One That Never Grows Old.......2004-01-23

I picked up Keys To Your Heart back in 1997 after hearing "After Sunset" on a CD sampler. Whenever I'm in the mood to listen to some smooth piano, the "Keys To Your Heart" CD is usually my first choice. There are 4 songs that I listen to over and over again - "Highland Park", "After Sunset", "Miracles', and "You Are My Lady". After all these years all these years this one still sounds great.

I first heard JoeMac live when I stumbled in Terilli's on Lower Greenville (Dallas,Tx) in '96. Why I did not immediately go out & buy this CD that weekend, I cannot tell you, but I deeply regret it. The whole CD is upbeat,with choice vocals on some songs and guest appearances by Grover Jr, Philip Bailey, and other "old schoolers" with a fresh feel from beginning to end. McBride has a "Samplesque" quality about his play (a la Rainbow Seeker) with a funky edge. An absolute must CD for any contemporary jazz affecionado. Don't hesitate, like I did, get it now!!

I don't think too many jazz fans are aware of this fine CD that came out in 96. This is one of those CD's that has enduring value and you will play it over and over again over time. Every song on this CD touched my heart and I cannot believe that I am the first one to send a review on this CD. Terrific songs, also some vocal duets with Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire. Definitely a "must have" for any lover of smooth jazz. Joe is terrific! Get this CD!

Another great CD from David!.......2004-12-04

I recently wrote a review of "Music of the Night", then I remembered that in addition, this CD is another favorite. The only complaint that I have (and this may be a personal preference) is that some of the accompanists overshadow if not detract from some of David's piano solos on several of the pieces. Either the notes don't blend or the sound isn't quite right, I can't exactly say. Listen for yourself. "Beauty and the Beast" is staggeringly beautiful, and any accompaniment is subdued as it should be. Two Billy Joel songs is too much for me, but again, that's a personal preference. Billy Joel's songs just seem like fluff compared to other favorite pop and broadway songs. "Misty" is somehow not exactly as well-composed as it should be. Again, a personal preference, but somehow it doesn't work entirely. Check out "Music of the Night" (from 1994) and "Speak Softly Love" (his newest). More information to follow.
Overall, all of his albums are standouts.

Always and Forever is a beautiful collection of
the greatest love songs. The selection of songs
is fantastic. I recommend every CD David Osborne
has recorded. He is the greatest pianist I have
ever enjoyed. I love music with no words and he
has a style beyond compare to any other artist.
You will not be sorry with any selection you make.

Excellent CD!.......2002-06-01

Any fan of piano music will love this CD!...Beautifully refreshes the nearly worn-out song, "Beauty and the Beast." The Titanic theme is also done masterfully - I can safely say this is the best rendition of it I've ever heard. This CD makes excellent background music for driving, writing, reading, studying - anything! Buy it - I can't imagine how you could be disappointed!

The Greatest!.......2001-07-03

David is a terrific pianist who plays with 'soul'(feeling, sensitivity, you know). His marvelous interpretations of great songs leaves the listener wishing for more. I've played this CD over and over. Somehow, it's best heard in the car late at night. But I'm very lucky! As a Las Vegas resident, I can motor down to Caesar's and hear David perform live. If you like great piano music, you'll love this CD.

Mildly interesting..........2005-08-15

This disc turned out to be a Higher Octave Music sampler. It's
approx. 43min length is kind of skimpy to make a claim of being a
major source for keyboard reference. The juicey liner notes make
you think your listening to a gift for the senses; when in fact there is nothing that stands out here. The first track "Body Language" performed by Jonathan Cain is truly the only mememorable one. While there are 12 tracks listed but there are only
actually nine, as three are more like preludes to the other selections ranging 32sec. to just over a minute and a half. Still
the over all mood is mellow and ideal for late night listening or while reading. There surely is nothing that will break your
concentration! Listen to the samples above, get it only for a cheap price!

Syme has the formality and chops of a classically trained pianist and the heart and soul of a bar-room entertainer. This is a must have for romantic nites and to create a noticeable atmosphere.

Outstanding. His style moves you. With each cut, I think, that was great, only to be bowled over by the next. It is a long CD (over an hour, I believe), but I still didn't want it to end.

Leo Smit has an impressive pedigree as an American composer and musician. A virtuoso pianist, he has worked closely with such legends as Stravinsky, Balanchine, Copland and Stokowski. He has set more that 75 of Emily Dickinson's poems to music, grouping the works into cycles about related subject matter. The album "Keys to the heart" is the most relaxing music that I'v ever heard. I can come home from work, all stressed out, put this cd on and be relaxed in no time. The music and words are written by two very tallented people, Joseph & Unita Akins. Their sequal album is also wonderful. It sounds like its being sung by an angel. I would recomend either one for a person who like to hear good, relaxing music.
