Album Description

This CD brings together selections from Emerald Web's recordings Nocturne and Lights of the Ivory Plains, creating a delicate balance of musical atmospheres. It flows from the haunting melodies of bass flute and Celtic harp to the intricate, rhythmic permutations of digital synthesizers to the timbral diversity of the Lyricon wind-driven synthesizer paired with the Japanese shakuhachi flute. With this music, Emerald Web combines a series of evocative, musical spaces into a graceful, unified whole.

Emerald Web is Bob Stohl and Kat Epple, who perform in concert and produce music for a variety of applications, including film and television soundtracks, dance, and planetarium shows, in addition to sound recordings.

5 out of 5 stars The Music Sounds as Good as the Picture Looks.......2002-08-29

I had never heard this before unless it was on a new age radio station near hear some 12 years ago. If I did hear it I can't remember. I went through the new age section of "All Music Guide". This CD along with "Manatee Dreams of Neptune" sounded like two discs I would like to buy. But "Dreams" is not available currently. As far as this CD goes: I liked it from the beginning but didn't think it sounded like anything special until tonight. This is about my fourth listen. This is incredible new age music. It may not be fast enough for you in places and be repetitive in places but it makes up for it. The title track introduction sounds a little like Vangelis, only better. I've heard a lot of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and yes, Vivaldi. If you like the music by these groups and I'd like to add an additonal artist: Tim Story, you should really like this CD. I almost want to tell you how terrible it sounds in hopes that if Manatee Dreams of Neptune shows up I'll have a better chance of getting it also.

5 out of 5 stars Ah, the memories.......2000-02-20

I was introduced to Emerald Web by a special lady in the late `80s. When I saw this CD all those memories flooded back. The tapes I bought long ago of all their available works are prized possessions. This double album is a favorite of mine. It merges the two best albums into one. It flows well even when transitioning from one album to the other. I recommend this to all New Age lovers as an example of the genre when it was young and experimental.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent album, very artful and unique.......1999-03-14

This is an excellent album for classical and "new age" fans alike. I heard it back in 1989 and was lucky enough to find that Amazon.com had it! I would highly reccommend this album for Vivaldi fans! Very restfull and thought-provoking in turns. Enjoy!
