About the Artist
The Ralph Bowen Quartet features four of the finest musicians on the scene today. Ralph made a name for himself playing with Out of the Blue in the 1980s. Charles Fambrough, whose solo record made the Billboard Jazz Charts, has recorded with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers among others. Jim Beard came out of Miles Davis's Band and has lately been recording on ESC records. Bill Stewart's work appears on Blue Note Records.

Product Description
Tenor saxophonist Ralph Bowen is one of those rare musicians who might be described as "passionately intellectual." His writing and improvisational approach satisfy both mind and heart, at once technically interesting and emotionally charged.

Though Morning View follows hot on the heels of Incubus's breakthrough single, "Drive," it doesn't feel rushed. After all, their previous album, Make Yourself, was released nearly two years ago. Like fellow Los Angeles metal pioneers System of a Down, Incubus find themselves lumped in with the nu-metal fraternity merely because they're young(ish), angry, and very loud. That's more than a little unfair, because their sound owes more to the clever and creative funk-metal of Faith No More and the Red Hot Chili Peppers than the faux-rap posturing of Limp Bizkit. In fact, songs like "Nice to Know You," "Circles," and the excellent "Blood on the Ground" display real maturity. But that's not all that sets Incubus apart: on "I Wish You Were Here," "Just a Phase," "11 a.m.," and "Mexico," they show an uncharacteristic willingness to tread softly, using acoustic guitars and touches of strings to make less noise, but more impact. Some could call it selling out, but it sounds more like growing up. Morning View is a leap forward for a band that continues to get better with each release. --Robert Burrow

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars My third favorite Incubus album.......2007-07-17

I consider Make Yourself and SCIENCE to be superior to this album, but this album contains three of my 10 favorite songs by them: "Nice to Know You", "Wish You Were Here" and "Warning". So this album is no slouch. I actually enjoy this one straight through, just as with the previous albums I mentioned. "Just A Phase" is a really cool song, too, but some of the stuff on here is more experimental, so not everyone is going to get into it as much as a die-hard fan would. It is kind of hit or miss with me. To me, Incubus has kind of faltered on the two albums that follow this, so I recommend their earlier stuff up until this one, and if you enjoy the more experimental side of them, then pick up their new ones too.

4 out of 5 stars Incubus continues to improve.......2007-07-03

Each album gets better and better from them. This is no different. Warning is one of my favorite tracks by them ever.

4 out of 5 stars Morning View.......2007-05-03

There are several really good songs on this album. And I typically dont like to just sort of chill and listen to slow jams, but this is an exception.

Favorite Songs:
-Nice to Know You
-Wish You Were Here
-Mexico
-Are You In?

5 out of 5 stars Great Album.......2007-04-10

I love this Incubus album, still listening to it years after it came out.

4 out of 5 stars Light .......2007-02-14

This album is a much lighter attempt by Incubus. They do a good job of making an almost inspirational tone to the entire album. Yet, if you are looking for sounds similar to their previous albums, you'll have a hard time finding any edgyness.

4 out of 5 stars Bonuses probably for collectors only..........2005-06-10

As many have said, the DVD content is pretty limited. Tour videos, a music video, and an abundantly useless discography. It speaks of online offers for a "night time" version of the 'Are You In?' video, but if you're like me and just got the album, the video is no longer available.

As for the music, this is probably what Make Yourself should've been. The sound has improved a bit, and Brandon no longer sounds drowned out by the band.

The best songs are '11 am', 'Just A Phase', 'Mexico', 'Under My Umbrella', and 'Aqueous Transmission'. 'Under My Umbrella' is a nice fast pace sound, with an awesome bridge reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. 'Aqueous Transmission' mixes West with the East and is very effective. The only song I really have a problem with is 'Blood On The Ground'; it just isn't the greatest song ever, and the lyrics are pretty bad.

The best thing about this album is how Incubus tries to display as wide a range as can be managed in the nu-metal-esque genre (yes I know they are not nu-metal). There's dynamic changes, occasional variety in instrumentation, dissonance, and genre fusion (see Aqueous Transmission).

If you're into Incubus, this album gets my highest recommendation (second to A Crow Left Of The Murder).

5 out of 5 stars ..........2004-12-30

im gonna keep this short - BRILLIANT, ABSOLUTLY BRILLIANT!! has summer written all over it!!

5 out of 5 stars what can you say that hasn't already been said?.......2004-10-16

Well, the easiest way to describe this cd is to say that it's like a breath of fresh air. This isn't something I saw coming, I mean I know Incubus evolves and changes with each album, but this is a pretty big step in a new direction few have traveled. Where not many can succeed, Incubus does, and that's why they're definitely not your typical radio or MTV band. Some bands try to recreate the success of a big single, but Incubus builds on what they create, which isn't very usual these days. Brandon Boyd is truely a genius in my humble opinion, he has a flawless voice which he puts on display magnificently, his lyrics are heart felt and simply amazing. Mike, Chris, Dirk, and Jose are at the top of their game once again. They know when to be heavier, and when to be lighter, and they just fit Brandon's voice immaculately. There's not a thing about this cd that could be better.
The DVD is also a treat, which shows Incubus really gives the fans what they want. It features behind the scenes footage (which is absolutely hilarious) and the Are You In? video (which is equally hilarious). This also contains a live version of Warning which shows how good the band is live.
Some of the best songs on here are Nice To Know You, Wish You Were Here, Just A Phase, Warning, and Under My Umbrella. I recommend this cd to anyone and everyone. It has something for everybody.

5 out of 5 stars Wish I Was There!!.......2004-10-09

This album is amazing. A must have. This is one of the few cd's that I can listen to all the way through without pressing the skip button. If you're looking for a good chill album, this is it. Brandon's voice is absolutely beautiful and compliments the wonderful guitar and drum arrangements perfectly. Incubus is the real thing- truly gifted musicians all the way around and will definitely be around for a long time. GO BUY THIS ALBUM RIGHT NOW!!!

5 out of 5 stars Cool........2004-05-17

This is the best cd from Incubus in stores. The music and the DVD are both good. Best cd art i have ever seen. Definitely recommended.

5 out of 5 stars An Amazing Work of Art by Steve Suvada.......2004-07-21

This cd is a wonderful work of art that uses the natural sounding classical guitar to portay many beautiful landscapes. From quiet meadows to a holiday celebration, Steve Suvada depicts a wide range of Richard Pick's most beautiful songs. As a student of Steve Suvada, I can tell you that this cd is a small taste of his incredible talent as a very creative and devoted guitarist. You will surely be amazed by his ability to carry on the wonderful music of Richard Pick.

5 out of 5 stars Finest American Composer for Classical Guitar.......2004-06-27

Richard Pick's music is some of the finest I've ever heard written for the classical guitar. He is truly one of the most underrated voices of his generation, and is wonderfully American and Naturalist in his themes. I hope people will listen to this wonderful performance by Mr. Suvada and thank him for perpetuating the music of this inspiring American composer...Richard Pick. It is obvious to the listener that he worked closely with Richard Pick in the production of this recording, so as to come up with the definitive interpretation of Pick's work. The two men made a marvelous team in the production of this beautiful record. Thank you for this gem of American Classical guitar music!!!!

5 out of 5 stars The Quiet Cove,.......2003-12-17

Steve Suvada is the perfect player for this music. Richard Pick's music touches the soul, and can make you forget about any problems of the world that may be in your way. If you are looking for some beautiful music to chill out and relax with, this is a great Cd. If you are a guitarist and not familiar with Pick's music, then you should look into it.

    Album Description

Just when you thought the real singer/songwriter with an original point of view was a thing of the past, along comes Becka Brown with a stunning debut that will make a fervent believer out of the most cynical music fan. With songs that deftly explore the wonders and blunders of love and a voice that sounds like a new morning, Brown manages to sound intimately familiar and like no one you've ever heard -- all at once. If you long for the same rush you felt the first time you heard, say, Joni Mitchell, then Becka Brown is someone you should know.

This is an absolutely fabulous CD. I bought this on a whim from Amazon. I've never done that before and it was a great discovery. The music is very mellow and a joy to listen to. The lyrics are meaningful and true for a lot of people. Becka has a delightful voice. I listen to this at least once a day. We need more Becka. I can't wait for her next CD. When is it coming out? Anyone know? She's a bit like Kate Bush without the tweaky bits. If you like Kate Bush, Eva Cassidy and Mary Black, you'll love this.
