I stumbled upon this amazing CD when I was shopping for the Saint Germain Des Pres Cafe series (all of which are fabulous by the way).
The ambience from the first track, "I Feel Blue" sets the scene for the whole album, however expect surprises, just when you settle back and chill to the tunes of more like this, (especially the beautiful track 8, "Ou Es-Tu Passe Mon Saint Germain Des Pres"? by Nicoletta), suddenly expect to tap your feet to the amazing "Quand On S'Aime" by Nana Mouskouri (I know!!!) and Michel Legrand. This uptempo track is contagious and continues through the CD. Contemporary artists and tunes mix with beautiful sounds from Nina Simone and Blossom Dearie. Put this CD on, make a cafe latte, sit back in the sun with the Sunday papers and just relax..you deserve it.

Chill world music that makes you happy........2004-03-16

I picked up Cafe De Flore to try and learn some French before a vacation, and I haven't been able to quit listening to this wonderful album. The songs are arranged perfectly, and the diverse selection of artists shows a true appreciation for all types of music.

If you like downtempo, chill, soul, or jazz, you will adore this album. Take a chance and learn some French. You won't regret it.

One of JMJ's best.......2007-01-28

This is an excellent album from JMJ, one of his best IMHO. For JMJ fans, this is a must-have. For fans of electronic music, this is a must-have. Rendez-Vous could have been the soundtrack to an epic sci-fi film but still stands alone as an excellent example of composition and craftsmanship. The last track "Final Rendez-Vous" was intended to be the first song ever recorded in space. Astronaut Ron McNair of the Space Shuttle Challenger had brought along his saxophone on the shuttle and was going to play and record it for this song. Unfortunatley, tradgedy struck on that fateful day in January of '86 and Ron was killed along with 6 other American astronauts. The song, both very sad and beautiful at the same time is dedicated to his memory.

Definitely worth the money and an excellent addition to anyone's music collection.

Better than Zoolook but..........2007-01-04

As you might think, I am not a die hard fan of JMJ, I think that when only die hard fans rates an album, it makes you think that with such a high rating, everybody should love this album and this is not the thruth.
Not everybody like this king of musical experimentation, some do but some don't...I like Oxygene and Equinoxe, and even after all those years, they are still good to listen too. Rendez vous offers some really good moments, but we are far from the perfection as Oxygene or Equinoxe. Rendez-vous is easier to get use to that Zoolook is, but we are far from a near perfect album. That's all !

when the other reviewers say that rendez-vous 4 sounds "dated" that's not necessarily a bad thing. if you like 80s synth pop like OMD or early pet shops boys, you should like this just fine.

Rendezvous.......2006-04-06

Rendezvous~ Jean-Michel Jarre is a very nice album from Jarre. The laser harp tracks are truly amazing and set the tone. Some of the sounds used on tracks like the fourth rendezvous sound very dated and as if he was using toy keyboards instead of the expensive keyboards listed on the album. It has definite vibes of the space music that he created on Equionoxe and some of the sounds harken back all the way back to Oxygene. Still I feel that it is not nearly as even or creative as his prior releases and one wonders aloud if he has become a bit lazy and creates just enough to sell albums instead of the masterworks of the past.

A MUST for your classic hard rock/metal collection!.......2005-09-13

Krokus was a Swiss hard rock/metal band that not many took too seriously. They weren't as 'low on the metal totem pole' as let's say Warrant or Trixter, but they had their detractors. Which is a crying shame since Krokus had some truly great songs with excellent 'grit your teeth' guitar riffing and song dynamics. Some of those tunes are on 'Metal Rendez-Vous'. I just had to pick this up on CD, since I had this album, and 'rocked out' to it bigtime in the early 80's. 'Tokyo Nights' and 'No Way' are 2 examples of great, nicely structured rock songs with excellent hard rock guitar riffs, and I could have sworn I even heard Sebastian Bach approve of these guys in a dream I had! Which makes Krokus all right by me! Great band, great CD! I only wish the CD was truly remastered.

not many albums can boast that every song is great. this is one of them. this album never got any credit. (...) I have a rock n roll encyclopaedia and krokus is not even listed (what a travesty).hardware and headhunter were good albums but they dont touch this album.

THEIR BEST ALBUM ( I THINK ).......2000-09-26

This was my first Krokus album i had ever heard, and the tape stayed in the tape deck for years. What a great album! 10 tracks that will be in your head forever. It's been 20 years ago that i first heard it, and it's still one of my favorite albums of all time.Maybe it's because it's one of my first rock albums that i had, but i still think that this album musically is a great rock album. No difficult guitar riffs and lyrics that you can remember after one time of listening. Just straight Rock 'n Roll!!!!! GREAT!!!!

A sophisticated AC/DC from Switzerland !.......2000-05-09

This is definitely their best album. Like I said in the title these guys love AC/DC, but instead of just copying that band they add melody and complexity. Everything has been taken care of: good lyrics, catchy aggressive guitar riffs, (long) melodic solos, ballsy drums and a super vocalist. What more do you want ? The follow-up "Hardware" is their second best, but from then on the "party every day" took over from the "rock'n' roll all night" and they never got back to this level again. Metal Rendez-vous is Hard Rock at its best, so get this into your collection !

The first album where Krokus played "heavy metal." It isn't as aggressive nor as good as their next three albums, but it is very good nevertheless. (BTW, this album was recorded in '79 and released in '80.)

Wonderful voice, bad translations........2006-12-21

This CD does not show her voice to it's full capacity, but I like her music a lot. I own nearly all her CD's and definitely prefer the songs in French to the English translations. If you like European techno you will like this CD in French or English. (I recomend the French version though.) For those who think she does not have a great voice, check out her Vie en Rose CD. She covers some French classics and while the versions may not be traditional or lyrics complete, her voice gave me goosebumps. It shows off her sound better without the distractions of the techno beat. In-Grid is definitely a wonderful singer and will hopefully be around a long time. Her variety thus far gives me hope she will endure long after techno is passé.

This album stinks. Because there are two CDs, it stinks twice as bad. The only reason I can think of to explain the good reviews written about this album is that they all must be written by In-Grid's relatives. The music is so shallow and simple that anyone could go to Radio Shack, buy the cheapest electronic keyboard, press the DANCE BEAT button and a few other keys, and produce equivalent music. After hearing that same stupid beat over and over, track after track, I couldn't bear to listen to more than the first few seconds of the next track. The voice wasn't much better. If the music was good, I could deal with the voice. And, there were too many times when she ran out of words and we get to hear lots of la la la la, dum de dum dum's. Well, I don't like to pay for those either.

if you like a music, you will like this cd. I have travelled to many countries, and what struck me as odd, is the entire country was fond of this girls music, and she is not even a citizen, i am talking about both Ukraine and russia, they play her songs like as if they have no other music available, you hear her everywhere, it seems she has an excitement with her music that help people feel good, and not to mention her music goes very well with almost everything, from a party, to a disco to a romantic time, her songs go from one extreme to another, with colorful feeling and emotion, she will be a hit here i think in america , unfortunately her music has one song in english and it has a lot to be desired, because of the translation, it will be better to listen to it in french and ofcourse listen to the music, it very quickly you will be addicted to the melody. the videos on the second disc were a treat, but you must watch them on the computer ofcourse. I was also happy with a1bestsellers service, the package was different, but the songs were the same.

In-Grid is Wonderful !!!!.......2004-03-15

I was visiting Munich on a business trip in Feb. 2003, when I saw the Tu Es Foutu video on tv in the hotel and was instantly in love. She is a wonderful singer who could sing anything with or without accompaniment. Her songs can bring tears to your eyes they are so damn good. This album is worth every cent you pay for it. I can't wait for her next album.

This is a gorgeous soundtrack. Almost every song is beautiful. There is so much emotion here. Richard Cocciante and Elisabeth Anais did an incredible job with this. And, the cast is absolutely phenomenal. I can listen to this over and over again without tiring of it.

Daniel Lavoie is perfect as always. Cathialine Andria has a beautiful voice. Jeff is just wonderful as the Prince. Richard Cocciante's melodies are wonderful. I can't even say with certaintly which song is best. They are all so very wonderful. This is just an exquisite piece of music. Entirely perfect.

This CD is absolutely amazing. I am eighteen years old and I strongly dislike musicals; I don't enjoy watching them, and I don't enjoy listening to the music. But my french teacher played this cd for us in class after reading the book and I was blown away. The composition, the lyrics, and the amazing vocal talent that fills this CD makes it a must-listen for anyone who is a fan of Le Petit Prince, musicals, or anyone who speaks french. Even if you don't (though that leaves out the moving lyrics), this CD is just amazing. It's more than worth it to have it shipped over from france.

As a high school teacher of French, I played the CD in my advanced French class with some initial concerns as to how it would be received. I have been going over the lyrics and playing each song individually to the class. MY CLASS HAS BEEN BLOWN AWAY! Several boys want to buy the CD for themselves. One girl wants to sing a song for our school's annual talent show. They love the voice of the Little Prince and ask me to play his songs frequently. Several students have become big fans of the book and their enthusiasm is making the class very delightful.

This CD is wonderful. I saw the musical twice while I was in France, and couldn't get enough of it. The music is soothing, yet brings out all the intense joy and emotion of the book. Daniel LaVoie and Jeff do amazing jobs with the songs, and each song is a new discovery. I highly reccomend this CD to anyone, even if they don't speak French.

Truly interesting.......2004-10-23

Ok, so everyone who's heard "You Promised Me" is probably VERY tired of it.

Well, perhaps you shouldn't get this album. It is laced with French and Italian influences, set to hypnotic dance beats and trancy synths.

Personally I love the album. The Benassi Brothers dipped a hand for the track "Summer Souvenir" which makes it fun, exciting, and a bit psychotic towards the end.

While some of the songs on this disc are similar, overall the disc is very appealing and a lot of fun to listen to. Her voice, while thickly accented, is easy and enjoyable to sing to, and the songs are simple enough to be universally understandable.

I recommend it, it's a great dancey album.

This is an awesome album. It has that european feel to it, and if you like european music, then you will like this. Ingrid brings an amazing beat to every song. It makes you want to get up and dance with the songs. It really is a great album. I recommend it to everyone who like this type of music (european). But WARNING - This is the english version. Just in case some of you are looking for the original (french). It is still awesome though either way !!!

Great CD--But Caution: This is the English Version.......2004-06-30

If you are like me and want the ultra-cool French version, you need to order the Import. I didn't know this and got this one--I wish Amazon had mentioned this in the description. Anyway, the music is still wonderful, but to me it just didn't have quite the cache the orginal European version did.

Very Beautiful and Dance The Night Away!!!.......2004-06-17

In-Grid's "Rendezvous" is the best album. With the hits, "You Promised Me (Tu Es Foutu)", "In-Tango", and the latest, "Shock", she crafted beats with the French style that makes us, the listeners, dance all night long. Some of the standout tracks were "Mais La Nuit...Il Dort" (In The Night...He Sleeps), "Pour Toujours" (For Always), "Esclave De Toi" (Slave To You), and "I'm Folle De Toi" (I'm Crazy For You).

It also have a second disc with remixes; 2 for "Tu Es Foutu" (Extended and Miami Grazin' Dub), a Benny Benassi Sfaction mix for "You Promised Me", an extended mix of "In-Tango", a Gambafreaks remix and the Christmas version of "Shock" (my favorite!!)

Like the female artists, they stick with the same beat and go on to a different beat and it sometimes pass or fail depending on the audiences' reactions. But with In-Grid, she sticks with the accordian and make beats that never be forgetful for many years to come.

So, go get the album, you'll be very surprised!!!

I discovered "You Promised Me" and just enjoy the hell out of this number and it's mixes. It perfectly captures the frustration and irony of a stuck up sex object, who makes unreasonable demands, "the moon and the sky," and is pissed off at you because "you forgot."

The accordian makes it. She is very easy going this girl: She only has One Rule.
