A mi criterio su album mas personal.

Soy un admirador de Silvio desde sus inicios y para mí este es su mejor trabajo, tanto así que este album de los años 70 parece un grandes exitos, solo agregue "El papalote", "Canción del Elegido", "Ojalá" y ya está.

El CD que compré aqui en Panamá se titula "Dias y Flores" y es el que he visto figurar en los "sites" que hacen referencia a Silvio, pero precisamente por ser este un album excelente le agregarón "Madre" y "Te doy una canción" ( las cuales no están en "Dias y Flores" originalmente ) y han creado un "The best of" camuflajeado.

Si solamente puede comprar un CD de Silvio esta es su mejor elección, no se deje engañar con la colección de grandes éxitos que figura en esta lista de CDs.

I grew up with Silvio Rodriguez music, since the famous "La era esta pariendo un corazon" saw the light. I have seen the development and maturity of his music after all these years. Even though I do not identify myself with the political content of many of his songs, I can not help but appreciate and enjoy the pureness and sensitivity that he purs into every composition. I have been at many of his presentations overseas (specially in Mexico City) as a silent admirer of his music, surrounded by a mob of so called "leftists", who still have a naive and distorted view of the cuban reality. I just laugh in silence about their unrealistic approach to Cuba, but I don't judge anybody because of their political views. I took charge of my own reality and changed it for the better. Silvio is one of those strong connections to my country and my youth, and I would do anything to go see him wherever he is. Politics aside, he is a brilliant and talented artist.

If you look to the tracks of this disc is just beyond great, it's one of my favorite Silvio's ever. "El mayor" beautiful and respectful homage to Cuba's independence leader Major Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz; "Madre" song dedicated to the heroic efforts to save motherland by vietnamese patriots against french and american imperialism; "Santiago de Chile" and "Te doy una cancion" painful first hand experience of Pinochet murderous coup; "Pequena serenata diurna" beautiful reflection of love put onto the historic perspective of social struggle; the very intimate and lyrical "Yo digo que las estrellas", "Claro de luna" y "Esta cancion"; the fiercely critical "La verguenza", "Sueno con serpientes" and "Dias y flores". Believe me, you will need an extra copy to keep on listening to it!

This is Silvio's 1975 debut album release, and it's a record to challenge the common perception of Cuban music. It's also an intensely gorgeous set of songs that almost reads like a "best of Silvio." Haunting, almost spiritual, with a moving voice, awesome acoustic guitar work and right-on songwriting. Ah, if only most Anglo singer-songwriters were this good! Buy this CD and it will soothe you and move you for the rest of your days. Count on it.
