Customer Reviews:
See The Stars.......2007-02-05
I gave this CD to my girlfriend to listen to, and then I looked on Amazon to remind myself what I gave her. The only review for it was from a California idiot, so now I feel compelled to say........It is a 'critique', meaning (critical evaluation) of American culture, and a right one. If you can read between the lines, then this CD is for you. If you(she) only knew......,then love would come to town.
A Curio From A Lost Past.......2003-04-16
Cassandra Complex sounded fairly keen back in the day, but perspective reveals that they are a lot like Depeche Mode. They are; of course, early electronica and proto industrial, but fans of the more recent genres may find them too subdued. Best tracks are `Nice Work (If You Can Get It)' and `What Turns You On', both about serial killers, which should give you some idea of the monochromatic nature of the disc. Sure, the sameness is sort of the point, as they are attempting to make an artistic statement about the mechanical nature of modern society, and their sound definitely fulfills that ambition, trouble is unengaging, distant music however intentional makes for an unengaging distant album. Thus, their success is also their failure. Will be popular with nostalgia junkies and fans of 80s electronica of the early Human League stripe
