I don't have this particular CD; however, I have every other CD on the market of Los 3 Reyes (Los Tres Reyes), which contain these same songs.

I had the fortune of meeting Gilberto and Raul Puente, and Luis Villa, their new lead voice, when they performed in San Jose and Salinas (California) in 2001. I also had the pleasure of socializing with Gilberto Puente on a personal level. He is a very down-to-earth individual, considering he is among the best guitar players Mexico has ever produced, if not the best.

In fact, Gilberto is considered to be Mexico's best guitarist. No doubt, every song he has every interpreted has been a success, both with his trio Los Tres Reyes and later as a soloist.

I recommend you read, "Los 3 Reyes. El Ultimo de los Grandes Trios", by Gustavo Leal Benavides, the biography of the Puente brothers (to include their sibling, Gustavo), and the entire biography of how Gilbert and Raul formed different trios until flourishing as Los Tres Reyes, with the great lead voice of Hernando Aviles, who had been instrumental in forming the legendary trio Los Panchos several years earlier. The book is out of print; however, I managed to find a used copy on Amazon.com...just keep checking.

You cannot go wrong in purchasing any music by Gilberto Puente, Los Tres Reyes, or Hernando Aviles. Gilberto's ability to play the requinto (guitar pick, in simples terms) is what has set him and his trio aside from all others. He is fast, yet clean; the sound is clear and crisp. He's also interpreted different genres, making him a versatile, well rounded musician.

Some of the rythms interpreted by Los Tres Reyes were: Boleros; Valses (Waltz); Baladas (Balads); Guarachas (Salsa); Rancheras; Merengues; Pasillos; Sambas; Country; Cumbias; Huapangos; Jazz; Joropos; Pasajes; and Sones. (Source: Los Tres Reyes. El Ultimo de los Grandes Trios.)

The other key factor in their success has been their ability to record popular songs with an added spice. Los Tres Reyes recorded many songs already popular, only to have them resurface due to the manner in which they rearranged the melodic and rythmic composition to reflect their own style. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say....

Is his third album and all the tracks are excellent, all of them! Here he sings romantic salsa and they are affliated with the album's name "En La Intimidad". I highly recommend this album to anyone, no matter whether you are into salsa or not, shouldn't be missing in your collection.
