It's been more than a decade since Ottmar Liebert came on the national music scene with his debut album, Nouveau Flamenco. The German-born guitarist brought a hybrid approach to this passionate Spanish guitar style that made it more atmospheric and brought him one of the largest audiences for an instrumentalist. Each succeeding album has been a deeper exploration of this approach, expanding it into orchestral and ambient terrain. You can hear the guitarist stretching beyond convention on tracks like "Waiting 4 Stars 2 Fall," creating a more cinematic expanse with synthesizer pads and conga drums or doubling up guitars on "Shepherd's Nite Watch." Surrender 2 Love is yet another culling of music from his early years with the Higher Octave label, and like most second "Best of" collections, it is, indeed, second-best. After all, he only recorded three albums for the label in the first place. But Surrender 2 Love is far from being Liebert's dregs, and even on a second pass, he stands six strings above most nouveau flamenco pretenders. --John DilibertoCustomer Reviews:
Another great album by the jazz guitar man.......2006-08-24
Get it and enjoy the great music he created.
Guitar - an extention of his form.......2005-10-22
"a man, guitarist & a love of music".......2001-10-25
Liebert takes the moment, time seems to stand still with each track on this album...it's difficult to select one over the other, because they are not the same in substance, counter-balance or texture...his ability to take a melody, weave a fine tapestry...is what sets him above the rest.

dirty dirty dirty dirty dirty HOUSE.......2006-03-31
Usually I am not a huge fan of mix CDs because as a DJ
its hard for me to use songs that i like in my set but DDH2 is perfect,
not only because of the nasty dirty house music trax that fill this disc,
(fav trax include; Motivation, Freak Your Body 2x, Rock Da Nuggets)
but also the mixes are spaced out enough that i can easily mix the trax i want
into my set! I played Freak Your Body 2x on this past Friday
and the build up made them cheers, it was sick.
thanks to System Recordings for bringing these underground producers to the front of the line!!!
Great mix Astro & Glyde !!! thank you for my new favorite CD!!!
Dirty
Great CD!.......2006-03-29
Lovin the dirty vibe...........2006-03-23
All the tracks rock on this mix, and the mixing is fresh with lots of drop ins and overlays spicing it up.
Stand out tracks are from relative newcomers Jason Merle and Giano--both of them are sportin' a west coast chunk that is infectious and down-right..well...DIRTY!
Recommended!
"2DH2".......2006-03-23
Taking control of the knobs on Vol. 2 are Astro & Glyde, a NYC producer/dj duo whos sounds come off banging and deep at the same time [on their tracks AND their dj sets !] and i'd have to say i was very pleased.
In a market thats dominated by big name artists most often than not taking credit for half-assed compilations with same tracks used over and over again, A&G takes tracks from some of the best up and coming talents in the house music genre and stretches its potential to complete the collage of this musical portrait. I can't say its "mindblowing" or "groundbreaking" here, but nonetheless the tracks are smart and should get the spotlight it deserves.
Matt & The Mammal's "New China Hustle " being one of my fav. in the CD, represents that perfect house track where it doesn't lean too much to a certain style, but delivers a smooth driving bass line with cool vocal samples and all the elements coinciding one another where it sounds as if they were meant to be on that track. Some other gems include Chris Cowie's remix of the Frankie Bones' track "Black & White", 2 Astro & Glyde's tracks, "Motivation & Dunt, dunt dunt", Nightrider's "Fevah" and the highly addictive "I Found Something" by Jay Allegro & Kevin Brown
to name a few.
Def. worth getting, perfect for the drive TO the club or to throw on at a gathering amongst friends and music lovers [hopefully !]. A&G 's Best of Dirty Dirty House vol. 2 picks up where other labels dare to even touch. Props to System for having the vision for such a project, its cool to see labels supporting the underground in a time where its so easy to cave in to the quick buck route and releasing crap commercial compilations. Peace.

Product Description
When I first recorded Fab 4 on 6 I wasn’t thinking about a volume two. I really thought I’d be doing something else for my next solo acoustic CD. However, the response to the first CD has been so overwhelming and positive that it seemed crazy to not do a follow up disc. (Its not like there weren’t any more good Beatles tunes left.) This new CD deviates a bit from the first one. I’m still playing the same guitar but with a different attitude. I wanted to take a few chances this time around and let my imagination play with the songs. Every since I first took up the guitar I’ve always approached music from a personal perspective. From the start I heard things differently and wasn’t afraid to express these differences through embellishment and improvisation. I was forever changing the notes in the songs I was assigned to play. While this made for more expressive (and in my view “better” music) it was a source of frustration to my teachers I’m sure. My background is in blues, funk, soul and jazz. But this is not a jazz record. There’s quite a bit of improvisation here, but it is done in the shadow of these other various styles. I’m approaching the songs with a playful attitude that draws on the myriad of influences that make up my style. I’ve certainly been influenced by the blues and jazz greats, but also by the multi-textural, polyrhythmic work of Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges. My fingerpicking approach is not rooted in the traditional Travis-style school and as such I derive my sense of bass movement and internal rhythm more like a drummer or funk bassist. My harmony is also not dependent on open tunings. All of these songs are played in standard tuning with an occasional drop “D” used on the low string. My harmonic sense is perhaps where my jazz background is evident as I’m comfortable with a wide variety of chordal sounds. What makes these songs work for me is the energy and excitement that I put into them. They are all fun to play and hopefully fun to listen to.Customer Reviews:
