This CD does feel abit disjointed at times - not all the music featured is the "same", and yet it all somehow links back to the theme of lazy hot days, and the celebration of summer. It makes me think of the samplers that Windham hill has put out to showcase their various artists. The tracks run the gamut from smooth jazz, to new age, to world beat, to cajun jam session, but it all expresses a feeling of jubilation, and while I don't love EVERY song, I love enough of them to love the CD.

My first exposure to Windham Hill was from Winter Solstices 1 and 2. Naturally, I expected the Summer Solstice series to be in a similar style. I bought Summer Solstice 1, and I was not disappointed at all. The music was just what I was looking for. When Summer Solstice 2 arrived in the mail, I was excited to hear more of the same style. I was NOT expecting world music (as another reviewer said) with nice vocals in various languages. That said, I was severely disappointed with my purchase. Just know what you're getting into when you buy this album.

the best world music CD I have purchased in years.......1998-08-24

This album takes me away from my daily life. I feel like I'm on a vacation when listening to music as diverse as Africa, New Orleans and Hawaiia. I definitely recommend it!

La musica de Victor Manuelle es floja y no se puede clasificar como Salsa. En realidad es un sonsonete recyclado en cada disco. Como Boricua e instructor de baile de salsa puedo decir que las personas se frustran tratando de bailar salsa con la musica de Victor Manuelle. Les digo que si quieren escuchar y bailar buena Salsa escogan la musica de la Sonora Poncena, Willie Rosario y El Gran Combo entre otros..........Eso si es musica de verdad y Salsa Boricua...........

Para mi es el mejor de su trayectoria. Esto es Victor Manuelle, los temas empiezan bien, muy buenos, pero despues que pases de la cancion 4, Solo Contigo, despues de aqui es que empieza la crema del disco, Solo Contigo, Mi Sudor A Tu Silueta, Voy A Prometerme y Por Ejemplo. No me confundan, las primeras 3 canciones son buenas, pero estas son las mas serias para mi.

I bought this cd from Victor Manuelle in 2001 and this cd is fanstic from him. Its not the first cd I have bought from Victor Manuelle and nor the last. I had bought four others befor this cd. And I am going to bye the other 3 cds I do not have from him. The whole cd is nice. And Victor Manuelle sings he sings from his heart and not his voice. I like Victor Manuelle very much. I think hes really cool. I mean don't get me wrong. I never have met the guy. He may just be another sonb with money with a bad attide to the world. I do not know. But what I do know is he makes very well cds. All 5 cds I have right now I like the whole thing. Fanstic cd!!!! Bye it. I am not from puerto rico nor is my mother. My mom is from Domcian Rupublic and I am from New York but I have lived in Florida for 18 years. I speak only a little bit of spanish. I never learned spanish but I understand it.

Impressive....good traditional merengue.......2002-03-21

Alex Bueno is definitely one of the most versatile singers of tropical music no doubt about it. We have seen his solid talent in the following musical categories: merengue, bachata, bolero and balada but this cd has to be categorized as his best ever. In this album he has revived what is called "música criolla" and has reminded us of the nuances, rhythms and beats that are unique to dominican style merengue. Each song exemplifies its essence and the soulfulness that always is typical of this kind of merengue. This showcase of music which is definitely in a class by itself can be enjoyed by anyone who is a fan of tropical rhythms with lively beats and unique instrumentation. Alex's voice is outstanding and like most of his productions the cd can be played from beginning to end. Every song is worthy of recognition. If you are a fan of Alex Bueno, don't miss out on this one. This album is a treasure. Strong recommendation given.

Toro Bachata...this is their best so far.......2004-01-23

This is a typical Toros Band cd but the only difference is they switched musical genres. They tried their hand at a complete bachata cd and it's wonderful. All the songs should catch your attention. In short the lyrics are sentimental, rhythms are catchy, not too fast nor slow, Hector Acosta voice is strong and the bachatas have all the classic earmarks of Los Toros Band music- "bachateame" etc. My favorites are: Morenita and Olvidarme de ella. These songs were the popular ones on the market as well. This is a sincerely recommended cd by a truly successful Dominican group. Bravo los Toros Band!

If you are a bachatera(o) como yo, or a Los Toros Band fan,you might want to get this CD! I especially love the tracks Mi Morenita y Si tu no me quieres. This is one of their best!

I just want to start by saying that "Los Toros Band" has once again proved to us that it is the most complete band coming out of the Dominican Republic. This album is great. Most of the tracks are remakes of they're past hits. These songs were beautifylly made into bachata. The bachatas a great and Hector Acosta proves his versatility with his beautiful voice and he shows us why he has one of, if not the best, voices in Dominican Republic. All the tracks have beatiful lyrics and deep meaning. My favorite tracks are "Mi Receta De Amor", "Popuri#3", "No Puedo Olvidarme De Ella", and "Mi Corazon LLoro". Overall the album is great and if you don't have it, don't waste any more time and pick it up. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait till their next album.
