Jungle Journey....a fanciful journey through the depths of the forest, this recording includes the calls of macaws, agouti, peccaries, and an assortment of indigenous birds.

For each purchase in the A Month In The Brazilian Rainforest series of the Atmosphere Collection, a donation will be made to The Nature Conservancy

Dawn Chorus. Rain Forest. Jungle Journey. Evening Echoes. These four recordings comprise A MONTH IN THE BRAZILIAN RAINFOREST, the newest chapter in Rykodisc's Atmosphere Collection series. This series is designed to provide relaxing natural soundscapes as a palliative to the aural pollution of our environnment. These Brazilian recordings are also intended as stimuli for the urgent action needed to protect and preserve the disappearing rain forests by revealing the beauty of these vanishing habitats.

The recordings were collected at two sites in Brazil's Amazon rain forest by conservationist and biological anthropologist Ruth Happel, with the assistance of bio-acoustician Bernie Krause. Happel is the president of Animal Audio Arts, dedicated to raising awareness of the fragility of the natural world.

The Amazon rain forest represents the largest remaining tract of rain forest in the world. Home to over l.5 million species of flora and fauna, with as many as 30 million as yet undiscovered, the tropical rain forest is the most richly diverse ecosystem on earth.

It is also the most endangered. Slash & burn agriculture, cattle ranching, collecting of fuel wood, and the development of plantations are contributing to a rate of deforestation unprecedented on the planet. By the time you listen to one of these four albums, 6,000 acres of rain forest will have been lost.

Relaxing nature at its best.......2007-05-30

THis Cd is good for relaxing or sleeping. It is mostly quiet noises you would hear at night like crickets, some frogs and birds as dawn approaches. I am always asleep by this point so i never hear them, but my preschoolers and toddlers sleep well to this cd as well. It is peaceful and will create an escape if you live in the city. I also love that some proceeds from this cd goes to protect these endangered forests. HIghly recomended.

If you like the sound of crickets and gentle rain, this is the One! For sleep inducement it's great! Maybe the title is wrong, it should say "Cricket Journey" or something alike. For sounds of the Rainforest try "Relax with....Amazing Amazon" or "Rainforest" by Echoes of Nature.

Pure Nature.......2000-08-10

This is my favorite CD. No celtic harps or pan flutes for me. Give me the real thing, just nature sounds which I find very relaxing. I have several other "Rainforest" CD's which are enhanced and artifical. I have 3 parrots and 2 large dogs and I play this for them when I leave the house. I bought Pet Music but I found they like this better. The house is intact and the birds are relaxed. I highly recommend it.
