3 out of 5 stars not all the greatest hits.......2007-01-13

there were songs missing....great hits. greatest hits collections should have the greatest hits in them.

4 out of 5 stars Outstanding collect of songs in both english and spanish from beautiful Tex-Mex tejano singer, cut down in her young prime.......2006-09-28

...by a fanatical jehovah's wit-less former
Fan Club leader. Selena was well on her way
to replacing the (phony) 'MaDonna's and
Cheryl Crow(breaths) of the world of 'Pop
Muzak', when it happened. Shows what danger
lies in the Cults. Her grave in Texas is still
mobbed with well wishers and flowers, as it
should be. Hasta luego, Princess!

4 out of 5 stars The English Album-What the I'm Dreaming of You album should have been 10 years ago........2006-02-19

1. My Love-A good song though its slightly dated. It reflects the time in which it was recorded in.
2. I Could Fall In Love-A pretty song and a pretty huge hit in the late-mid-nineties.
3. Captive Heart-A sexy and fun song with a lot of passion.
4. I'm Getting Used To You-Is a pretty good song...until you get used to it. Then its just plain old good.
5. God's Child-I like the sentiment but just don't like the song so much.
6. Dreaming of You-This song was a huge hit and a fan favorite-but I'm so over it.
7. Missing My Baby-Another good song that is slightly dated. It totally has the early nineties vibe to it.
8. Wherever You Are-A song which was made so cool back in the day by the merging of the then hot band Barrio Boyz and a leaving her band behind Selena. The video for this song screams 90s!
9. Only Love-The best heartbreak ballad she ever recorded that still holds up. Its a good song to listen to while you're driving and crying over a lost love.
10. A Million To One-Her best upbeat tune that still holds up.
11. Where Did The Feeling Go?-A song that while is sung beautifully now has a slightly "cheesey" sound to it.
12. Is It The Beat?-Her best dance song-slightly dated but still so much fun to listen to, so upbeat and just all around uplifting!
13. A Boy Like That-Not my favorite song from the musical and a little too goth to be enjoyable. Kind of haunting.
14. Always Mine-SPANGLISH ALERT! A song that is definetly from "those" times!
15. Don't Throw My Love Away-An enjoyable remix of 'My Love'.
16. Disco Medley: I Will Survive/Funkytown/Last Dance/The Hustle/On The Radio-Studio recordings don't do her justice. Listen to her live to know why Selena's legacy and legend live on!

5 out of 5 stars Great Collection Of Selena Hits.......2006-02-03

I know that Selena fans will complain that her Cumbia hits are left off this collection, and being a hardcore Selena fan myself I would like to have seen "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom", "Amor Prohibido" "Si Una Vez" and "Como La Flor" as well as some live hits from The Last Concert of her peforming these hits, but there is only so many songs a studio can fit on to a single 80 minute Compact Disc. I personally would have included these tracks instead of "A Million To One", "Wherever You Are", "Captive Heart" or "God's Child".
However there are some very strong Selena hits presented here. I know they are ALL in English and none in spanish so the album does seem a little un-fair, but so many classic Selena songs are on here. Basically All of the songs she was planning to put on her English Debuet recorded with EMI records. You could think of this as the Finished "Dreaming Of You".
Her Two massive U.S. Radio Hits "I Could Fall In Love" and "Dreaming Of You" are included in this collection. They are her two best songs. The Radio Hits are certainlly not the only enjoyable songs on here. "My Love" is a Great R'n'B Pop song and really shows the Fly Girl side Selena opittimized so well.
This track even though short was extremely catchy, and could have been a single. "Missing My Baby" is another sparkling R'n'B tune that is kind of Lovey - Dovey and Cute. Good Song.
"I'm Getting Used To You" is another smooth track the album has to offer. Not as good as the previous two, but certainlly not a bad song.
The Flamenco Tinged "Always Mine" is a fun track that will no boubt get you up and dancing. It has some Spanish language pieces in it, and sounds great. Other song to get you up and dancing are the Club Like "Is It The Beat" which is one of the albums highlights. Two other good Selena ballads are showcased here. The rarely heard R'n'B ballad "Only Love" and early love song attempt "Where Did The Feeling Go" were previously unreleased on a Selena album, and make this compilation a real keeper. Selena's tribute to the "West Side Story" Soundtrack "A Boy Like That" which is a smooth Groove Ballad is also included here, so overall though this album Offers none of her Cumbia hits it has plenty of Tejano, and Mainstream Hits. I reccommend buying this over "Dreaming Of You" anyday, because this gives you a lot more for your money, and is definetly worth it. If You want some of Selena's Cumbia Rhythms I suggest purchasing "Selena - Live" or "Unforgettable - The Live Album" because Selena's Cumbia Songs are always heard best when she sings live, because the intensity and Rhythm is captured and these albums show Selena's true talent as a performer. This is one of Selena's best Compilations and has plenty to offer for any Selena fan. It is a Must Own.

5 out of 5 stars Selena.......2005-09-07

Released three months after her murder in 1995, Dreaming of You introduced the Tejano queen to the mainstream pop audience. Four new tunes recorded with producers Keith Thomas and Guy Roche envisioned Selena as a dance-pop diva similar to Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey, but with a Latin twist. Far more arresting are the two classic mariachi numbers and a bilingual duet with David Byrne recorded for the movie Don Juan DeMarco, in which Selena had a bit part. The contrast between her passionate invitation to "come dance with me" and Byrne's nerdy white-guy delivery indicated her wide-open creative potential. The rest of the album consists of remixes of Selena's Latin-pop hits, including a masterful version of "Techno Cumbia" that bring out the hip-hop and reggae flavors in the groove. The tragedy was that such a promising introduction also served as a sad farewell. --Rick Mitchell

I loved Selena the first time I heard her music.I feel that Selena is still alive but she isn't.I feel the same way about my sister,my mom,and my brother.I feel that they are still here.Me and my sister were very huge fans of selena even though I didn't know her until I was about [...].I will be her biggest fan forever.

5 out of 5 stars Selena Was On Her Way .......2006-03-30

Selena was in fact on her way to being a huge star in the English market.I Could Fall In Love and Dreaming Of You still remain 2 of my favorite songs of all time.Other highlights to the album include Missing My Baby,Captive Heart, and I'm Getting Used To You.....Also with album being released a few months after her death....She was the first latin artist to have an album debut #1 on the American charts and also selling over 4 million copies....Her dream had finally come true....I Could Fall In Love was the first single and it made the Top 10.....Make sure you pick up a copy of this album

5 out of 5 stars Selena - Always Remembered.......2005-12-15

I did not become a Selena fan untill I saw the movie with Jennifer Lopez in it. I heard the song "Dreaming Of You" and IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER MADE !!!
I won't say much but buy this album, or "Selena-Greatest Hits" or "Selena-The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack".
You will not be sorry. I also heard Jennifer Lopez sing "I Could Fall In Love" in her Puerto Rican concert and that song is also beautiful. There has never been songs like these before Selena, and nobody could or can do it better then Selena.
She truly was a beautiful and pure person, and listening to her beautiful songs will surely comfort you. She also does GREAT Cumbia Melodies. Anyone who picks up a Selena album will be glad they did, and I feel blessed I have been lucky enough to hear some of this late singers work. I know that once you hear these songs you will become a huge Selena fan, and Treasure her Music and carry it with you in your life ALWAYS. I know I certainly will.

The soundtrack to the biopic of late Texan star Selena is an even better homage to the singer than the film itself. Incorporating rare tracks, hits, and sizzling live cuts, the album brims with Selena's energy and charisma. Especially invigorating are "Disco Medley, Part II," recorded during Selena's triumphant 1995 concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the eight-minute live Cumbia Medley, which blends some of her biggest Spanish hits. "Where Did the Feeling Go?" is an early pop precursor to nuanced hits such as "I Could Fall in Love" and "Dreaming of You," which are also included. The album also features Selena's searing rendition of "A Boy Like That," originally featured on a West Side Story tribute album, and "Viviras Selena," a touching tribute featuring Tejano stars Jennifer Peña, Emilio, and Bobby Pulido. --Joey Guerra

I love my cd(dreaming of you) that I have gotten. I recieved it today and listened to the whole thing. But the thing is, is that i need help finding a song that she sung the last time she performed. It was on the movie and it is a spanish song. She sung it a the astrodome towards the end of the movie the last time you see her in the purple outfit. She's singing and then when the song is about to end, she pauses and says the same line over twice and points to the drums and the drummer plays and shes rocking her head back and fourth. IF anyone can help me please I need to know what song that is. OH and by the way I am talking about the movie with J.Lo in it so actually you see J.Lo doing the things that I just described.

By now, Selena's recordings are like familiar friends, dropping in once a year or so to show off a new outfit that feels familiar, only it's prettied up in some new way. Ones offers 19 of the late Tejano diva's biggest hits, including the bittersweet crossover ballads "I Could Fall in Love" and "Dreaming of You." Every song sparkles with Selena's irresistible personality and rich, full-throttle delivery, especially impressive considering she was in her late teens and early 20s when most of these songs were recorded. The new addition here is "Con Tanto Amor," a three-song medley of "Amor Prohibido," "Si Una Vez," and "Como La Flor," that achieves added poignancy as a ballad. Ones also comes packaged with a DVD featuring Selena's complete video collection, from the shoestring-budget "La Carcacha" to the elegant "No Me Queda Mas." --Joey Guerra

Having listened to several C/ds & DVDs of Selena this C/D & DVD captures the songs and stage actions that made this woman such a household name is such a short time. I only wish that she could have gone on as the world has perhaps missed the best of Selena as she was such a dinamic person is such a short time and won so many w=awards.
I don't think there was v=ever a fan club in Australia which is why very few know of this womans remarkable achievements

The CD and the DVD are both fantastic. I had not seen any of her videos before, and it is a great compilation of her work. I must say, it brought a lump to my throat to watch her and wonder what might have been if she had lived. She was truly a consumate performer, and this collection demonstrates that fact very well.
(One thing though, the DVD has a section that is supposed to have interviews and additional videos, but that is not working on the copy that I got.)

This third compilation of Selena's material is hyped by EMI officials as being a complete collection of her biggest hits. It is no exaggeration. All 16 tracks are hits, and the disc includes her biggest numbers, such as "Amor Prohibido," "Como la Flor," and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." The CD features her English-language hits as well: "I Could Fall in Love," "Dreaming of You," and "Missing My Baby." There's also "Disco Medley Pt. II (Last Dance/The Hustle/On the Radio)," recorded live at the Houston Rodeo. Selena and the band sound sharp and on the money. "On the Radio" impacts in particular, through its lyrics about love conducted in secret--a situation that applied to Selena and her guitarist Chris Perez before they were married in 1992. --Ramiro Burr

5 out of 5 stars JUST AWESOME.......2006-03-30

Been year and half since someone put down a comment, so I will. I remember when I came home one day in Germany and my mum telling see saw on Galavision that a mexican singer was murdered by a fan. I asked her the name but she couldn't remember. I didn't think of it anymore until the day I went to the video store and saw a cover with Jennifer Lopez and the name Selena written on it. Immediatly I knew that that was the singer my mum told me about couple of years before. Took the film home and to be honest I didn't know what to expect. I just fell in love with Selena's music and with Selena as well, she seemed to be a great person to be around with. This was my first Selena CD and I don't regret of ever buying it cause it's just great. "No me queda mas" is my favourite. I must say I really don't like to hear Selena singing in english, don't get me wrong the songs are good, it's just that when I hear her singing in spanish, her voice comes out so strong and passionate, it's just beautiful. So everyone who wants to get to know Selena, this cd is the best! Get this one first and then the others... or just get them all at the same time, you won't regret it!! Selena, you're always in our hearts...

5 out of 5 stars well this is really great!.......2004-09-01

Well I have to say this is probably her best album to get if you want both spanish and inglish hits this one just about has them all the popullar ones that is. I must say I was veary dissapointed in her other album titled her greatest hits only because it has all her inglish hits on one cd and I mean all of them. They don't skip one and you see thats what I thought wasent right her spanish stuff was really good to, infact her spanish songs like the ones on this cd those are her real hits the inglish wasent till later I just think they should have mabe thought about her spanish hits as well, and made a cd with all of them on it like the songs (Besitos and Tengo Ganas De Llorar). those are not even all the ones I wanted theres more then that but I have to say this cd has most of them but I still think they should make a greatest hits of all her spanish to. I mean it's like I said that is the real selena thats what she is known for is her spanish hits! Thats what really got her where she would have still been right now. I like you alot selena I miss you and I just whant poeple to remember that you have spanish songs that are really good to, not just your inglish. So get this cd it is the best deal you will be able to find cause other wise all her hits are scattered around on many of her other cds, and why hastle buying all of them when you can buy this one. It is a great cd and as for her greatest hits well....! shame! I "pitty" that one lets put it this way I only give it a 1 mabe to 3 star other then that no comment!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!!.......2004-01-04

I saw the film Selena for the first time this past November and immediately fell in love with her. I went out and bought this CD and i must say it's great. Before i bought this cd the only Selena song i knew of was Dreaming of You and now i know them all. I really can't fault any song on this album and in my opinion her Spanish songs are the best(even though i can't understand all the words). Como La Flor, Amor Prohibido, No Debes Jugar and Bidi Bidi Bom Bom are my fav!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!.......2003-07-02

The reason why I love this album is because of the live track and for the first time we can hear the opening song to the live last concert because on the soundtrack the broke the song up into two parts. I didn't like that so when I found out that the whole song was on this album I was so happy. The other songs on here are good but I love it because of the live track.

Released in March 1994 exactly a year before Selena would be shot and killed by her ex-fan club president, this CD demonstrates a band at the peak of its creative force. The hits were obvious--the eloquent "Amor Prohibido," on love conducted in secret, and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," a magical pop tune that could work in any dance club. "Cobarde" and "El Chico" were easy cumbias to like; "Fotos y Recuerdos" was an ironic message on having only photographs and memories left. But highly underrated was the lovely and stoic "No Me Queda Mas," on facing the end, yet keeping a sense of dignity and self-worth. --Ramiro Burr

Ok, this album was my first contact with Selena's (amazing) talent.

It mainly consists of cumbia/tejano popular sounds, most of them very entertaining and completed by Selena's most charismatic voice. All of the tracks are beautiful and stay in memory, but my personal all-time favourite Selena song is the final track 'Ya no', with powerful rock inputs and Selena's husband, Chris Perez, giving us an exquisite quitar solo.

Plus, Selena gets so passionate when singing, that you can actually feel her sinking into the song.

Most of the tracks are written by her brother, A.B. Quintanilla. For those who don't know Selena, she started singing as a little girl with her brother playing the bass and her sister drums. And until her final CD, music remained a family tradition.

It is a shame that Selena is no longer with us. She was talented, she actually knew what music is and how it feels, she did not wear dead animals to feel important, she was the people's singer without being shallow and kitsch. She did the best quality of entertaining music - simple, beautiful, decent. She rose to be the first female tejano musician sending dynamism and power to female artists without stripping in every chance. Selena was not the 'Mexican Madonna'. She was far more talented and real.

Everything Selena did was gold. It's just a shame she had to be tacen away just when she was supposed to be introduced to the rest of the world! New fans did not get to see what a bomb she was on stage, and what a sweet ni~na mujer she was. A life-long and forever Sel fan.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect album.......2003-08-22

This is Selena's perfect album, every song is a gem! There is variety and every song is stuck in your head. I cant choose a favourite but I do love 'ya no' particuarly. This is the essential Selena album. Make sure not to pass up 'Entre a mi mundo' also!

5 out of 5 stars My favorite singer.......2003-07-17

I really like the songs that Selena sings. The thing I like about it is that she sings English and Spanish. I also like her voice and the way that her brothers and sister play the instruments. I think that it really nice that mostly the whole family is in it. I like Selena's songs more than anyother C.D. I wish she didn't die but she did. Even though she's dead, I still listen to hre songs.

Selena's Grammy-winning Live album is a sizzling reminder of her electric stage charisma and blossoming talent as a performer. The album's nine live tracks--recorded in February 1993 at the Coliseo Memorial in Selena's hometown of Corpus Christi--showcase the late singer's uncanny ability to infuse a love song with both girlish innocence and a heated sexuality. Particularly effective are extended versions of "Como La Flor," "Baila Esta Cumbia," and "La Carcacha." You can almost feel the heat seeping through your speakers. The album also includes three new studio tracks--"No Debes Jugar," "La Llamada," and the Emilio duet "Tu Robaste Mi Corazon"--which foreshadow Amor Prohibido, Selena's final Spanish-language album. --Joey Guerra

5 out of 5 stars Still my favorite Tejano CD.......2005-07-27

I remember listening to this CD endlessly back during the summer of 1995 shortly after Selena's tragic death. I have listened to Selena's studio albums many times and couldn't believe how good this live recording was. Selena and her band exhibit a lot of energy throughout this record. After listening to a lot of Tejano since, I have to say that this effort by Selena and company is still my all time favorite in the tejano genre. Listening to _¿Qué Creías?_ and _Si la Quieres_ brings tears to my eyes because this great and talented lady's life was cut so short. I'm not surprised that this CD won a Grammy. Tejano music, for me, doesn't get any better than this. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Selena's Grammy winner is still her best.......2004-09-02

This collection could easily have been called a greatest hits albums. Old fans and new will enjoy this fabulous collection of Tejano hits - Como La Flor, of course and her splendid "Cumbia." Selena is immortal through her music and continues to inspire us all.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!.......2004-02-01

This was actually the last Selena CD i got. I have "Amor Prohibido", "Greatest Hits", "Todos Mis Exitos", "Dreaming Of You" and i decided to get a copy of "Selena Live" to add to my collection. I was certainly impressed with her live performance. Selena sounds great and i like the way she says "Corpus Christi" during a few of the songs. My favourite songs from this album are: Como La Flor, Ven Conmigo, Ya Vez, La Carcacha and Tu Robaste Mi Corazon(duet which sounds great) and also No Debes Jugar and La Llamada(although these were not recorded live). In summary i say GET THIS CD YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

5 out of 5 stars And the Grammy goes to..........2003-07-02

Selena! I love this album because this was one of my early cd that I got from her and I have it with me everywhere that I go I don't leave the house w/o it. Great album she did win a Grammy so that does mean something right. Go get this album now because it might be out of stock who know it only ten years old.

Twelve of the late Tejano diva's hits are collected here, making for an excellent introduction to her passionate singing. Though fans won't find "Amor Prohibido," arguably Selena's biggest hit, all the others are here, including "Como la Flor" and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," some of fellow vocalist Pete Astudillo's best compositions. Overall, the album has a rollicking, vibrant flair, and those few Latin-music lovers unfamiliar with Selena will find a solid introduction with this CD. --Karen Karleski

God brought Selena home early, but she'll be there singing when we get there. I pray I get to see her father's face when he sees her again !! The CD is too good for the public...it was made for Godly ears. I loved it !! I own all of her CD's. She was and is the Real Deal !!

5 out of 5 stars A Great Introduction to the Music of Selena.......2003-03-15

12 Super Exitos was one of the first Selena CDs I purchased in 1997. I was buying every Selena album left and right at the time, so I didn't immediately realize that this particular album was a compilation. If you already have the albums on which the songs in Super Exitos originally appeared, then it's not an essential buy (unless you want a complete collection). Unfortunately, Selena didn't live long enough to have to produce a large "catalog" of songs as vast as those of Elvis, Juan Gabriel, or Nancy Wilson, for example. HOWEVER, if your only exposure to Selena has been her English language songs--such as "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall In Love," then 12 Super Exitos is the perfect introduction to Selena's Spanish language work. You can sample the various styles of Mexican and Tejano (Tex-Mex) music that Selena excelled in performing, as well as the English language ballad, "Missing My Baby." If you don't know any Spanish, relax--the tunes are rather infectuous! If you want some background on Selena's life and music, I also recommend getting the biography "Selena: Como La Flor."

4 out of 5 stars Nice over view of Selena hits.......2002-10-18

The cd is good and I like it show us what she could do and I just can't get enough of her and I am glad that I bought it because it just a nice collection of Selena best work.

I have all of Selena's music and videos. She was a VERY talented Tejano singer. Everyone should recognize her in that way. My favorite songs are Como La Flor, Ven Conmigo, Missing my Baby, and Dreaming of you. If she were still alive to this day, she would have been the best Tejano singer NATIONWIDE... I pray for her family!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A final masterpiece!.......2006-11-05

***** "Amor Prohibido" The first single and title track which hit # 1 in 1994 on the Hot Latin Billboard Charts. A great song and video. Beautiful melody and lyrics. This song actually tells the real life story of Selena's grandparents who in fact lived a "Forbidden Love".

***** "No Me Queda Mas" Her final video in which Selena wears her now famous white beaded gown which she also wore to the Grammy awards earlier in the year (1994). A beautiful song with powerful vocals and lyrics. A very heartfelt and romantic ballad. One of the best songs Selena ever recorded. Because of the success of the album "Amor Prohibido" (which sold over 400,000 copies before her death) EMI - Latin / Captial records re-released the album and included a re-recorded version of "No Me Queda Mas".

*** "Cobarde" A true Tejano song! Telling it how it is when a man is cowardly.

***** "Fotos Y Recuerdos" A cover of The Pretenders classic hit "Back On The Chain Gang". Although it reached # 1 a week after her murder it was obvious that this would have been the follow up single to "No Me Queda Mas".

**** "El Chico Del Apartamento 512" A major hit on the charts with very funny and silly lyrics.

***** "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" The follow up single to "Amor Prohibido" which was actually penned by Selena. Original performed in 1993 in English for the concert "Selena Live" but did not appear on the album. This song was very popular with children because of the catchy chorus.

*** "Techno Cumbia" This song gained more attention when it was remixed and released in 1995 on the posthumous multi platinum album "Dreaming Of You" in which it appeared as a Reggae version.

*** Tus Desprecios" One of the only Tejano sounding songs on the album. A reminisce of classic Selena hits such as "Mentiras" and "Ven Conmigo".

**** "Si Una Vez" A very successful song and fan favorite. Mixing Mariachi and Cumbia all into one.

***** "Ya No" Although this song only briefly danced onto the Billboard Charts it is still a great song. It was remixed for the # 1 album "Siempre Selena".

5 out of 5 stars Selena's Best Album .......2006-03-30

Selena is a true artist of the people. While working on her English language album she decided to put out this album.I am glad Selena Y Los Dinos put this out because it spawned the most hits...Every song on this album was a radio hit.It reached #1 on the Latin charts and stayed #1 for 53 weeks and it was a success...It reached #29 on Billboard 200 and achieved 2 platinum status. There is not a song on here I don't like

1. Amor Prohibido
This is an amazing track. This was a #1 smash for Selena and still played on the radios today.
2. No Me Queda Mas
A true latin classic. This song is amazing.I never get tired of hearing it.Everytime I hear it..I feel like I am hearing it for the first time.
3. Cobarde
A radio hit song. She sang this one live at the Astrodome concert in 1995.It's a great song.
4. Fotos Y Recuerdos
Ah.This would have to be my favorite track on the album. The song was taken from the Pretenders hit "Back In The Chain Gang" but of course Selena did a much better job. This a true latin classic.
5. El Chico Del Apartamento 512
Hit after hit..This a great song.A song that you never get tired of hearing.
6. Bidi Bidi Bom Bom
Who doesn't know this song? This a true Selena signature song.It was a #1 smash for Selena and I still hear it on radio stations today.
7. Techno Cumbia
Selena took a new way to her music.Selena is sort of raping in this song. The song came out great and I think would of continued her music in this type.
8. Tus Desprecios
This is a great song.Selena still shows she has her Mexican influences in her.
9. Si Una Vez
Ah.This is another favorite of mine. This is an amazing song and was another #1 smash for Selena. It's also a diffirent sound.
10. Ya No
Good way to end the album. This was a major radio hit. This is an amazing song and her first basically to have heavy metal guitar break downs.

Make sure you pick a copy up of this album. You Won't Regret It!

Amazon.com essential recording

5 out of 5 stars Sorry To selenas family memeber and to her fans.......2003-08-06

I thought that it was tradgic on what yolanda salvidor did to selena... And if it wasnt for her selena would be on top still to this day... and even though shes dead she still is... She will live on forever in music as people put it... I just couldnt imagine what it would be like to loose a sister, a daughter, and a wife... all do to the fact that she had to be selfish and greddy like she was... And I Think that J.lo jennifer lopez and Selena strike a strong resemlence and they talk and laugh just like one another... its so wierd ...I watch "Selena the movie" on v-h1 on tv whenever its on... Well thats all that i have to say for now... Sorry for your loss i know it must be hard to loose someone... Terra

5 out of 5 stars SELENA IS THE BEST.......2003-05-25

SHE STILL IS THE QUEEN OF MUSIC NO ONE IS BETTER THAN HER AND SHE IS NOT PHONY LIKE THE OTHER SINGERS

5 out of 5 stars A TESTAMENT TO SELENA'S DREAMS.......2003-04-29

Not many albums completely encompass a singer's full potential or talent, and "Dreaming Of You" is an exception. Selena's final English recordings are a brilliant testament to what might have been, what should have been.

Abraham Quantinilla, as we all know, is a brilliant man (and a brilliant sales-man), and when he put this record together he did so with great care. Along with such Selena classics as "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall In Love", he remastered and remixed some of her old tracks to make them more accessible to a new generation. With such firey songs as "Captive Heart" and "Techno Cumbia", he mixes in light hearted love songs such as "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" and "Missing My Baby". He covers Selena's entire heart-felt range from sugary love ballads, up-tempo cumbias, the classica, to tearful mariachi's, really showcasing Selena's vocal talent. One of the most striking tracks, "God's Child", is both haunting and melodic as Selena's searing vocals soar next to David Baird's enthusiastic guitar and gritty voice. While the new Spanglish version of "wherever you are" just seems to be clever re-packaging, it feels kind of empty knowing it was re-recorded without the help of Selena.
The vocal promise of this rising young star is completely visible in the record. It is both saddening and uplifting as the best track, the title track, hits the speakers. Although it's probably not intended to be, this is a bittersweet melody that is both light-hearted and tender...and one of Selena's best songs. This album is one of greatness, and should be owned by any true Selena fan.
