Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Rich with flowing spirit, a gentle and evocative vision........1999-07-25

I bought Shelley Snow's CD Shamaneya about a year or so ago and I love it! Though reminiscent of Loreena McKennit and Enya, I like that Shelley is courageous enough to do her own thing. Her music is deep, flowing and gentle. Her own language richly evocative. With each song I am carried through feeling worlds, places I need to go to. I find she is borrowing from rich traditions, the use of music as an important conveyor of her vision as an artist while also being delightful to listen to, and borrowing from women's traditions such as Jodi Foster's 'Nell', a gentle intuitive wildness in us all that needs to be expressed in the world. I think this album is for anyone ready to explore these worlds through this gentle muse, and is for anyone who wants to connect and be carried by the soft, gentle flow. Calming and inspiring.

1 out of 5 stars Loreena?Enya? ...they have no worries.......1998-11-05

The Fan from Columbus who reviewed this obviosly has a tin ear (& didn't spell Loreena McKennitt's name right either)....If you like Loreena or Enya, go get Sheila Chandra or something else, but NOT Shamaneya. Shelley's voice grated at a pitch that hardly seemed very comfortable for her. She'd be better off teaming up with someone with more range. I don't usually slam recordings, but if I could send this back, I would (No fault of Amazon's tho...) From now on I'll wait to HEAR things BEFORE I buy. Oh-Go try Stellamara-Star of the sea...now THERE"S music.... (grumble, mutter)

4 out of 5 stars Haunting, beautiful music.......1998-06-24

If you like Lorena McKennitt and Enya, try Shelley Snow. Her music is in the same genre but refreshingly different
