This CD contains incredible music that is not "Shakespearian" in nature--none of those funny out of tune viols, recorders, etc. Renaissance instruments here! I was very pleasantly surprised. This is very melodic, lyrical, rhythmical, and dramatic music that can soothe the heart and excite the soul. A great listening experience and a must for any serious collector of music !

a triple cd with 5 pieces of music?!? steve roach and vidna obmana must have been in a very special mood when they recorded these long-time pieces. i must admit that this is entirely my cup of tea, as 'quiet music' is one of my long-time favourites. two of the three cds consist each of one single piece without any rhythmn. the 'middle' cd has three more rhythmic pieces. these 3h30min flow of music is hypnotic in every moment - i can best describe it as an 'upwelling of sound'. highly relaxing and mysterious - although the piece on the third is called 'revealing the secret', i still have not figured out what secret IS revealed... anyway, if you like 'quiet music', or 'world's edge', this one is for you. 'ascension of shadows' is not as dark as 'world's edge', and not as soothing as 'quiet music', it is somehow deeper. so this upwelling of sound really comes from the deep.
