Not only is duelo fantastic. Also when you see them live they are so professional. Live music almost sounds like their cd's. I was very impressed.

OK First of all Duelo is an amazing band with a huge amount of talent!!!!!! I heard about the C.D from a friend and now I cant stop listening to it!!!! THe songs are soo beautiful and well written!!!! I only wish they could be promoted more outside of Texas so that their other fans can get a chance to show how much they are appreciated!! I would strongle recomend this c.d to everyone who is into the Norteno/ Tejano music because this c.d is the best and the band will certainly suceed because already they have devoted fans to support them as well as others who are barley discovering how good Duelo is!! Keep up the good work Duelo! u guys r the best!!!!

This group made an excellent debut CD. The lead singer was already known throughout the tejano scene because he wrote a lot of songs for some very well known groups. Excellent choice of songs, music and lyrics. Overall, this Cd kicks....

This CD will make you wonder........2006-02-16

This recording will make you ask yourself why these tuneful and haunting songs of Carlos Guastavino aren't much better known. I had never heard of Guastavino until David Garland played some selections from this CD on WNYC in New York, and I'm very glad he did. With lyrics by some leading Spanish and Latin American poets, these are songs that go straight to the heart.

Tenor Ulises Espaillat and pianist Pablo Zinger sound as though they have lived with this music for awhile. They respond to every nuance of Guastavino's settings, and the performances are caught in wonderfully natural sound.

If you don't speak Spanish, the enclosed booklet's English translations will allow you to follow along with the Spanish lyrics, and, if you're learning Spanish, this recording will help you along while opening a window onto Latin American culture. If you're a Spanish speaker, que suerte!

This recording is a great reminder that there are still many byways of classical music waiting to be discovered.

If Spanish is not your first language,
for the first time you will probably wish
it was. The songs recorded here are romantic,
emotional and nostalgic. Tenor Ulises Espaillat
sings with sentiment and emotion, and pianist
Pablo Zinger plays the piano outstanding.This
recording is so good and leaves me with very little
to say.

Clasicos de las Americas has Good Gottschalk.......2004-02-23

This six CD set has the Central and South American greats, but I prefer the North American who did some of his best composition South of the border. Louis-Moreau Gottschalk had the life of a modern day Rock Star. He is joined in this set by such prominent players as Heitor Villa-Lobos, George Gershwin, Augustin Barrios, and Carlos Guastavino. George Rabol is a favorite pianist.
