This is one of the best albums from one of the best musical groups in the world. If you were to buy a couple of Illapu albums, this should be one of them, along with En Estos Dias. They continue to put out really good albums but this is a classic.

Excellent intro to Illapu, but no their best.......2002-01-30

This is a great instrumental compilation and a very good introduction to Illapu, especially for those who don't speak Spanish. Even more highly recomended are their albums En Estos Dias, Multitudes, Vuelvo, and Morena Esperanza. If you want to hear them at their best look for their live album Momentos Vividos.

A friend gave me a tape full of music from Illapu including many of the selections from this album. I was so impressed with the musical precision and the energy and emotion conveyed through their music. This isn't in any way amature, but is excellent music. The variety is excellent!

I have had this music for about 5 years now and have not tired of any of the tracks!

Illapu puts out another great one.......2005-09-05

I never tire of listening to Illapu. While I don't share their political view and often times their music is highly politically charged, I love their music. The nice thing is that even though they are leftists politically, they always seem to have positive undertones. So much of what they are saying is true. I am reminded of Hernando deSoto's (Peruvian economist and head of the ILD) opening dedication in "The Mystery of Capital" (book) where he states that he shares the left's hope for a better world, but disagrees with their means of achieveing such. All of that aside, Illapu is wonderful music.

1972-1982 Anthology from Chilean Folk Group Formed in 1971 who Played a Music Style Known as Folklore Andino. Illapu (An Aboriginal Word which Means Flash of Lightning), Successfully Participated in Vina Del Mar Festival in 1973, and Later Performed at Bolivian and Argentinean Venues. They Put Together an Interesting Play, Called El Grito De La Raza, Combining Music, Acting and Dance. 1976's Despedida Del Pueblo Featured Classic Folk Song "Candombe Para Jose," Becoming One of the Band's Anthems. When the Group Returned from a European Tour in 1980, Illapu was Accused of Raising Support Against the Chilean Government and Sent Into Exile, Returning a Decade Later after Living in France and Mexico. 1993's En Estos Dias, featuring the Hit Single "Lejos Del Amor," Achieved Seven Platinum Records.

I am from the United States and heard Illapu live perform, with my Chilian wife.

They were so wonderful, humble, talented and beauty, love and serenity just came out of their music.
