Alma Pulido is truly a terrific singer, with a beautiful, high-energy voice as well as music! The great thing with Alma is, you're not just listening to a pretty voice with weird music you can't really enjoy- all of Alma's songs are catchy and infectious- with bright upbeat melodies and memorable themes- alot of them deal with being in love and how painful it is when u have an unfaithful lover. Of course, even if you don't understand spanish fluently (which i don't), you can still enjoy her music and voice, whatever language you speak. To me, music is a universal language enough that lyrics would not be strong enough to create a barrier- if it's something beautiful, you'll listen to it! And this album is beautiful..so buy it! The BEST songs on here were: "Quien Crees Que Soy" (the best! )- listen to song number 1! then my other favorite was "Enamorada De Ti"- that song is sooooo catchy! Quien Crees and Enamorada were really 2 great songs with equally catchy melodies, although i think Quien Crees Que Soy was slightly better- that's just my personal opinion. i just play that song NON-stop, day and night! Also check out "Dime Que Me Quieres"- a really cute, sweet, catchy dance song. This is more of a tejano number. All the other songs on here were good, but not as memorable as the first three. 1) Quien Crees Que Soy, 2) Dime Que Me Quieres, and 3) Enamorada De Ti are TRULY special. number 7, "No Vaya A Volver Jamas" was also sweetly sung and a great chorus. "Cien Volando" was a very fast-paced, non-tejano song, the style may have been closer to a pop type song, but not even. Think style similar to Selena's "La Bamba"- there you go. It was really fast! A great dance song! Alma Pulido is truly a promising new artist, and i only hope to hear more of her! I loved her so much that i bought her second album- check it out!

Fun, Catchy Tejana Pop Songs + A Beautiful Voice!.......2000-08-03

Here is, finally, a dream-combination of both wonderful song + voice. I always refer to my two favorite mexican pop divas, Graciela and Selena when comparing, because i feel it is a must. Alma Pulido blew me out of the water with her strong, beautiful vocals and fun, infectious music. She has the brilliant music of Selena combined with Graciela-like bright soprano vocals, and a tear-drop-of-honey to top it all. This is her second album after her self-titled debut, Alma Pulido in 1997. That album too, was fabulous, i'd say her best, with my 3 favorite songs to date, Quien Crees Que Soy, Enamorada De Ti, and Dime Que Me Quieres. From this album, my favorites were Locamente Enamorada, Desnudame El Alma, Enamorada, Nadie Me Habia Hecho Llorar, A Quien Merezca Mi Amor, Andale Andale, Quien Te Hizo A Ti Dios, and Es Imposible. All were "dance-pop cutsie cumbias" except Es Imposible- that's a gorgeous ballad! it has major american pop influence which makes it pretty and also familiar! wow, this song was definitely a landmark for the album- her precious raspy and yearning vocals add a soulful flavor to the song while the brightness of her voice gives the song a drop of hope. I'd say mainstream right now- let's go. Its perfect and yet it has the gorgeous sound of spanish words to drape the song in decadence and delicacy. Quien Te Hizo A Ti Dios is actually a mariachi number! but it has a fast-paced beat to it with guitar. The other mariachi song, Amor Derecho was a more familiar, typical slow-sounding ballad, yet i didn't care for it- she sang a duet with a man whose voice i wasn't in love with. Dejala Por Mi is a sappy tejano ballad- though i'm not using sappy as an insult- i always love so-called "sappy" sad love songs. this is very typically tejano. however, it was its melody which i didn't like. so i'd say, excluding the final mariachi track and the slow tejano number, the rest of the songs on the album were my favorite! i really can't choose! i would really recommend this album because it is nice and light with a spicy, peppy flavor. Think sugary bubblegum pop songs with Mexican zest. A Dream Come True.

I REALY LIKE THE NEW ALBUM DESNUDAME EL ALMA BY ALMA POLIDO . IT BRINGS BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES OF THE TIMES ME AND MY BABY JOHNNY WHERE HAVING PROBLEMS KEEPING A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP GOING. I WAS BEGINING TO THINK WE WERE FALLING APART BUT THE THOUGHT OF THAT SCARED ME. I MEAN WE HAD BEEN THROUGH ALOT TOGETHER AND WE ALWAYS MANEGED TO OVERCOME ALL OUT PROBLEMS BUT NOW WE WERE REALY STARTING TO FALL APART. WELL ONE DAY AS I WAS PLAYING IN THE ENTERNET I CAME ACROSS ALMA POLIDO'S SONG DESNUDMAME EL ALMA I KNEW I HAD TO CALL HIM AND PLAY THAT SONG FOR HIM.
