pieces in this collection are very enjoyable to listen to, not only for worship but for time of reflection.

God is an Englishman.......2000-06-05
After the Anglican Communion, particularly the American branch, has completed its transformation from a church to a political-social club, at least it will be remembered for two things: the beautiful and influential language of its Book of Common Prayer (1662) and its wonderful music. The English Hymn, volume 1, is a promising start to another English music series by Hyperion. This series complements Hyperion's English Anthems series, its Psalms at St. Paul's (many volumes of Anglican chant), and its two-CD collection of "Mags and Nuncs" (My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord and My Spirit Hath Rejoiced). Volume 1, "Christ Triumphant," features hymns written in the 20th century. The styles of the hymns range from confident, pre-Great War, "God is an Englishman" roof-raisers to insipid, happy-clappy jingles, which inadvertently, I assume, parallel the decline of the church. The Wells Cathedral Choir sings with gusto and, typical of Hyperion, the sound quality is excellent. My only disappointment came when the CD ended - is this all there is to the 20th century? I hope Hyperion plans to include more than one volume on the 20th century in this series. If you enjoy this type of music, you will be satisfied with this CD. If you have CDs from the other series listed above, the English Hymn, vol. 1, and a programmable, carousel-CD player, now you can click your heels and transport yourself to Evensong at King's College, Cambridge, or St. Paul's, London!

Product Description
"In the twilight between waking and sleeping, there is the power of self-transformation". Yoga Nidra is a method of complete relaxation and personal transformation. Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, uses guided meditation and imagery, and body and breath awareness. Yoga Nidra practice opens the door to mental, emotional and physical healing. It assists you in achieving your personal aspirations and spiritual goals. Yoga Nidra works by using a positive affirmation that is repeated through the practice. Yoga Nidra is a kind of sleep, where the mind hovers between consciousness and unconsciousness. The practitioner sleeps and dreams consciously. Yoga Nidra relaxes tensions that accumulate in the muscles, the emotions and the mind, allowing the practitioner to rest deeply. It is one of the easiest methods by which you can reach a state of deep meditation. You will notice results after the very first Yoga Nidra practice. You will be more calm, more peaceful. Repeated practice will deepen your peace of mind. The practice is started by lying down in a comfortable position, on the floor or the bed, with the eyes closed. The practitioner is guided through special visualizations. The visualization practice ends with images that promote healing, peace and calmness. Then the practitioner is gradually transitioned to regular consciousness. The positive affirmation is stated at the beginning and end of the practice.
