I listen to his guitar and I don't hear a deadman--I hear a beautiful soul singing--very much alive. I don't understand why somone so great would want to stop playing. The world is terrible--but Roy wasn't and istn't. Please--if you play good or great guitar--don't off yourself. Even if you just play for fun, and you enjoy it--don't off yourself because you might not have a guitar over there!!

This release truley capture's the man's playing and influences. Peter Gunn smokes as does Jungle Gym,Pedal to the Metal and You can't Judge A Book.Cream of the Crop is buchanan magic and Drowning On Dry Land---enjoy the crack band too with Donald Kinsey,Larry Exum and co.

    Yes, this CD is very special to me. I'd catagorize this with my happy music series. It takes you from shear happiness and joy to inter-galactic inner peace. I know that may sound a bit out there, but you must have it in your collection to know what I mean. I'm truly blessed to have found this CD again after losing it with around 600 other CD's in my first collection. I won't go into that sad part of my life, but this CD should have been re-issued years ago. I'd like to know what Kit is up to lately, because he's a true talent.

    I interviewed Kit Walker around the time this album came out, and he was a very good interview. He was very quiet and laid back, but over the phone one could sense the intensity with which he followed his music and his passion. This recording was an eye opener for me, and I realized that Walker was on the verge of tapping into jazz, fusion and new age and as he said breaking down boundaries. This adventurism is something that has colored all his work since.

    "Natural Habitat," with its thumping rhythm section and layered keyboards is a great beginning. "Spacewalk" features Zakir Hussein on tabla, and a number of Windham Hill friends such as Andy Narell appear here. "Temple of Stars" and "When the Mountains Talk" were also favorites of mine.

    This is great intro to Kit Walker's music. I've played it countless times over the years to friends, including musicians, and they all get it to one extent or another. I think you will as well.

    I had been looking for this CD for years until recently when I purchased it by sheer luck. Kit's musical style is truly remarkable. Every track on the album is outstanding, from "Spacewalk" to "When the Mountains Talk" to "Wind and Water". With the help of musicians Steve Smith and Andy Narell, this is one of the finest Smooth Jazz albums ever made! Buy it if you can find it!

          Album Description

          There's more to traditional Jewish popular music than klezmer clarinet and Broadway-style fiddling on the roof. Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano revives the lively genre of Jewish cabaret and music hall songs from early twentieth-century Vienna and other vibrant centers of Jewish life.

          Based on new scholarship from the University of Chicago, the CD entertains with songs of self-deprecating humor, political and cultural commentary, and social idealism (made all the more poignant by the unthinkable catastrophe soon to unfold).

          You'll discover unfamiliar works by familiar names -- Weill, Milhaud, and even Schoenberg -- plus gems by once-prominent songsmiths such as Friedrich Holländer, a cabaret compatriot of Weill in the intimate cellar nightspots of Weimar Germany, and the inventive and gifted Hanns Eisler, closely associated with the cutting-edge political theater of Bertolt Brecht.

          The songs offer vivid storytelling set to music drawn from varied sources including waltz, tango, and jazz. Featured singers are two Chicago cantors, exuberant soprano Deborah Bard and idiomatic baritone Stewart Figa, and mezzo-soprano Julia Bentley, a sublime and highly sought interpreter of 20th century music. Cabaret-jazz accompaniment is by the (all-American) New Budapest Orpheum Society, an ensemble of violin, double bass, piano, and percussion.

          Liona's playing never ceases to amaze me. On this album Liona wonderfully blends renaissance beauty with contemporary stylings and she does it effortlessly. Take for example the first track, "Renaissance Fair," Liona's use of classical renaissance phrasing and interludes are brilliant. The music really lives up to the title. "We're Only Children" I found to be 4:18 minutes of pure inspiration. The song really reflects on childhood memories and hope for the future."Take The Open Road" is more of a straight contemporary song, but it's very relaxing. "Dancing On The Edge" and "I'm Breakin Loose" are both modern and upbeat. I think Liona is the only classical guitarist that can fuse these different styles and do it with comptence. From an artist's point of view I'm sure it's not easy putting it all together, but for the listener it is effortless magic. "Night Of The Gypsies" and "Return Of The Knights" are a return to her classical wizardry. "Days Of Love And Innocence" is a slow and melodic ballad that tells an interesting story."At The End Of The Day' is another masterfull blend of modern renaissance. The opening melodies in "Samsara" are inspiring followed by sometimes haunting rhythyms. The electric guitar additives are different, but it comes off well. You can really hear the right hand command Liona has with her technique. It's the same with "Farrwell My Friends." Both songs are impressive. The last track "Street Heat" is a fully modern style song with classical melodies and soloing. It was interesting to hear borderline funk basslines under classical guitar soloing. Overall I really enjoyed this album and I highly recommend it.

          She plays like with degree of passion that could come from a master musician. She is the best classical Guitar player that I ever heard. She compos her pieces with flamboyant melodies and such a rich rhythms that takes us beyond this world.

              Album Description

              Meet Madame Static. She's all the rage. She's ultra modern, but still a little traditional. We think you're going to love her.

              Madame Static is the latest release from Boston's All the Queen's Men: Christine Zufferey, vocals, samples, keys; Catherine Capozzi, guitars, noise escapes; Christopher Farrell, bass; and Tamora Gooding, drums, percussion, drum loops.

              The album, which represents an exciting new musical direction for the five-year-old outfit, features eight tracks, including five new AQM compositions: "You Want Me," "Fit the Dress," "We're the Same," "Azalaya" and "Naha."

              "What we're trying to do with the music is bridge rock with electronic music," Gooding explains. Gooding calls the musical blend on Madame Static "rocktronica," and adds, "I think when you say that one word, it really defines what we're trying to do — and in what direction we're heading."

              Produced by All the Queen's Men, Madame Static was recorded in the spring of 2001 at Electric Space Blanket Studios in Boston with Gooding and Zufferey engineering and mixing. Marc-Dieter Einstmann mastered the recording at Sonic Silver Studio.

              Besides the five new AQM tracks, Madame Static includes three remixes of "Azalaya" — two industrial-style remixes by Bill T. Miller, who is well known for his work with Boston-area noise bands, and one remix by Hostage, a Swiss techno duo that includes Zufferey's brother, Andy.

              The lead track, "You Want Me," has been included in the soundtrack for the independent film, Role Play, which is currently being screened at film festivals across the country.

              All the Queen's Men will be touring extensively in the Northeast in support of Madame Static during the latter part of 2001.

              AQM has been a strong underground band on the Boston music scene for several years, primarily through monthly live performances and a few demo recordings. The CD release of "Madame Static" allows the vision of this dynamic ensemble to be expressed in full - a powerful, new and addicting sound. Rocktronica is an apt description.

              Good stuff from good, talented people - watch out for this group!
