Behzad brought a new life to me with his music.I am so happy that I purchased this cd because behzad plays a beautiful and warm music.He originally is full of talent and skill.He mixes the eastern and spanish music with new age pop flamenco music.I have listened to many different artist's music;however,behzad is different.He plays the spanish guitar from his soul,passion.This brought me a new life and love to my heart.My girl friend felt in love with his music,specially track number 5.She loves his music same as I do.It brought romance and passion to us....Viva Behzad......

Warm, Aromatic, Beautiful.......2000-08-10

This particular CD is probably one of the best I own in this genre: Nouveau Flamenco. Behzad, generously, allows his audience to reap the benefits of his background and training. Whereas the tracks all contain the traditional Spanish sounds, the warm Middle Eastern melodies interweave themselves to render the softest, most beautiful tapestry I've every experienced.

Please listen to Track 5. You will know what I'm talking about.

I recommend this CD, highly, to anyone who wants to treat all of their senses. Behzad takes you on a ride where every one of your senses is enlivened and treated delicately and lovingly.

Both of Behzad's CD's are in the CD changer in my car along with Paco de Lucia, Gino D'Auri, Juan Martin and Strunz and Farah. I've listened to Behzad's music almost everyday for 2 months straight and each time I find something new to fall in love with. Behzad's music provides the perfect balance and variety between tradition and innovation, joy and melancholy. Behzad is up there among the best guitar players in the new age music arena. A powerful guitarist with a mixture of Flamingo rhythms mixed with melodies from central Middle East. I was disappointed that these are not the same arrangements as the original movie soundtracks. For example, in Colonel Bogey, the countermarch from the movie soundtrack is not included in the arrangement on this CD. Don't get me wrong, the songs are good, but I would have preferred the same arrangements as the original movies.

An outstanding compilation.......2006-08-25

This compilation is superb and a real must-buy. From Band of Brothers to A Bridge Too Far: every war movie theme is represented here. An all time classic.

The really good ones are missing........2005-07-18

While this compilation has some masterpieces such as the theme from The Great Escape and Is Paris Burning, it's missing some of the finest tracts ever written. Where is the theme from Victory and Ernest Gold's stirring epic from Cross of Iron? The closing theme from Inchon was also a feast for the ears, but it's not here. It was written by Jerry Goldsmith, one of the foremost soundtrack composers of our time. Instead we're subjected to the likes of Hanover Street and The English Patient. I'll admit Inchon and Victory weren't Academy Award winning movies, but their soundtracks were second to none. As John Stossel would say," Give me a break"!!!

Strings of Desire for Lovers of Music.......2000-04-08

Strings of Desire is a collaborative venture between two giutar virtuosos.There is no additional insrumentation other than the musicians themselves playing acoustically.This CD cites jazz,pop and MPB in the liner notes and is packed full of great tunes,10 in all,9 covers kicking off with "frevo", continuing with Jobims "Stoneflower" but including "Night in Tunisia" and a refreshing rendition of the ever popular standard "My Favourite Things" with one original composition by Andy Summers "Samba for Counting the Days". If you havn`t got it ,get it, because anyone who loves music might hear "Strings of Desire" as a valuable addition to their collection.

Complex acoustic fretwork with brazilian jazz sounds.......1999-02-26

An excellent release from Andy Summers. I have been a fan of his for a few years and and can definitley appreciate his musical talents. To some, this recording may sound a bit rough and esoteric, but to others it will sound downright beautiful. He covers tunes by Brazillian musicians as well as Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, and George Rogers. I saw him play in January at the Baked Potato in Hollywood and he was awesome. Not only that, but he also autographed my guitar and we chatted a bit. GET THIS RECORDING.

I've listened to this CD hundreds of times. It is very soothing and has a great variety of instruments. Woodwinds are very cool in some songs. I would definetly reccomend this CD to interested people.

I haven't heard this recording; I just wanted to give to something to boost its rating because obviously the other reviewer was writing a review of amazon's search engine and not this recording. I really don't know what rating it deserves, but seeing a recording w/ Wunderlich on it that gets one star just seems wrong.

Oddly enough, Amazon's search engine brought me here when I was searching for "Blue Man Group"....unfortunately, the closest we get is the Blue Danube. Wonderful though it might be, it's NOT Blue Man Group.

Let me reiterate, there is NO Blue Man Group at all on this CD. Not even one track. None. Niente. Nada.

Heck, they aren't even Austrian. Or Australian, for that matter.

Good search engine, Amazon. Way to go.

I love this CD, often putting it on repeat for a romantic evening! I especially like track number ten, since I wrote it as a teenaged girl full of passionate dreams. I am thrilled to be on a recording with Pachelbel and Beethoven and I love Mark Chait's beautiful arrangement of my song! Though all the pieces on this album are different, they flow together gracefully and create a soft, alluring background sound. Two thumbs up!

Strange interpretation of "classical".......2005-01-17

I bought this CD because it contained some songs I was having a hard time finding elsewhere, such as Passo pel prat, Chants d'Auvergne sung by Fredrica Von Stade. However, some of the songs on this CD do not seem to belong e.g. all three songs by John Williams, Mack the Knife, Barbra Streisand, and the Psycho Murder Theme for starters, and many more.

I gave the CD 4 stars only because I was happy that I was able to find a few somewhat rare tracks.

An interesting mix..........2002-05-18

This is a sampler in the truest meaning of the word. I bought this 4 CD work primarly for two tracks, but also because I was interested to see what else was out there without investing a fortune in CD's I wouldn't like! I was surprised by the wide diversity of music ranging from true classical and jazz to contemporary compositions and interpretations.

While I find some tracks divine (Williams's _Schindler's List_), I find other tracks unsettling (_Beau Soir_ performed by Barbra Streisand). But when you are trying to span 100 years of music, you will (and should) encounter all tastes and styles. Overall, I really enjoy listening to this set. My only regret is that I don't have a CD changer...
