Moody, atmospheric melodies and equally emotive vocals haunt much of Nadie Esta Solo, the gripping third disc from Italian singer Tiziano Ferro. Gorgeous ballads glide against more uptempo tracks, and it makes for an alluring mix. First single "Stop! Olvidate" is an effortless blend of electrified vocals and menacing beats, while "Y Raffaella Es Mia" is a slinky tribute to a renowned opera diva. '80s-inspired grooves and retro rhythms flavor much of Nadie Esta Solo, most notably during "Baciano Le Donne." Ferro presides over it all with a quiet, charismatic, confidence; he's equal parts Alejandro Sanz, Eros Ramazzotti and Robbie Williams (without so much cheekiness). It's all quite good, but Ferro shines brightest amid the lovely light of "Mio Fratello" and "Mi Credo," a misty duet with Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar included as a bonus track. --Joey GuerraCustomer Reviews:
Spanish madrelingua speakers love Italian -- consider buying TZN's native Italian-language version.......2006-08-13
Eleven very entertaining songs -- one in duet with the best-selling Italian recording artist Biagio Antonacci (it works) -- make a worthwhile purchase. If you have listened to Tiziano's other two albums to date, the sound is similiar, though -- as stated here on amazon -- more mature. Some of them have a more electronic sound, but -- again as stated above -- the whole album cannot be characterized as "electronic." TZN's passionate voice is strong in each recording, from the laments to the aggressive dance-floor rhythms. Three songs fit the dance category: STOP! Dimentica, E Raffaella e' mia, and Baciano le donne. I'm generally NOT a techno fan, or a dance music fan (exceptions are the many classics like "Superfreak"). I love the Italian language, and, as I've stated in my other "reviews" of Italian recording artists, the lyrics are enunciated (studenti d'italiano!), passionate, and fun (despite the melancholy themes/tone of many of them). The lyrics are all listed, in Italian, in the accompanying insert-booklet. Tracks are:
Tarantola d'Africa -- Ti scattero' una foto -- Ed ero contentissimo -- STOP! Dimentica -- E fuori e' buio -- Salutandotiaffogo -- E Raffaella e' mia -- La paura che... -- Baciano le donne (feat. Biagio Antonacci) -- Gia' ti guarda Alice -- Mio fratello
And let the CD play through to the very end as you will hear a hidden track with a very young Tiziano (he dates the recording at 1987) practicing a song. Though charming, his voice doesn't sound very promising. I guess Ferro's success should be all the more encouraging to parents with budding vocalists.
N.B.: Do a TITLE search on amazon to find several listings of NESSUNO E' SOLO -- some links are much less expensive than others (including those to other vendors).
To find the lowest price, Amazon patrons must often be creative with their search techniques. Try artist name alone, artist and keyword in title box, even try a possible mispelling if you can't find what you're looking for. Data entry can be problematic when there are as many products offered on Amazon and pressure on staff to enter the info quickly.
NESSUNO E' SOLO (and the other two CD-albums (and some CD-singles) by Ferro are also available in SPANISH LANGUAGE VERSIONS here on amazon.
P.S. Another Italian singer-songwriter/musician, the ROK STAR Gianluca Grignani, has recorded (only)his first (of many) CD release(s) in Spanish: DESTINO PARAISO. If you enjoy "TZN" you may enjoy Grignani as well.
You can clearly listen to his music evolution... STILL there's something missing..........2006-07-30
Tiziano Ferro's third production opens with "Tarántula de África"; an excellent song where you can listen to his evolution: this song has great musical arrangements and the instrumentation is just great. At some times, this song reminds me Train's "Drops of Jupiter" or one of those instrumental-rock songs. Next we have "Te Tomaré Una Foto"; a pretty ballad with a great acustic guitar intro and has a great potential to become another of his hit-single. "Y Estaba Contentísimo" is an excellent sad-tempo ballad with great arrangements and also a great single-potential.
Song #4 is the first single: "Stop! Olvídate", an 80's-sampled song which also reminds us Kelly Osbourne's "One Word". This is JUST A LITTLE BIT more like Tiziano Ferro's first Pop/R&B songs, but yet sounds completely different. The chorus at "Y Está Oscuro" might remind us a lot like "No Me Lo Puedo Explicar". "Despidiéndoteahogo" is also a sad, yet powerful song.
The we arrive to the first Pop song: "Y Raffaella Es Mía", whick talks about a fan's obsession for Italian diva Raffaella Carra; it's a funny-catchy song, but will never be a single. Next we have "El Miedo Que...", which can become this album's "Tardes Negras"-like hit-single: it's a sad ballad full of beautiful arrangements and a powerful lyric. "Baciano Le Donne" is an excellent 80's-like Pop/Dance song that WILL make you dance, and it's also Tiziano Ferro's third duet in his career, this time with Biagio Antonacci. "Gia Ti Guarda Alice" is a slow ballad, and "Mio Fratello" is that sad song that always signs the end of his album, just like "Il Bimbo Dentro" and "13 Anni/13 Años".
Generally it's a great album, but Tiziano Ferro's formula of 2-Step-Pop-R&B-catchy-dance songs is -once again- not found in this third album as it was in his first and lost in his second; and this formula may have possibly disappeared. I recommend this album to everyone who likes ballads... because these are just EXCELLENT in this new material!
Well.... Dunno............2006-07-28
If you like calm balads or are a fan of Tiziano, then you'll like it, but if you don't.... Better don't buy it.
Third time's a charm..........2006-07-24
As for the lyrics: I agree with the previous reviewer, they are a bit...creative, but hey, call me shallow, but I don't listen to TzN entirely for the lyrics. His soulful delivery, killer backing tracks, and uptempo grooves are the draw for me (he could be singing the phonebook backwards and I'd still buy it).
I feel that "Nessuno e solo" has built on Tiziano's maturation as a singer/songwriter. TzN is one of the few artists who's escaped the dreaded "sophomore slump": after a stellar debut, I always find subsequent albums lacking (like Dido, Lhasa, and Nelly Furtado's second albums). However, Tiziano is just as intensely listenable as when I first heard him on the radio in Northern Spain four years ago.
I would love to see him come out with an English-language album after his English stint on Xdono (English version) and Universal Prayer with Jamalia on 2004's Olympics album---he has the potential for North American crossover success with his addictive blend of strong ballads, trendy sampling, and Italian-influenced soul and R&B.
Stop! Olvidate! Tiziano?? Stop! Forget About It! .......2006-07-09
I'm a big fan of Tiziano since Rosso Relativo, which was a more R&B/Pop album with influences of 90's R&B and a more recent soul. Then 111 was another record taken to a more soft side of R&B turning it to classic R&B and giving a more ceremonial sound. When I heard that he was about to sing a duo with Laura Pausini I was wondering how it would sound. So I bought this record wanting to hear the duo but ain't nothing about that so don't hope you'll hear of it in here.
Now as I was saying Tiziano was taking the big long R&B road when he stopped to be a more 80's trendy (like Nelly Furtado did, or Justin will or Madonna) So took and sample a very odd hit of 80's song "Fade To Grey" and used it to create the Stop! Olvidate! which is a cool song and a very understandable by the way, comparing that usually Tiziano writes really weird things.
The album is a compilation to R&B tracks with influence of 80's dance or 80's slow jams plus dance tracks such as lampy-dumpy Y Rafaella es mia (And Rafaella is Mine) The song talks about fan obsession with italian diva Rafaella Carra. The song is so damn stupid that I felt sorry of Rafaella. Another lampy dumpy song is Tarantula De Africa (Africa's Tarantula) which talks about a tarabtula (really not joking Tiziano sings like he was a tarantula) The topic song is interesting and being an animal song has been considered really hard writting process (a good example of a good created song based on an animal is "Ballena Azul" of peruvian band NSQ y NSC) The song goes around and around of if the tarantula feels free and if its life would have changed if it would have been other animal or been in another place but in a cadge. Well, as I explained it do feels like it's a dumb topic.
Ballads like Te Tomare Una Forto (I'll Take A Picture Of You) and El Miedo Que (The fear that...) are really good but average compared to Sere Nere or Alucinado. I don't believe the album is bad compared to last releases cuz the last ones were also kind a missing - something. This one is ten times worst... this isn't Tiziano at all. It's more like a very odd guy who writtes weird things (or nonsenses) and believes he's a singer. Don't expect to hear a more mature vocal artist in here, a difference of 111 in this album Tiziano don't show off his vocals skills as much as he did before but he forgot that his voice sounds incomplete without his high notes.
Recomendation before you buy it: I might not like this as much as you could so hear previews of the song so you'll be more in touch of it.

Though the cornerstone of Uilleann piping may be found in the British Isles' colorful Celtic culture, the commonly termed bagpipes have ventured far and wide, making themselves quite comfortable not only in traditional and contemporized Celtic musics, Scottish weddings, and wakes, but in indie-rock, inspirational, world, and New Age styles. An example of the latter is that of José Angel Hevia Velasco and his release Tierra de Nadie. As a young boy coming of age in Spain, Hevia forsook competitive cycling for piping, studying the Asturian bagpipe with a master. Having played often and well since his boyhood studies, Hevia here takes up the electronic bagpipes as well as the low whistle, forging a highly polished and reflective blend with his band, which includes bouzouki, bodhran, violin, electric guitar, and electronic programming. Not for purists, Hevia's beat-driven concoction will prove tasty to adventurous dance, New Age, and international music enthusiasts. --Paige La GroneCustomer Reviews:
Moved to Tears.......2007-01-28
the day we spent at Epcot Center, we made it a point to see two shows.
After we left the Candlelight Processional I decided to stake out seats
for the Illuminations show (about three hours ahead of time). While I was
sitting in the seats we'd agreed on the technicians were testing the equipment for the show, including playing the music that counted down the
final half hour leading up to the show.(I heard this set of music twice)
Being a drummer and percussionist I have an affection for music that is
upbeat and jazzy, and not overpowering, but it's rare that a song moves me
to tears and one song did just that...twice. That song was Busindre Reel.
After Illuminations ended we were in a gift shop at Epcot and I asked a
clerk if they had any CDs of the preshow music and he said it wasn't
available but he told me how to find it on the internet. An eventual
google search led me to the Hevia CD.
Tierra Del Nadie is one of the few CDs I can listen to when I'm completely
stressed out and be relaxed by the time it's over. I've also added Busindre Reel and Gaviotes(Hevia's other song in the Illuminations preshow
set) to my practice tracks.
As a drummer and percussionist I've listened to or played music from all
over the world and I've been a Yanni fan for several years. All I can say
is Yanni better watch his back 'cause Hevia can give him some 'reel' serious competition!
I've been to Disneyland and Disney World enough times to know there are
two things don't skimp on:music and fireworks. For Hevia to have one
song in a Disney music lineup is a major accomplishment and having TWO
is almost unheard of. I hope Hevia realizes the significance of that
accomplishment and I look foreward to his next CD.
No-man's Land: A timeless and precious work of music.......2005-10-26
If you enjoy this album, make sure to also get yourself a copy of the soundtrack to "The Sea Inside", by Alejandro Amenabar. Though not focused on Asturian traditional music, it has some beautiful songs inspired by the people and landscapes of neighboring Galicia.
Great Bagpipe from Spain.......2005-05-18
TIERRA DE TODOS.......2005-04-19
Quite a coincidence.......2004-11-01
I eventually forgot about it.
Almost a year later I was walking through City Museum in downtown St. Louis and I heard some wonderful bagpipe music playing over the speakers. I asked the staff about it and got the name of the artist...on paper this time.
After I left the museum I went to a local Border's Books and Music and walked to the international section. When I found the CD, there on the cover was the artist I saw in the video all those months ago.
I have never regretted buying that CD and have introduced quite a few to Hevia's music.

Innovative and edgy aren't adjectives often associated with the staunchly traditional sounds of ranchera music, but they're perfect to describe No Soy De Nadie, the first effort on Sony Discos from Pepe Aguilar. The transition not only has inspired the singer, it's liberated him to mix a musical blend that's unlike anything in the genre. Carefully produced instrumentals, thoughtful songwriting and layered vocal arrangements give No Soy De Nadie the polished veneer of a pop album. Aguilar's delivery, however, roots the music in something personal and intimate. It makes for an intoxicating blend. "Se Fue De Mi (Aunque Respiro No Vivo)" and "Miedo" wouldn't be out of place on Spanish pop radio, while "Te Casas y Me Olvidas" and "Un Mexicano No Llora" have the gorgeously weary stamp of cantina classics. But it's ultimately Aguilar's confidence in his considerable talent that makes No Soy De Nadie one of the year's most solid and satisfying albums. --Joey GuerraCustomer Reviews:

From the era of the "Monsters of Salsa", call it Godzilla.......2007-02-01
It starts with a track about being left for an ugly man. It moves quickly and follows a steady beat. Not as exciting, but a good intro.
Track 2 exemplifies the talents of this band's congueros, who start it out right. The band eventually jumps into this slow starting song, giving it a solid crescendo.
Track 3, about a jealous husband, is funny and catchy. The examples of the man's jealousy get more extreme as the song goes on, leading one to wonder where else they can go with it. A lot of fun to listen to, this song marks the end of the first half. From here on in, it only gets much better.
Track 4 is another slow starter about a woman who's leaving her man. Around halfway, the congueros and horn section players do their bit, and the song goes from a sad lament to a powerful commentary. She's leaving, and there's nothing that can be done except sing like there's no tomorrow.
Track 5 is one of my favorite songs of all time. This is the sort of song with plenty of innocence and innuendo to appeal to everyone. Starting off with a call to a young woman, her man asks her to stay home today because it's about to rain. The song flows freely, with the lyrics following a path around the breaks. By the time the chorus arrives, you too will be asking this sweetie to return to her nido de amor. Once the lyrics are learned, this is one of the best songs to sing with friends while walking back from the beach. Well, at least it is for me...
Track 6, Brujeria, is one of the most dancy, catchy and easy to follow salsa songs ever. A man falls for a santera, and wonders whether his love for her is real, or the result of witchcraft. The chorus is so addictive on this song that it's a great song to play for people who've never heard salsa before. IF the listener isn't totally HOOKED by now, they will be after a stint of brujeria.
7 is the low point, a track about a break up. Not much here, but it's worth a listen.
Now for the end song that makes you wish there were another 20 on this album. These guys do a cover of "mujer boricua" one of Puerto Rico's better known oldies. It's a standard, but these guys tear this song up! The horns open it, the singer pays his tribute to the classic, and then they set it all on fire man. WOW is this song hot! The lyrics about wanting a woman with dark eyes, black hair y que sea boricua are powerful, fun, and will make you want to love a Borinqueña if you don't already.
My only beef with this fantastic album is that many of the songs take a while to build up. When they finally do build to the choruses, the song inevitably ends, leaving the listener with this longing for more. It's only about 40 minutes long, and every time I play this album, my whole body seems to want another hour or two of el gran combo.
This is one of salsa's best bands, and this is one of the best albums they've ever done. From the era of "los monstros de salsa", this album is Godzilla!

Great idea.......2006-02-01
The idea works very well as a concept, and I think it would work as well as a recital program.
Unfortunately, William Feasley cannot really pull it off. Some of this music is very technically difficult, and Feasley often finds himself on very thin ice. Anyone who has heard Julian Bream's recording of transcriptions of Albeniz and Granados is bound to be disappointed (for example) by Feasley's renderings of excerpts from
"Goyescas".
Still, as an intermediate guitarist who could stand to learn more about repertoire, finding the "Caprichos de Goya" by Castelnuovo-Tedesco was a delight.
I would recommend this album to anyone who would appreciate a well-constructed program of interesting music, who is not going to be put off by the more than occasional clams and errors.
