Spanish metal at its finest.......2006-09-03

This was my first Avalanch album and continues to be my favorite. Time and again I've queued these songs up to play and each time they retain that special spark. On this album Avalanch has a classic, luminous sound that remains original. Of particular note is the dynamic vocal range that Víctor García retains throughout. The instrumentation is excellent; every song is different yet meshes together nicely. The chorus is amazing, especially on the title track, El ángel caído. The lyrics are emotional and well thought out. Since all of the lyrics are in Spanish, non-speakers may be turned off. In my opinion, this album transcends whatever language barrier there may be. Even if you don't understand, Víctor García's vocal inflection brings the music to life. If you enjoy epic power metal you have to pick this up, if only for the three acts of Las Ruinas del Edén where García relates the lament of God in Acts I and III and the refutation of Man in Act II. If you are a fan of Avalanch you probably already have this album. If not, you'll definitely want to get it!

As Powerful as an Avalanch.......2005-12-28

This is a great CD! I am a big Avalanch fan and can safely say that buying this CD is not a waste of money even if you don't speak Spanish (If you speak Spanish and are into heavy metal - you need to have this). The music is amazing and it isn't your garden variety heavy metal band that plows ahead sounding the same with every track. They mix it up and get melodic and ferociously heavy. The drum tracks and vocals are my personal favorite. Listening to these guys is like listening to a Spanish Dream Theater except less Yes-like. Where Dream Theater is a heavy metal Yes these guys take the melody and heaviness of Dream Theater, but extract all the Yes overtones. This is just one of many records from this band which tours mainly in Spain. If you really want to explore them even more try looking at CDbaby.com for more of an extensive catalog.
