About the Artist
Neal Arbic began practicing and studying Yoga over 20 years ago. Since 1990, he has been a full time Yoga instructor. He has taught thousands of people, including children, seniors, people with disabilities, and the blind. He has been offered positions with corporations such as Husky, Orenda Aerospace and Ford.

He lives and teaches in Ontario, Canada.

Great Album - but many repeats........2003-04-24

Another enjoyable album by Suzanne Ciani. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see many of the same songs that appear on so many of her albums. Some of these songs are in several albums I own already. It would be a great album for new Ciani fans. For old fans save your money.

"Meditations" is a beautiful collection of fourteen of Suzanne Ciani's most peaceful and relaxing works, spanning her 20-year career and taken from ten of her masters. It is not intended as a "best of" collection in the usual sense, and is more of a thematic collection. The album is seamless, and the pieces work wonderfully together, creating a restful and soothing state in which to let the mind wander and perhaps drift off to sleep. Selections go as far back as "Seven Waves," Ciani's first major release (1982 in Japan, 1984 in the US) up through "Pianissimo III" in 2001. Ciani's early work was as a pioneer in the electronic music field, and "The Third Wave," "The Velocity of Love," "Lay Down Beside Me," "L'Azzurro," and "Lumiere" are from that era - it's so good to hear these pieces again! "Inverness" and "Go Gently" are also older pieces, but Ciani used the beautiful versions from her "Live" album with the Wave, updating them a bit. Most of the other pieces are from her solo piano "Pianissimo" albums and the combination of electronic and acoustic selections is fascinating. Suzanne Ciani has been one of my favorite artist/composers for many years, and this is an outstanding collection even if you have all of her earlier releases. Very highly recommended!

This is an incredibly relaxing album. The tracks are very soothing and make my drive to work a space for contemplation rather than anticipation.

if you like repetition, this CD's for you!.......2003-12-03

I found this CD irritatingly repetitive. I was very disappointed in it. (Sorry, Tenzin) I am a body therapist and listen to calming music while I do treatments on clients. This solo piano and solo guitar CD irritated and distracted me. If you want calming piano music I suggest instead, A Place Without Noise by Wayne Gratz. If you are looking for calming guitar music I suggest Guitar Meditations by Soulfood and Billy McLaughlin.

Waste of money.......2004-01-31

I could have recorded my own voice and had my 4 year old play the organ and made a better CD. The woman narrator did not have a low soothing voice, the substance of the spoken visualization was a hokey rendition of "Relax your body . . . go to sleep". This was amateurish and a BIG RIP OFF! I can't even bring myself to sell it to someone else for the embarrassment of it's content.

Well, if you must........2003-04-13

I tried a meditation cd years ago called something like meditation: a survival guide for the 90's. It was strictly guided, with only ambient background music. It was a great cd but I figured now, 5 years later, I needed a replacement and thought that this would be my ticket.

The good: The music is on par. The fact that the second track is only the music makes this cd half worth your while, and it lasts long enough to fall asleep to. My only complaint about it is that it has intermittant musical sounds. The kind that once you get into the flow of the music, seem to jump out at you. It is not a flowing peacefull music but it does give you something to think about besides your hectic day.

The bad: The first track is the "guided meditation". I think the intentions for this were really good, but failed in the areas of voice, repetition, and flow. A good meditation cd should not start off telling you the best ways to prep for sleep. Such as, your feet should be elevated and you should have cleen sheets. I don't need to hear things like this at the end of the day. It is relatively usefull advice, but it should have been an intro track at least. The woman's voice sounds like a 45 year old woman trying to sound youthfull in a raspy sort of whisper. You might find this relaxing but I found it hard to concentrate on what she was saying because of it. Finally, repetition and flow. Repeating the words up, up, up, to your cloud is alright, telling me almost everything to think about in a word trio ... Flow is my last complaint. After you get to your cloud then you are told to focus on your day, then back to your cloud and back to your bed from where you started. This was not an isolated incident.

I hope this clarifies. I recommend the cd I started with. He had a better conception of the "ideal meditation".
