5 out of 5 stars Umbrella remix CD by Rihanna.......2007-07-14

The two remixes on this CD are awesome. The original version of Umbrella is not so hot, but the the remixes make it a totally different song.

5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER HIT!!! Keep it UP!!!.......2007-06-11

Rihanna came with another summer anthem. 'umbrella' a great track over all... there are not many artist that have more than one hit.... rihanna can say that. she has had a hit for the past 3 summers and has no sign in slowin down.

Jay-Z did not take over the track like he alwayz tries to do... then rihanna comes with the hotness.. her voice may not b the strongest voice in music but she does kno how to use it and does songs that suit her...

the chorus is timeless "U can stand under my umbrella ella ella ey ey ey"... its the way she is singing it that makes it stick in your head.

the 'umbrella' video is so breathe takin... the silver body paint sold me....

'pon de replay", "SOS', 'unfaitful', now "umbrella".... keep the hits comin... ill b listenin

There are times where a good artist can make a song that can be a dissapointment, and there are those artists who've made dissapointing songs altogether. Rihanna has been unfortunately one of them. Her latest single, Umbrella from her upcoming record A Good Girl Gone Bad tries to place her into a more Hip Hop Soul style that tries to capture what Beyonce and Ciara have brought to the public. Sadly, Rihanna misses out from that image, and the song doesn't seem to help either. Especially, after the last few singles like the depressing Unfaithful, didn't help her sales. All in all, I think that she needs to find better material for herself, because it is going to be a stormy career left.

3 out of 5 stars 2-3 good pieces..........2007-04-18

The CD is not as great as others mention, at least not for me. I like 2-3 of the pieces but that's it.

4 out of 5 stars wonderful CD!!.......2006-08-08

this is a great CD -- i would rate it 4.5 stars. i was expecting more upbeat songs like track #2, but it is a great CD to lounge with.

the beats are awesome, and very well put together tracks.

4 out of 5 stars This is chill out, not tango.......2006-08-03

If you are looking for traditional tango, or you expect some kind of modern tango like Piazzola, don't buy this CD. This CD is electronic and interesting music, and i enjoy it a lot. I Strongly recommend this CD for people who likes electronic neither dancing nor meditation music. Moreover, i recommend to start with "La Revancha del Tango" from Gotan Project to listen how chill out tango sounds.

5 out of 5 stars Pure Lounge music.......2006-06-06

Trip hop and lounge lovers need to have this CD at home. Bajo Fondo Tango Club is not as pure tango as Piazzola's nor as chill out percolated as Gotan Project's, which makes them a band for all publics. Nor even one single person in my office couldn't help download at least one song of this CD into their ipods. Three of them already bought their copy.

1 out of 5 stars Rubbish.......2006-03-29

I agree with the fellow who used the word Muzak to describe this nonsense. It has all the feel of elevator music made for a business park in suburban Buenos Aires. In fact it made me rethink my feelings about the Gotan Project, which has one or two good cuts to its credit with the rest of its output being similar drivel. Honestly, begin with Tango Zero Hour by Piazzola and you will never tolerate garbage like the Bajafondo Tango Club.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, considering what it could have been.......2007-04-20

Take a look at the running times:

Disc 1: 60 minutes
Disc 2: 50 minutes
Disc 3: 61 minutes
Disc 4: 58 minutes

What gives Silva? There is *MUCH* more John Williams in the silva screen back catalogue by the Prague Philharmonic than what is in this set, and thats not including their entire discs devoted to Star Wars Films, Indiana Jones Trilogy etc. Why isn't Hook "When You're Alone" included on Disc 2? There's room. Why isn't 1941 on Disc 1? There's room. Why isn't Earthquake on Disc 3? There's room. Why isn't Far and Away on disc 4? There's room. Where's the other ten minutes of the Rare Breed suite on disc 3? Why isn't Midway on disc 1? Where are the Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel and Lots In Space tv themes? Etc. Etc. Etc.

C'mon Silva, most of these 4 disc mega boxes released in the past few years are packed to the brim, but not this one, and with new recordings made after this was released (the terminal, munich, geisha, war of the worlds, star wars ep 3, harry potter 3), it only makes sense for a "re-do" in the next couple of years.

Further, with Silva releasing the 100 Greatest Film Themes on six discs in a couple of months, it's only a matter of time before we see the ultimate six disc john williams set.

This isn't a BAD set to own, but it could have been much better and when compared to the Jerry Goldsmith and John Barry sets in this same series, this one is a major letdown.

5 out of 5 stars Always a pleaser.......2007-03-31

I listen to music all day with patients in my dental chair. This one is a winner with everyone. Patients always comment on how they recognize a song. Who doesn't love John Williams? His music transcends time.

5 out of 5 stars JOHN WILLIAMS 40 Years of Film Music.......2007-01-10

This 4 cd pack is an anthology of all John Williams works. From his earlier works "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Jaws" right through "Indiana Jones" and the most recent"Star Wars" prequel movies are included. Williams work in thriller and horror are also included. If you are into soundtracks and love movie music this is an essential buy. The quality of the music is excellent. With ten or more tracks on each cd it's well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Movie Music Magic & Memorabilia.......2006-12-13

This four CD set expands on the previously released John Williams Greatest Hits. It's a grand collection of nearly four hours of famous music scores from over forty years. There are many songs never before available in any collection. The short liner notes tell a great tale of musical movie history and include all of his numerous award nominations and wins. Each song (oddly enough) mentions the actors and the director, so fond are John Williams's memories of his work with these people. All of the conductors are mentioned along with specific orchestras, choirs, arrangement and orchestration specialists and even the publishers (contractual, I am sure). The only things missing are his early television scores, such as those for "Lost In Space" (by Johnny Williams back then). But with four discs, one has nothing to complain about and everything to enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars John Williams: 40 Years of Outstanding Film Music.......2006-11-28

I have been a huge fan of John Williams and I have known about his music for years. However, I never actually bought any of his music on CD. I was rather skeptical about purchasing this CD but when it arrived I knew I had made the right choice. The sound quality of the compilation is outstanding. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra do a great job under the direction of Paul Bateman. The original London Symphony Orchestra CDs of John Williams' Star Wars Trilogy CDs are marginally better but this is still a great CD compilation. If you love ET, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, you will love this compilation soundtrack. Buy it, listen to these CDs in the car and enjoy every minute of the collection!!!

The manipulation of classic jazz tracks has been part of DJ club culture since the '80s, as artists have continually scratched, looped, and sampled beats and phrases. Verve Remixed has been in the planning stages for years, with in-house producers inviting an international cast of remix artists to select songs from the label's vaults. The results are often tremendously successful, as the remix artists have picked up and expanded upon elements already present in the original. The funky Latin beat of Willie Bobo's "Spanish Grease" gets new life from Richard Dorfmeister, along with a prominent new bass line. Similarly, King Britt pumps up the Indian elements of Tony Scott's "Hare Krishna." dZihan and Kamien's trance remix (with tabla drums) of Billie Holiday's "Don't Explain" is among the most arresting tracks, creating psychodrama between Holiday's original vocal and the new environment. Nina Simone's voice seems tailor-made for this approach, as if it has always cried out for the layered rhythmic emphasis. Masters at Work's take on her "See-Line Woman" is electric in its intensity--cool flute sonorities and metallic percussion embrace and catapult the original vocal into a new presence. --Stuart Broomer

5 out of 5 stars Verve Remix.......2007-01-10

This is the third time I have puchased this particular CD and HIGHLY recommend it. It takes the classic jazz stylings of the most popular artists in their day and blends it with todays house/dance music. The combination is soulful and catchy. You won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional Lounge!.......2006-07-01

A must have for your collection: From Tricky's FUNKINESS with Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit To the LAID BACK COOLNESS of Sarah Vaughn's SummerTime remix by UFO. You will enjoy the sounds... Please take note that if you are a top-40 junky these tunes are probably NOT for you.

2 out of 5 stars Worst of the series.......2006-04-27

I have all three of the "Verve Remixed" CDs. This one is the worst. On this CD, I just cannot see the point of mangling these old recordings. I found no compelling rhythms at all.

By contrast, the #2 and #3 CDs in the series are great. I find this puzzling. Usually, sequels suck. In this case, the musicheads at Verve seem to have improved their game with practice. I respect them for that. Now I'll just start up Remixed #3 and bliss out for a while.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliantly Groovy and Funky !.......2006-02-20

Not many CD's make you heart skip a beat the moment you listen to them. This is definitely one of those rare finds. And this is why:

1) The quality of the original (unmixed) tracks is superb. Great songs to begin with.
2) The remixes do great justice to the original songs and performers. There's a great deal of respect to these legendary performers and their voices in the remixes.
3) The quality of these remixes is outstanding.

The result is unbelievable. You'll get an incredibly well-produced compilation of jazz hits from SUPER-performers such as Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday remixed by MEGA-DJ's/producers like Rae & Christian, dZihan & Kamien, De-Phazz, Thievery Corporation, King Britt, UFO, Funky Lowlives, etc...

BUT BEWARE, the sound is not jazz (maybe nu-jazz or electro-jazz, but not jazz). It is definitely sexy, groovy, funky, retro-cool, classy electronic music with touches of jazz. Perfect for any situation. Pre-party warm-up at home, martini-drinking at a nice lounge, people-watching at THE white party in South Beach, or maybe simply at home working on your laptop.

This CD is sooo good, it's gonna make you feel hip, cool, and sexy...But all that BS aside, the track selection, remixes, and overall production quality make of this album a TRUE GEM. Go get it.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty impossible to put down..........2006-01-12

The idea of taking a "classic" track and updating it for club consumption isn't new and the road to success is littered with the burnt-out wrecks of failure. But when it works, as it does on most of the tracks here, the results can be quite magical.

So, what makes it work? Well, in the case of Richard Dorfmeister's stunning interpretation of Willie Bobo's "Spanish Grease" it's understanding why the original is so infectious and then overlaying & seriously extending these elements with the very best of electronica/dance to make it... much better. Or in the case of Thievery Corporation's total rework of Astrud Gilberto's "Who Needs Forever?" its taking a couple of phrases from the song that capture the atmosphere & essence of the artist and using them to produce something that, while it bears little relation to the original, becomes one of the very best Astrud Gilberto tracks you'll ever hear.

Clever & brilliantly effective, the whole album is stuffed full of similarly impressive remixes by some of the best club artists around and, if you like this sort of thing, it's an absolute "must buy". And, if you don't, it may well make you think again because once it gets its hooks into you it's pretty impossible to put down.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, definitely not great.......2007-01-07

I bought this because I remembered this band hit from the '80s, which is Be Near Me. The other songs are ok, but nothing particularly special.

5 out of 5 stars The BEST album of the times........2005-10-05

Almost no one gets it.These guys, are a band! So when they did what great bands do ,nobody cared. This record Rocks, it swoons, pokes fun at thr governmet,Makes you cry, laugh, think,in all, is just perfect. The production, vocals and tightness of the band is as good as anything done in the 80's bar none. BUY IT! listen close and get in on the joke..

4 out of 5 stars ABC from A to Z.......2005-09-17

To cop from Elvis Costello, the debut album from ABC was the dance floor equivalent of "a chainsaw running through a dictionary," albeit one that you could cut a serious rug by. "The Lexicon of Love" was, quite simply, one of the best albums from the MTV British Invasion of the 80's that brought forth the likes of Culture Club, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet. Songs like "Poison Arrow" and "Look Of Love" were lyrically literate, lushly produced disco-popera's with more than a hint of David Bowie and Roxy Music.

Of course, after a perfect debut, ABC had a heck of a time ever bettering their first act. The second album was a turn towards rock, best shown by the single "That Was Then But This Is Now," which tried to pair the lushness of the debut with a solid rock guitar. More representative of the band is "SOS," but the sharp turn in style - and the less than enthusiastic response to "Beauty Stab" - sent Martin Fry and Mark White into a genre hopping tailspin for "How To Be A Zillionaire." Although "Be Near Me" maintained the stellar quality of the band's earlier singles, the synths became top-heavy and made songs like "Vanity Kills" and the album's title track more novelty than classic.

A near fatal brush with Lymphoma brought Fry back into focus for "Alphabet City," a solid and coherent album that yielded ABC's biggest chart single, "When Smokey Sings." Matching the Motown worship of the debut with a new sense of reserve, "Smokey" and the other singles, "King Without A Crown" and "The Night You Murdered Love" found Fry and White living up to those early Roxy comparisons. Unfortunately, whatever straightforwardness ABC gained on "Alphabet City" evaporated on the glib "Up!," trading in solid popcraft for uninspired sounding pseudo-soul, although "One Better World" at least has its heart in the right place. Their slick and lush sound was also rapidly falling from favor (Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails happened to release their debuts the same year "Up!" came out), and ABC went on hiatus soon after.

With two new songs ("Blame" is killer) and Fry back on the road, ABC has a solid legacy of singles to draw from. So while their albums after the debut were often spotty affairs, "Look Of Love" holds its quality better than many of the video here-today, gone-later-today sorts that populated the MTV Airwaves in the 80's. This collection also neatly supplants "Absolutely ABC" by adding the new songs plus two others, and nixing any worthless remixes. After this, recommended listening is "The Lexicon of Love," a five star album in its own rite.

5 out of 5 stars retro-future genius.......2005-09-07

a seminal collection of wonderfully remastered gems by one of the best acts to come out of the eighties.

ABC crafted a sound and an image that was akin to crossing Bowie with electronica/dance: smooth, hip, stylistic and enduring. The songs are really ageless, offering those of us around in that decade the pleasure of looking forward to re-discovering the brilliance; and those perhaps born in that decade the chance to look back with wonder. Hopefully both of us can expect future creative output by the band!

Long live ABC! (I'm going to see their show in Dallas tonight!)
Gotta see them live on this tour!

3 out of 5 stars Schizophrenic?.......2005-06-29

ABC has never been the same since the smashing debut Look Of Love. There are one or two gems post, for example Ocean Blue - an absolutely brilliant song, perhaps their best. Putting the entire lot into one album is kind of a schizophrenic experience. The How To Be A Millionaire phase was just boring.

And according to the reviews this collection contains Man Trap, the smoky remix of Look Of Love, but I don't see it anyway. Man Trap is a rare gem indeed - literally. It may have served this compilation to have the B Side of Ocean Blue - The Atlantic Mix is even better than the original version.

Alice Deejay finds its inspiration at the nexus where house music meets Eurovision songwriting. The creative force behind Alice Deejay, and the voice fronting it, is a Dutch club DJ identified only as Judy. She's enlisted two other singers (Gaby and Jane) and a host of European house-music producers from the more pop end of the spectrum--people whose credits include remixing Ricky Martin's World Cup theme song and the Vengaboys. The result is a mixture of melodies that are heavily Europop with maybe a dash of contemporary U.S. Britney-'n'-Backstreet Top 40 over a beat that started with Giorgio Moroder in the late '70s, took a trip through the British Hi-NRG style in the '80s, and hasn't yet quit. The handiest comparison to someone who has combined a similar set of elements in an obviously successful way is to Cher and her hit "Believe," but the proof that crafting melodies that catchy is not easy is also on display. --Bob Bannister

4 out of 5 stars Who Needs Guitars Anyway?.......2007-02-27

Two-fingered basslines, cosmic wooshes and thunderous Yamaha beats certainly don't make for quality music, but in the case of Alice Deejay's arrogantly-titled "Who Needs Guitars Anyway?", it makes for one heck of a party. Fuelled by the ubiquitous single "Better Off Alone"- arguably the most recognizeable mainstream electronica hit alongside Darude's "Sandstorm" and ATB's "9 PM (Til I Come)"- the album dives right into throbbing club stomps and trife lyrics. It's pure Velveeta, but the thing we Americans fail to realize about these bizarre Euro kids is their willingness to accept that cheese factor and just dance. Take it from that perspective, and you'll find a club record with surprisingly entertaining results.

3 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the 3 tracks, 0 stars for the rest........2007-02-07

There are only three tracks on this CD worth anything. Everything else is just OK. If you like "Better Off Alone" enough to spend the money, Definately buy this CD, otherwise; Download the tracks off of Itunes.

3 out of 5 stars has its moments.......2006-09-16

here's the deal, I'll be quick. I loved 'better off alone' and the only other track that struck me as being nearly as good was 'lonely one'.. all the rest are not what you are going to be expecting if you are going for what you've heard on the radio. Trust me its a well done album as far as production goes, but the beats and vocals get quite repetitious to put it mildly.

5 out of 5 stars Who Needs Guitars Anyway? ~ Alice Deejay.......2006-04-01

Who Needs Guitars Anyway?~ Alice Deejay is a steupendous trance album with amazing sounds, loops and beats. The lyrics are great and have that eurovision quality to it that is perfect for this kind of music. I especially like the fact that they have seemingly handpicked the keyboard sounds. I love songs like the lonely one, no more lies, back in my life and better of alone. I especially the brilliant keyboard sounds used for the track the lonely one and no more lies. The production value for the album is top notch. This is a must have album for dance parties and clubbing as Alice Deejay has created one of the best trance albums of all time.

3 out of 5 stars It's Ok.......2005-11-21

As a fan of euro, goa, and some synthpop. I was impressed by this release. It had 4 good songs.

Back In my life
The Lonely One
Waiting for your love
No More Lies

The rest was kind of dull or too cheesy for my taste, but dont let my tastes stop you if you're into this style for the beats or if you like cheesier stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Don't know what he's singing about but he IS singing @}->---.......2006-08-05

As a long time fan of Marc Anthony, I have all of his cds. I love his voice because while it's powerful, it's also smooth and heavenly. I love all of his work, but there is something about him singing in spanish. It's obviously so natural to him and he's at his best then. Not that I know what he's singing about, but the songs are so stunning and beautiful - it almost doesn't matter.
On here, the two standout songs are Te Conozco Bien and a beautiful ballad Hasta Ayer. I love to listen to this often because it's soothing after a long day. While I do wish he'd release more english speaking albums, again, I think he's at his best singing spanish. Pick this up if you are a salsa or a Marc Anthony fan. It's amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Best Album by Marc Anthony.......2005-10-27

I originally purchased this tape over eight years ago. I had a super long commute and it never left my car. Now that I no longer have a commute, or a tape deck in my truck for that matter, I decided to purchase the CD for in home use. And USE it I do. There are not a lot of songs on the CD but as the old saying goes its quality not quantity that counts. I own other Marc Anthony CD's but this is, by far, the best.
Buy it and enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Todo esta tan rico!.......2004-12-07

I truly don't know how ANY Marc Anthony CD can go unnoticed---particularly the Spanish language albums. This man is truly one of the greatest salseros of today. He mixes his own funky, fresh flavor with traditional salsa coros and beautiful orchestration (due in no small part to Sergio George, one of the greatest Latin music producers today).

This album starts off on a high and energetic note with "Se Me Sigue Olvidando." I love the piano intro! It only gets better from there. Some of his most well-loved salsa tunes are front and center on this CD. They include "Te Conozco Bien," "Nadie Como Ella," and "Te Amare." There is also an achingly beautiful ballad in "Hasta Ayer." If anything, Marc needs to record more romantic ballads. I can guarantee you, that if he doesn't break your heart with his devestatingly beautiful vocals, the guitar riffs will melt even the iciest heart. Many of these songs are also featured on "Desde El Principio," a retrospective of Marc's great salsa career.

5 out of 5 stars The best Marc Anthony album ever!.......2004-08-20

This is my very favorite Marc Anthony album. "Se Me Sigue Olvidando", "Te Amaré", and "Nadie Como Ella", are my three favorite songs on this album. None of his other albums could ever compare to this one.

From Amazon.co.uk

It's been a long ten years since Take That disbanded. Their recent reformation and world tour offered overwhelming evidence that, far from being forgotten, the post-Robbie quartet can still command hysterical amounts of goodwill and adoration. Beautiful World illustrates why this is so. Written in conjunction with songwriter/producer John Shanks (Ashlee Simpson, Anastacia, Alanis Morissette), the album is crammed full with the songwriting magic that made their rise to fame so meteoric in the first place. Far from being an exercise in nostalgia, the project moves the band in a slightly new direction. The four come across as more mature, more democratic (all members share songwriting credits on the album, rather than just Barlow), and even more adept at making epic pop that somehow avoids the cheese factor. Lead single "Patience" is a perfect example of how powerful and accessible their songs can be. It'd be a good contender for the album's peak moment if the rest of the tracks weren't so damn good too. With traditional Take That style songs (the immediately likeable "Reach Out", the brimming "Like I Never Loved You At All"), nicely punctuated up by incongruous outings like Jason Orange's folkish "Wooden Boat" and Mark's upbeat, Beatles-esque "Shine", Beautiful World sets a whole new standard for a band previously known more for their singles than their long-players.--Danny McKenna

5 out of 5 stars Great Music.......2007-07-14

I saw them perform for Princess Diana's concert. I really didn't know who they were until I checked out some of their other music on Amazon. I recognized them almost at once. This is a wonderful offering, Patience caught my ear, and I had to hear more. I'm glad I bought the CD, and have downloaded older tracks as well. Well worth buying, I would recommend this to anyone. I may be wrong, but I felt the last few tracks were influenced by some of the Beatles music, and maybe a little of the Bee Gee's. ENJOY!

4 out of 5 stars Tkae That takes it.......2007-05-09

Great come back album. more mature than previous albums but still hints of their earlier work.

5 out of 5 stars It was definitely worth the wait.......2007-04-30

I was a huge fan of Take That way back when I was a teen.......I even followed Gary Barlow's career when the group separated. Gary's voice is just one of the sweetest, greatest voices you can ever come across. It just makes you want to have him singing in your ear. I'm much older now so when I heard that Take That was getting back together it not only made my day but my whole year! The album is great, some songs better than the others as in almost every record any artist puts out. It's great to see all the members stand out, not just Gary in the spotlight. So if you liked Take That 12 years ago like when you heard "Back for good" for the first time, you'll sure enjoy this album as well.

4 out of 5 stars Take That, welcome back...for good!.......2007-04-29

Move aside Westlife, Justin Timberlake, and Backstreet Boys.

The greatest boy band of our time Take That have returned with a big bang.

Beautiful World is That's 4th studio recorded album, not counting the compilations. It's a nice collection of mellowed-down ballads along with some foot-stompers and crowd-pleasers.

The Manchester boys have grown up. It's been 10 years since the time Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, and Jason Orange announced that they were parting ways -Robbie Williams ditched the band months earlier and ended up being the most successful of them all, he does not return to the lineup this time around (it's his loss really). The overall feel and sound of World reflects the boys' maturity and self assurance. It also symbolizes the first time the boys share songwriting duties: Gary Barlow isn't the sole writer, Mark, Howard, and Jason all are credited; Jason debuts as a lead singer on the fantastic album closer Wooden Boat.

The album opens up with the breathtaking Reach Out, a beautiful ballad and future single, that reminds us why we loved Take That in the first place. The UK Number 1 singles Patience and Shine are simply awesome, the latter written and sung with conviction by Mark is probably one of the best pop songs I've heard in a long time, while the former is sung by Gary with such an infectious passion; Patience is technically Gary's first hit single in about a decade. Mark's Shine is the most upbeat song on the album with a beat that is similar to ELO's Mr. Blue Sky, with Beatlesque harmonies and an incredible chorus; the music video to Shine includes references to The Beatles' Your Mother Should Know video. Howard's radio friendly self-reflective Mancunian Way, a potential single, is a cool song that will eventually grow on you after a couple of listens. Gary's lovely ballad Ain't No Sense In Love, another potential single, and the first group effort I'd Wait For Life produce a nostalgic sense of how great it was being a fan of Take That in the 90's. Mark's What You Believe In is an elusive bluesy pop-rock number. Finally, Jason Orange's breakthrough Wooden Boat is a country influenced acoustic number (Jason actually has learned to play guitar and write songs over the 10 years that passed), and turns out to be one of the highlights on World. There's also a bonus track that appears shorty after Boat fades out titled Butterfly, a sweet catchy ballad written by Gary.

Beautiful World might not be as great as Everything Changes or Nobody Else, and Take That might not be as young and exciting as they were once. The album does lack the typical Take That dance and upbeat tracks along with the piano-driven ballads that made past efforts much more balanced. However, their return with this album deserves a very warm welcome. I'm sure the fans will agree!

So I will end by saying: Take That, welcome back...and hopefully, for good this time!

4 out of 5 stars Take That all grown up!.......2007-03-09

After a hugely successful TV documentary, and an even more successful tour last year, Take That return (minus their most famous alumnus) with their first album in 10 years.

"Beautiful world" sees them ditching the youthful pop sound of their past, in favour of a more adult rock/pop format, resulting in the strongest album of their career. All four guys pitch in lyrically and vocally. The album has already topped the UK album charts and sold over 1.2 million in the UK.

Opening is the sunny, upbeat "Reach out" with tight 60s sounding harmonies a-la Beach Boys, Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel (something showcased throughout this CD) and a catchy sound. In a similar vein is the floaty titletrack "Beautiful world".

Lead off single (and UK #1) "Patience" is a brilliant Beatles-like mid tempo charmer with a towering feel. With an even stronger Beatles feel is the upbeat "Shine", currently #1 in the UK. Need I mention the excellent harmonies?

A real surprise comes in the folk ballad "Wooden boat" with brilliant lyrics. The soaring piano ballad "I'd wait for life" is a real winner (great instrument build up towards the end). However, the melancholic "What you believe in" has got to be the best Take That ballad ever. Awesome!!

Take That are back, and all grown up!
