This is contemporary religious Lukumi / Yoruba music at its best. The arrangements add tremendously to the traditional orikis that we are used to. The music is beautiful.

I got this collection almost ten years ago from my best friend, who is an omo-Ochosi, and so the music brings back a lot of memories, they awaken devotion to the Orisha and they remind me of friendship ties. I learned the oriki listening to Sintesis.

Wonderful album. Purists might cringe, but I love they way Sintesis took the yoruba melodies and added a contemporary accomponiment that doesn't detract from the music. Too bad that albums like this never bother to include the lyrics. Y tambien muestra mucho amor y respecto a los Orisha. No hay mejor alegria.

If you like the new sound coming from the island that created most of the famous styles that are heard all over the world and imitated by other Latin countries, check this CD out. It's a combination of our African Spanish Cuban roots! Carlos Placeres is a great musician that knows how to play the traditional Cuban music with some new sounds. Take it from me (A true Placeres myself) who knows good quality when he hears it!

Haunting ancient yoruban chants with a modern spin........2005-10-24

This is the real deal. These are the sacred chants for the Orishas and as Sintesis has delivered them in a fresh new way it is a truly moving experience. You'll want to listen to this album again and again, a true world music classic. Using analog synthesizers and combining traditional elements this album is a masterpiece.
