In the '70s, Los Cadetes de Linares ascended to the top echelons of norteño with a simple but engaging mix of bass-thumping corridos and the nice vocal harmonies of Homero Guerrero Sr. (who also wrote songs for the group) and Lupe Tijerina. Patterned after Los Algres de Teran, another seminal group, Los Cadetes stood out for their flush but brawny boleros, ringing corridos, and rhythmic cumbias. At the heart of norteño is the corrido, and Los Cadetes were superb interpreters of the form, as evidenced here by "Corrido e Joe Lopez," "Corrido de Arturo Garza Trevino," and "El Texanito." Los Cadetes also deliver solid bluesy-norteño grooves on the boleros "Ven a Buscarme" and "Me Voy, Me Voy." --Ramiro Burr

This cd and all others that have been made by Los Cadetes de Linares will surely make you get up and dance. These guys are great and if your from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon then you surely know who they are. These guys are classics and will live on, especially in my household!!

visit any bar in northern mexico and most likely you will hear a "cadetazo". this dynamic duo has been at the top of the mexican norteno charts for over 25 years. they've proven time and time again that they can get any party started. this album chronicles their greatest hits, hits which beat out 50 cent or tone loc anyday. remember when you're in da club, instead of screaming out "yeeaahhh" like lil' jon, scream out "estos eran dos amigos, que venian del chapumil..." upon analyzing their songs played backwards you will find subliminal lyrics like " adora al platano viejo. tu espiritu no duerme cuando el diablo de nogales chupa tequila. vete con tu chango desnutrido al rincon del zapo" hard, intensive, and thought provoking words from homero guerrero.If there's any group worthy of a grammy lifetimne achievement award, los cadetes are your men, fo shizzle!so to all those greedy capitol record corporates, soon enough pop will be dead and there will only be two good bands ion the whole wide world....radiohead and los cadetes.
