About the Artist
Sol Luna y las Estrellas is the pseudonymous name of a group of talented musicians who seek to have environmental sounds be a setting for their music, and to have their music be a setting for environmental sounds.

They seek to have the effect of their music be something on the order of a "concert amongst nature," and they hope that their music will provide some of the same healing effect that being out in nature can provide.

"Imagining the Waves" is the first CD in a 4-CD cycle by Sol Luna y las Estrellas. It is music composed specifically to accompany the sounds of ocean waves, and to be accompanied by the sounds of ocean waves. In Sol's music, the environmental sounds actually become another instrument in the ensemble.

Although the CD release is classed in both the New Age and Jazz categories, Sol himself prefers the term "Enviro-Jazz" to describe the music.

The subsequent CD's in the cycle will include: "Imagining the Storm," "Imagining the Rainforest," and "Imagining the Woodlands."

I don't quite know how to categorize the music on this CD. It's certainly not the usual New-Age tripe. There is a real sense of passion and musicianship here, and the guitar work is really, really first class.

At the same time, for me at least, it really does do what most of this stuff merely claims to do. I put it on on Saturday or Sunday mornings early, while I sit in my favorite big chair and read, and it's like a massage!

Highly recommended!
