I can honestly say that this is one of the best records by an independent/unisigned artist I've heard in some time. "Shouting Constellations" has a trance-like chorus that should be all over the radio. (The other songs are great as well.) There are great grooves, interesting bass lines, and subtle yet brilliant guitar work. The lyrics are fascinating and the production is great. The only problems is that the album is too short. I've seen these guys live and they rock!

This album was a big disappointment. I saw this band playing in lower Manhattan twice. Surreal puts on a solid show. They weren't able to capture their live energy on this album, at all. The production is weak, and without the energy of their live performance you quickly realise what these songs aren't: good.

Save your 9 bucks and go see em' live. They're playing better material than this now.

ONE BEAUTIFUL ALBUM..........2000-03-16

I consider this album to be one of my favorites. I put it on in the morning, when my mind hasn't been frazzled by the days hassles. The swirling sounds & uplifting melodies make me feel like the day ahead is full of endless possibilities, and their poignant lyrics inspire me. In a cynical world, Surreals' attitude is a refreshing blast of good vibes. I know these guys from the local scene and as people they reflect exactly what's on this incredibly visceral album that I consider a work of art. The only comparison I can make is that they sound a bit like Buffalo Tom. I can't believe these guys aren't signed to a major label and known all over the world! BUY THIS ALBUM-YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

These guys are the true example of determination and grit. They have a desire to be a major influence in American music, and have not wavered. I have been listening to Surreal since 1991, when they performed at Rutgers University, and am amazed that the dream lives on with an uplifting new recording. Take some time to catch these guys live. You won't be disappointed.
