Not my favorite.......2007-07-23

I am a huge Van Morrison fan, and really like most the songs on this CD, but they are not my favorite version of the songs. A lot of the songs are live, and I expected the studio versions.

Great CD...Van's The Man.......2007-07-19

This is a great CD if you like Van Morrison...Kind of like a greatest hits album really from the various stages of Van's Career....Did not realize how many different movie soundtracks Van has appeared on..My only issue was that the studio version of Into The Mystic is not on here..they used the live version which does not have the same impact on you...still a recommended CD

Brilliant Collection.......2007-07-13

Just got this in and it's a great collection. It pulls together some very famous Van performances (like Caravan from the Last Waltz) and mixes it up with his best studio efforts. It's great.

Van the Man at the Movies.......2007-07-10

As Michael Heatley notes in the excellent accompanying booklet, when Van came in at The Last Waltz, it kicked that last concert of The Band up a notch, and the ensuing energy never came back down. He has that effect and, I think, in general, helped the films his music accompanied, rather than the other way around. This compilation ranges from "Gloria" with Van's early band, Them, to a duet with Roger Waters on Pink Floyd's The Wall of "Comfortably Numb". The question is, however, how well does it hold up for general airtime in the CD player?

Quite well. If you already have The Best of Van Vols one and two CDs, you already have most of the best songs this disc leaves off. Heatley makes the choice of soundtrack songs for the films seem so much a matter of director's decision, that rather than lionizing them for what they did include, you wonder why they left off your favorites. Where's "Full Force Gale"? "When Will I Ever Learn (to Live in God)"? "And It Stoned Me"? One could go on and on. Change of tactic, therefore, to celebrate what is included rather than decry what is not.

This disc ranges over what might be considered the various Van periods, which are distinctive musically. Hungry For Your Love" comes from what Heatley calls the "often overlooked" Wavelength album, which hails from the era of horns and gospel vocal back-ups. Astral Weeks, yes, but I think Wavelength is one of Van's best albums ever. Some songs exist in alt/ live versions here, to good effect, as with the best known classics, "Domino", "Caravan". "Moondance" and "Into the Mystic". The studio versions are easily available but most fans will enjoy hearing the new takes. Van handles them confidently, and drops into his effortless live groove, slurring the words of "Into the Mystic" which, like these other songs, can survive any number of interpretations. "Bright Side of the Road" comes from another Wavelength era overlooked album, Into the Music, which unveiled the amazing "Full Force Gale", the latter conspicuous by its absence. '90s Van appears with the standout "Real Real Gone" and "Days Like These". Two songs will already be familiar to non- van fans, having been hits for John Cougar Mellencamp and Rod Stewart.

As I write, Van still hasn't gotten the Nobel Prize, although he's done more to bring enjoyment and harmony than almost anyone on the planet, with the possible exception of Mother Teresa, who already did get it, so it's Van's turn. But until that oversight is addressed, at least there's this compilation which shows he's not only raised the bar for music but also significantly improved the movies.

A great Van Morrison album for someone who really loves Van Morrison and his legendary sound. It's in my CD player all the time.

Concept discs tend to go one of two ways--they dance around a theme, causing listeners to draw their own conclusions about how well the album hangs together, or they come on strong. Sax man Dave Koz's At the Movies floats mellifluously into the second category. From the moment Judy Garland's voice comes keening through the crackle of "Over the Rainbow," we're transported directly into the cinema alongside Koz and a handful of high-wattage friends. Only in Koz's theater, the music is at times more heart-tuggingly pretty than we remember. "Moon River," from Breakfast at Tiffany's meanders gracefully before Barry Manilow surfaces to lend a languid, signature-smooth vocal. "The Shadow of Your Smile" from The Sandpiper sends ripples of bittersweetness down the spine straight through the soul. In a surprising standout track, India.Arie snakes her vocal to Tootsie's "It Might Be You" around Koz's sax so winningly you half-wish she had sung the original. Koz himself is no slouch here, either: six instrumentals belong to him exclusively, some so lush it seems a shame do-overs aren't on Oscar's radar. --Tammy La Gorce

Classic Movie Music at Its Best..........2007-07-07

Dave Koz has a real winner with this album of revisited movie music.
A great collection songs and done so well with super talented vocal artists.
If you're a movie fan, you gotta have this one.

Hope he'll do another with more movie themes; are you reading this Dave??

Growth and Change with At the Movies.......2007-07-06

At the Movies is a way of Dave expressing himself along with stretching and growing as a person and a fabulous musician. Ever since he came out he's been happy to be accepted for himself and has become more creative and daring. I believe At the Movies is an example of an artist who isn't happy just with the same ole, same ole.

I can't say this album is my favorite and I find I hardly ever listen to it even though the songs are incredibly beautiful. Everything Dave ever does elicits a different mood or touches one's heart or soul.

I would have to say my favorite songs would be The Pink Panther, Somewhere with Anita Baker singing as only she can, and Johnny Mathis sings The Shadow of Your Smile so that you think you're actually there with him. Eventually I'm sure I'll find others I like as well except for Over the Rainbow. I truly hate that song, but Dave plays it so well I can listen to it. I think the lead ins from the old songs add to the authenticity of the songs.

Hopefully next time Dave will give us smooth jazz people another jazzy album. I'm guessing he'll most likely surprise us again!

Dave Koz at The Movies is an enjoyable C.D. to listen to if you are a jazz fan as I have been since the late 1950s. Now that my favorite sax player, Gerry Mulligan, has passed on to that "jazz club in the sky" I have elected Dave Koz as his replacement. His sounds are clear, and he blows a sax with what seems no effort at all based on having seen him on T.V. when the artists on this C.D. performed. I would recommend this with a "High-5."

This is a wonderful CD that causes me to reflect on some pretty good memories. I love Dave Koz and this is Dave at his creative best.

Making Movies is Dire Straits's third album and includes several epic numbers that remain among Mark Knopfler's finest work. "Tunnel of Love, " "Romeo And Juliet" (covered by the Indigo Girls), and "Solid Rock" all work with the same distinctive galloping rhythm underneath Knopfler's country-blues staccato guitar. The addition of Springsteen's E Street Band pianist Roy Bittan hardly seems less a coincidence considering the Springsteen-esque tone of the material. --Rob O'Connor

Another all-time classic.......2007-06-08

This is another all-time classic, another all-time favorite of mine, still as fascinating as it was 25 years ago when I first heard it. Make sure you get the remastered edition, though, it sounds much better than the non-remastered one. Extremely sensitive love-inspired tracks.

The foundation of the classic Dire Straits sound.......2007-05-10

In the late 1970s, Dire Straits was a band that built a strong following. Much of Dire Straits was the result of the awesome guitar work of Mark Knopfler, but there was also some great instrumentation from other band members such as drummer Pick Withers and bassist John Illsley.. In many circles, Knopfler is considered as good as they come. For Dire Straits, they would do things much differently than many of the other bands during the time of the "British Invasion". In an era where Punk and New Wave were taking center stage, Dire Straits were doing things the old-fashioned way - a combination of Classic Rock, Blues, Folk, and even some Country. Knopfler also proven himself to be a top-notch lyricist - writing both humorous and serious songs. The combination of outstanding instrumentation, great lyrics and a mix of old-fashioned Rock genres is really what made Dire Straits such a great band. . The achieved success with their debut album - the self-titled Dire Straits. Although, their follow-up album "Communiqué" followed up, many consider that album not as strong as "Dire Straits". For the band's third album, "Making Movies", some changes would take place - and as a result it would become what many consider to be one of the strongest albums in the Dire Straits portfolio.

On the first two albums, many feel that Dire Straits had a more stripped down basic classic Rock sound. For "Making Movies", things changed. It would be on this album where we would see Dire Straits move toward more-complex arrangements. This trend would actually continue on the album that would follow "Making Movies" - 1982's "Love Over Gold". "Making Movies" would make a major personnel change in that Mark Knopfler's brother, David would depart the band. At the same time, the band would bring in the E Street Band's Roy Bittan to play keyboards. Bittan has one of the most distinctive keyboard sounds in the music business and it often is easy to identify his work. It is Bittan's unique style combined with the outstanding guitar work and music arrangements of the band that helped "Making Movies"s easily emerge as the band's signature sound to date.

There are seven tracks that make up the "Making Movies" album. Here is a track by track review:

"Tunnel of Love": This is the opening track of the collection and has easily become one of the band's classic tracks. The song opens with an arrangement of a melody from Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel". As the song progresses into the "Rock portion", you will first hear Bittan's trademark keyboards followed by Mark Knopfler's trademark guitar. This song presents a great narrative as Knopfler reminisces about his younger days at an amusement park. Overall, this song just seems to capture the signature style that Dire Straits has really garnered a reputation for. I saw one review say that this song this song is "everything that was great about these guys condensed in 8 minutes" - I couldn't agree more.

"Romeo and Juliet": As the title says, this is basically a song about Romeo and Juliet. Here we get Knopfler's unique take and spin on this classic William Shakespeare work. Knopfler displays humor when he says, "Juliet says 'hey it's Romeo you nearly gave me a heart attack'". At the same time Knopfler gives his perspective on the whole story when he says (from Romeo's point of view), "Juliet the dice were loaded from the start". More great instrumentation - especially from Bittan and Knopfler help complete the picture of this story.

"Skateaway": This is a sometimes overlooked song, but nonetheless still a Dire Straits classic. This song might seem simple, yet it demonstrates some of the terrific arrangements by the band. The song paints a picture of a girl at a roller skating rink. Yet the part that really is interesting is how Knopfler tells the story of the girl listening to music on a portable music player (probably a Walkman). The lyrics "she gets rock n roll a rock n roll station; and a rock n roll dream; she's making movies on location" tell the story perfectly. Listen to how Knopfler creates a sound that gives you a feel of the roller rink. At the same time, listen to how the music "changes up" throughout the song. Bittan's keyboards shine as well - you will definitely pick out his classic sound.

"Expresso Love": This is another classic Dire Straits song. It also starts out with some great keyboards by Bittan and like "Tunnel of Love", this progresses into a classic Dire Straits song. Knopfler's guitar chords will have you jamming them over and over again.

"Hand in Hand": This song takes a softer sound when compared to most of the other tracks on this collection. In some ways this reminded me a bit of Dan Fogelberg. In this song, there is a slight country-like sound - and this is something that would become an influence on Knopfler's influence later in his musical career.

"Solid Rock": This is the shortest track on the album, but that doesn't impact anything. This song has a Southern-Rock feel and in some ways, Knopfler's vocals reminded me of Tom Petty. Knopfler's guitar will be the primary star of this song. In this song Knopfler sings about living a safe and conservative kind of life as he sings "Well i'm sick of potential; I'm sick of vanity now". This is another terrific song.

"Les Boys": This song was a most unorthodox song. It basically pokes fun at the female impersonators in the cabaret. The lyrics "Les boys got leather straps....get dressed up get a little risque" tell the whole story. This song does a great job at creating that cabaret feel to it.

The liner notes include all of the lyrics. Overall, this song exemplifies the classic Dire Straits sound. If one has any interest in Dire Straits at all, this would be the album I recommend getting.

Making Movies.......2007-05-07

This is probably one of the fifty best albums I had heard when it first came out. This remaster of that album is fantastic. I have both the original and the remaster and I now only play the remaster. Highly recommended for Dire Straits fans or anybody else with an ear for good music.

a simpler time..........2007-04-28

1980 I was in Denver, CO before MTV. There was a half-hour program on late at night called FMTV. Videos!!! The regular rotation included; Start Me Up - Stones, Controversy - Prince, Whip it - Devo and a couple pieces by a group I wasn't that familiar with...Romeo and Juliet and Tunnel of Love - Dire Straits. They had me hook, line...you know. To this day, along with Sultans of Swing and Brothers in Arms, I'm convinced that Mark Knofler is a rare bird, a true trubador. He tells stories so damn well(not to mention he strokes axe mighty nice)that I never tire of his expressions.

T of L reminds me of a girl I met when I was 18 at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO by the name of JoSylvia Malone. We rode the 'Zambini Zinger' roller coaster together one time, I never saw her again, but this song describes that type of youthful passion perfectly...

Great running music.......2007-07-05

I purchased this CD to download onto an MP3 player so I can listen to it while I run. I haven't been able to get it away from my kids long enough to use it yet. Great music from great Rocky movies! We all love it.

Really Under Rated.......2007-07-03

Rocky has one of the most under rated soundtracks in history. It's just as good as SAturday Night Fever, but unlike that, doesn't get caught up in its own pretentiousness. Eye of the Tiger gets things going, an awesdome 80s track that is much more straight heavy metal. Then the next several tracks are also by Survivor, as this makdes up about half the whole disc, taken from Rocky 4. Hearts on Fire remains very under rated, Living in America only gets bett each time, The Burning Heart remains emotional. The rest of the album is really hit or miss. War I even under rate, only because it pales in comparison to even Hearts on Fire. The real show stopper here though is Gonna Fly Now, taken from the first Rocky flick, a timeless masterpiece that is a mix of classical, high school band geek and disco with some heavy metal solo thrown in for good measure. A classic album I love that some people just don't care for.

I you wish have the rocky movies soudtracks, get the last one (from Roky Balboa) This just has 10 songs and the new one has the almost the best, but if you get this and the new you will have all better song ( still mising mesurement of men from rocky V)

Rocky IV Music with Some Imitation Bill Conti Music.......2007-01-07

While this "Anthology" of Rocky movie music is mostly satisfying, it falls short of capturing the real heart and soul of what makes Rocky movie music so compelling and distinctive. Presented here are the best vocal tracks from Rocky III and IV, which are worthy additions to any music collection. Also included are two Bill Conti imitation tracks of "Gonna Fly Now", both I might add, clearly inferior to the original.

I bought this album thinking I could get the best of the Rocky music without having to buy all the originals. What I found is that the originals are what makes makes Rocky movie music so distinctive. Rather than purchase this album, I'd buy the original Rocky IV and the original Rocky soundtrack; there is more music, and it is all "real" Rocky music. Another option is to purchase the latest Rocky Anthology, "Rocky Balboa".

It Stirs You to Never Give Up, No Matter What Age........2007-01-05

My first encounter with Rocky was the new movie, Rocky Balboa, and the music was marvelous. It kept one's interest in what was happening on the screen. The theme from his other movies was used during the computer fight which led up to the actual fight in Las Vegas.

Now, I understand why Michael Pare talked like Rocky in 'The Philadelphia Experiment,' as they were both supposed to be from Philadelphia. That was one of my favorite movies, and this new one about Rocky will be another one.

Andre Rieu brings a warmth and pop-like aire to his music.Here he plays popular music with a classical orchestra and adds his special ingredients to it ie:humor (musical jokes for the serious listener),fun,light-heartedness.It's a band of very talented musicians having alot of fun as is evident in the playing and especially if you've seen them in concert.I can "hear" the smiles on their not serious faces by their style of playing...less staccato and with more feeling.Andre and company swing and dance through every track climaxing on Ravel's Bolero from the movie "10".

A Fun Collection.......2007-06-20

Well, I can't say that this collection holds any hidden secrets because it does not. In fact, if you are a die-hard Elvis fan, you probably carry much of the content of this set with you in the car. (Especially on disc one.) I think most of the "fun" tracks are on disc two.

My favorites are "Little Egypt," "Clambake", "Shake That Tambourine," and most notibly, "Long Legged Girl With The Short Dress On." Don't get me wrong, I like many of the songs. What is nice about this collection is that you get a neat variety packaged in one easy to carry set.

I will have to agree with the person who was complaining about the so-called REMASTERING. Case in point; "Long Legged Girl" is one of my favorite Elvis songs of all time. So much so that I recorded my own version in my home studio. I based my recording on an original copy of the 45 record. That version is SMOKIN' HOT! In the beginning of the song, the electric guitar jumps out of the speakers and smacks you right in the face! In this collection "Long Legged Girl" sounds very "tepid" to say the least. The guitars are held back, you can barely hear the horn section, and the dynamic levels are the same through the entire song.

I was very inclined to rate this as a three star collection rather than a four. I changed my mind at the last second basically because of the variety of tracks included in the set.

Retreads...are retreads.......2007-06-16

This is a nice, fun collection for new fans, or for those who did not buy any number of similiar sets. There's nothing for the historian, and in fact, there were several spots where something special could have been delivered: like the first appearance of the movie version of Tickle Me's "I Feel That I've Known You Forever" the movie versions of Kissin' Cousins' "Catchin' On Fast"; of ...World's Fair's "Happy Endings"; of Speedway's "Your Time Hasn't Come Back, Baby".
Perhaps some more imagination could also have been applied to "Do The Clam", a high energy tune featuring Boots Randolph. The pressing with the curious drop-out in sound is used, but that's one thing: this track should been pressed in mono, with the background voices muted and the syncopated hand-claps O-U-T. Similarly, "Long Legged Girl..." is the original album version, with the rhythm section in the left-field grandstand. Terrible.
Presumptive mistakes: the alternate take of the themesong from "Follow That Dream", as great as it is, and the original of "King of The Whole Wide World" without the long sax solo ending. Add the version of "I'm Yours" *not* used in Tickle Me - the 1962 album track with the narration.
The title song from "Clambake" is here in all it's ignoble glory, more rockin' that one might recall, but still an embarrassment. That movie actually had some entertaining tunes - they shoulda used "The Girl I Never Loved" or "A House That Has Everything".
The best sound here is from the '50s, particularly "Hard Headed Woman": all the instruments have great presence, especially that of Mr. Scotty Moore. Those who have determined he's really just an inspired *stylist* should check this one out - among others here: "Frankfurt Special" has alot of Sun Records ambience thanks to him, and "Rock-A Hula Baby" is handled perfectly. A light and bright, but insistent complement to a fun soundtrack tune.

His BEST collection of movie songs!.......2007-06-12

I have stopped trying to make sense out of BMG's marketing strategy for Elvis' impressive catalog of music, otherwise I would be driving myself crazy wondering why they released this 2 CD set of Elvis movie songs less than a year after releasing a single CD of Elvis movie songs with many of the same songs!?! Not being a record company executive, I guess I will never understand the logic behind that.

Regardless, this is an excellent collection of Elvis movie songs and is probably the best one currently available. It contains many songs that were hits; in fact it includes far more hits than most other artists' greatest hits collections! It includes three songs that went all the way to number 1 on the Billboard singles chart (Love Me Tender, Jailhouse Rock, and Hard Headed Woman), two other songs that just missed hitting the top spot peaking at number 2 (Can't Help Falling in Love and Return to Sender) and the top 10 single Bossa Nova Baby. 16 other songs made the Top 40 and 6 more made the Top 100 chart. It only includes a few songs that probably made Elvis wince when he recorded them (while the songs Elvis was given for his movie soundtracks were not always the best, his performances were).

The first CD is the strongest, but the second CD has some highlights. It includes Elvis' underappreciated country-rock classic Clean Up Your Own Back Yard plus the original versions of Little Less Conversation and Rubberneckin', which were remixed and became hits a few years ago. All-in-all this is a very strong collection and highly recommended if you do not already own most of these songs on one of the numerous other collections of Elvis movie songs.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've heard (and read) all the criticisms of Elvis' management and the Camden albums before. I'm not saying that some of it isn't justified, but c'mon, it's been 35 years or more since the Camden albums were released. Get over it!! Just sit back and enjoy the music.
If you still remember how. All the other "stuff" doesn't matter now.

Great title hit!.......2007-06-20

Burning Love was one of Elvis' best recordings period. Unfortunately Elvis' management never figured out how to package and market his albums. Instead of releasing a new album featuring his big hit single, they opted for the quick and easy buck by packaging the hit with a bunch of older, so-so songs from his movies.

In order to be able to release several albums a year, Elvis' management had started packaging his new singles with some of his old songs that had not been released on an album. While it may have been a way to make a fast buck, Elvis' new material deserved better and should have been packaged with other new songs and treated as a major release, rather than a budget release. While the song Burning Love went all the way to number 2 on the Billboard singles chart and number 1 on the rival Cashbox chart, the album only managed to climb to 22 on the album chart. Elvis had enough new material at the time to put out a high-quality new album that probably would have done much better on the chart. As it was, they pretty much wasted his biggest hit of the 1970s by putting it on an album with a bunch of dated material.

This is a wonderful score. Distinctive, passionate, corny in all the right ways, and downright moving. If you have ever seen the film, or want to buy some really motivating music, Rocky is the way to go. You can just picture the sweat, the blood, the tears... you get the picture.

Overal I highly reccomend this as a significant benefit to anyones CD collection.

The movie "Rocky" was released in 1976. It was a major hit, and won the Academy Award for Best Movie. One of the major reasons for for the success of Rocky, is the brilliant musical score by Bill Conti. Conti was nominated for best Musical Score, and Best Song (Gonna Fly Now).

When people think of "Rocky", they think of Sylvester Stallone and the trumpets introducing the classic hit, "Gonna Fly Now". The music brings soul and heart to the movie. Without the music, Rocky is still a good picture, but with the music, Rocky is a great movie! The music of Bill Conti energizes this movie and brands it with a unique persona and character. In a word - Billiant!

There is not a weak track on the entire album. "Gonna Fly Now" became a #1 top-40 hit in 1976, and has inspired countless millions with its upbeat thrilling souhd. But it does not end there. "Going the Distance" is another solid composition that grabs your soul with its gritty determination and tension. "First Date" and "You Take My Heart Away" show the tender side of the Rocky soundtrack, being the love themes of the Rocky movie.

In the top-20 of all-time musical scores, this has to rank solidly in this group. It is music that stands the test of time. I still listen to the album 30 years after its release, and find great enjoyment in it. I treasure it, and it occupies a special place in my music collection.

Buy it to inspire you, buy it as music to exercise to, buy it to remember the movie - just buy it. You will love this album, guaranteed.

Rocky - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - is a fantastic musical adventure with all the music of the film included on this stunning cd!

1. Gonna Fly Now - A reason to buy the soundtrack starts with this heartbeating music. The well known theme of all the Rocky movies, simply fantastic music. Includes singing which power it up even more. After this song, you're sold. Length: (2:48)

2.Philadelphia Morning - After agreeing with Mick to manage Rocky, Rocky trains for the first time and gets up at 4 o'clock in the morning. The training goes harder than he expected, and that is heard in the music. The music really descripes a dark cold winter morning in Phiadelphia, which is absolutely fantastic. You can truely feel how Rocky felt in that moment through the music. He felt like: My mind wants to, but my body can't. Length: (2:21)

3. Going the Distance - The true opposite of track 2. Rocky is now full of life and spirit, ready to do it, to go that distace (15 complete rounds in the boxing ring with the heavywait champion of the world)The music on this track is also used during the Battlescenes in the movie. Rocky gets hit and falls down to the floor, struggling to get up again, while Adrian, his true love, walks in and sees him get up and keep going! Length: (2:39)

4. Reflections - Rocky comes into his appartment after a fight. Looking in the mirror and at an old photograph of himself he feels regret. Again, the music goes deep into Rocky's mind, feeling that frustration of a struggling mind. This track which also appears in "Rocky II", is not on the Rocky II soundtrack, but it is on this one. So if you are looking for that track music, it is right here. Length: (3:18)

5. Marines' Hymn/Yankee Doodle - Rocky is waiting in the ring for the champion to show himself. And there he comes, Apollo Creed, dressed as President George Washington. The crowd goes wild and the commentators have the time of their life explaing to listeners and viewers what is there to see.
The music really gives that feeling. Length: (1:44)

6. Take it Back (Street Corner Song from "Rocky") - The song which is sung by Sylvester Stallone's brother Frank Stallone, who is a streetcornor singer in the movie. A simple but fantastic song which captures the positive feeling on the streets of Philadelphia. Length: (1:47)

7. First Date - This is basically the Love theme from the Rocky movies. The music really captures the love and heart of the Rocky movies, the emotion. Truely fantastic music that captures your heart and shows Rocky's love for Adrain. And her's for him.

8. You take my Heart away - Another song, which is played on the radio when Adrian and Rocky kiss for the first time in his appartment. A true seventies song sung by DeEtta Little and Nelson Pigford. A powerfull love song. Length: (4:44)

9. Fanfare for Rocky - Contains the music which is played at the very start of the movie, when the title "Rocky" floats over the screen from right to left. After that piece, the music goes over to a bit of a mix of different themes in the Rocky music. You can here a bit of "Going the Distance" in it. After that you hear music which isn't heard in the movie. Trumpets making a kind of dual. Fantastic to listen to. Length: (2:33)

10. Butkus - Rocky's dog is in the picture. Adrain has surprised Rocky with the beloved dog. Now Rocky has, like Adrain says in the movie: "Somebody to keep you compangy when you run." The spirits of Rocky are now high up by the compangy of Butkus and he feels great. You can hear that in the music. And you feel the happiness of the dog too. Only about twenty seconds of this music is used in the film. Length: (2:10)

11. Alone in the Ring - Rocky is not so sure anymore if he can go that distance and the night before the fight he goes to the empty stadium. Affraid he might lose and becomes the bum he was before it all again. The music shows Rocky's doubts.

12. The final Bell - Music that starts softly (In the movie it's heard when Rocky leaves Adrian in the dressingroom, saying: "Don't leave town") After that, the music explodes: Rocky has gone the distance. Now, reporters are crowding him, people are yelling, screaming. Rocky yells for his girlfriend Adrain, who is struggling to get up to the ring.
Then they meet and "I love you" is said to each other and the music is buidling up to this absolute maximum. Length: (1:54)

13. Rocky's Reward - This music is heard at the end credits of the movie. Rocky's Reward is sweeping, beautiful music that shows the feeling of sadisfaction and love. Fantastic music. And gives a bit of "Going the distance" only with higher notes.

This is a very good album that doesn't force fit each song into a "mob" theme. Almost all the songs are timeless ... plus, Dominick the Donkey is on this record so anyone who has spent a Christmas season in or around NYC should appreciate having the opportunity to sing "ching-iddy, ching, hee-haw, hee-haw" all year long.

I got this CD as a gift for my father. He loves all kinds of mobster movies and especially "The Godfather" movies. He loved it! Even if you haven't seen any mobster movies it still has some good italian classic songs that you could enjoy.

I was truly disappointed in this purchase. Not only is the quality bad, but I didn't really care for some of the selections. The song did not feel like they flowed together at all. But I do need to say, that MobHits 1 was great and I highly recommend that purchase!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. A must for both casual and die-hard Western fans. Great even if your sense of nostalgia doesn't reach that far back (like me; I'm 22). I love the combination of slow ballads and fast, jumpy songs.

Boy, do these bring back memories of some of the Great Westerns of the 50's. We sit and listen to the songs and think of the movies and the TV shows that they are from. We can remember who starred in the movies and how the "Sons of the Pioneers" entered the stage to sing.
This is a GREAT CD.

For anyone old enough to remember all the great Old West TV shows and movies from the same era, this CD is bound to bring you lots of fond memories and relaxing pleasure. What's best, the artists are all the originals; there are no remakes. Plenty of tunes are on this CD. It's well worth the price and the time.

This album takes me back to Texas. "The Sons Of Katie Elder" sung by Johnny Cash and "Nevada Smith" sung by Merle Kilgore sound good but are a bit modern. "The Searchers" sung by the Sons Of The Pioneers really hits home. As the sun sets and the days grow short I ride away and I look toward home.
