Buyer Beware!.......2007-05-23

Because of other "Moods" CD's, I bought this without listening to the tracks first. As soon as I heard the first track on the first CD, I knew I was in for an unpleasant surprise...and I wasn't wrong. There wasn't one song that didn't grate on my nerves. I am certainly sorry that I didn't pay more attention before buying.

music is relaxing. I actually bought this as a retirement gift because the person had listened to my own set and really enjoyed it. Worth sharing. Makes a nice gift when you want to escape from daily stress.
Turn off the cell phone, disconnet the blue tooth, don't answer the door, light a candle, pour a glass of wine and shut out the world.

This is indeed one of the prestigious new age song i ever heard. Any one who is interested in new age should buy this product,who ever bought it,won't regret.

I saw this in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart and thought, hey, six discs for ten bucks-- surely there's bound to be something I like in there. I'm also probably the most easy to please when it comes to new age music, but this...?

It starts with Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire", a peice that hasn't aged well, is over-used, and sounds trite in most instances. Then comes an utterly forgettable cover of Enya's "Orinoco Flow" which is so alike the original one wonders why listen to it at all if you have original, and so poorly done it's an insult to Enya, like so many other 'tribute' covers of her work (Neoera, I'm looking at you).

What follows is six discs of something that is trying way too hard to be new age music. It sounds composed by someone who thinks they're Yanni a third of the time, Christopher Frank another third, and Kitaro the rest, and succeeding at being none of them. Synth drum loops, synth strings, synth everything, and the ubiqiutous and over-abused synth flutes. And even if you can get past the OMG SYNTH EVERYWHERE feeling, some of the music is just plain jarring and clumsy.

Don't get me wrong, there were a few tracks I did like, but those tracks put together wouldn't have filled one disc. The [blank] Moods franchise simply needs to stop putting out junk.

"Tranquil Moods" was an excellent choice. I was happy to discover all three (3) CD's were included with this set. I received it in excellent condition, and I am enjoying listening to the music at such a great deal!

Excellent relaxing music; same as Heartsongs.......2005-01-28

I love this CD! Drift Away contains exactly the same track list as Heartsongs, except with a different cover (I could do without the woman bathing on the cover). Heartsongs is one of my favorite CDs of all time. Hockensmith was the former guitarist of Neil Diamond and he has also recorded with Christian artists such as Twila Paris. The guitar playing is great and the songs are beautiful, melodic and relaxing. My favorite tracks are "Devotion," "Dreamy," and "Lullaby." The style is reminiscent of smooth jazz. It is perfect for relaxing, for meditation, and for romantic evenings. Highly recommended. If you can't find Heartsongs on CD, this is exactly the same disk, just a different cover and album title.
