A fan of La 5ª Estacion now!!!.......2007-01-04

I happen to come across this band while walking around a store. They had this DVD playing on a big-screen TV. I just had to have it so I placed the order in Amazon after I got home.

The sound, the lyrics, everything about the band was great. The way the singer performs shows the passion behind it. She wrote the songs and I just have a higher level of respect for those artists that can write and sing.

This version actually sounds better than their original recording for these songs. So, if you have not purchased a CD from La Quinta Estacion, I suggest you skip the original version and buy this. It comes with the DVD of the concert and a few added bonuses (additional videos of a few songs) as well as a CD with two additional songs that are not shown in the live concert.

Excellent Live Preformance.......2005-12-15

The video DVD was most excellent. Showing the band as a group of high spirits and professional dedication. The songs are well preformed and leaves me hoping to see this fine group at one of their live preformances. The videos included in the dual disc package were very nice and worth the extra expense. Still need to get the group's CD "Flores de Alquiler" being that several songs did not make it to "Acustico"

THE Lenine release to buy.......2007-03-27

I first heard Lenine courtesy of a PBS special that aired ages back, featuring music from Lenine, Daude, Zelia Duncan, Cascabulho, and others. While I subsequently tracked down CD's from many of the artists featured, it's Lenine who I keep coming back to. His sound is something totally unique; it's very much rooted in Brazil, but transcends musical and national boundries at the same time.

He is also unique in that his sound evolves by leaps and bounds with each release. One upshot of that is that in challenging himself, he constantly challenges his audience as well. Past releases have cannibalized elements of samba, folk, funk, metal, and practically anything else that can be thrown into the blender. He's close in spirit to the Tropicalistas, though his sound takes their experiments very much to the next level.

The disc is full of surprises from start ("O Atirador," penned by Lulu Santos) to finish (Lenine's own hit "Jack Soul Brasileiro," which has cropped up on a few releases). The arrangements vary greatly from their original versions, but they always gain something over the originals. "Hoje eu Queiro Sair So" has more in common with Daude's later cover version than with Lenine's own original; "O Homem Dos Olhos de Raio X" abandons the future funk of the Living Color-backed original in favor of something still looser and more old-school sounding; "A Medida da Paixao" features a haunting guest appearance by Richard Bona.

I could list more great qualities of the individual tracks, but really, you're better off hearing the disc on your own and discovering something new for yourself, whether you're an old fan or not. Incidentally, if you fall into the latter category (ie. you're new to the artist), I'd recommend starting here rather than with the Six Degrees-issued Best Of. It's a good collection, but it will end up being redundant if you decide that you like Lenine's music--you'll end up wanting the back catalog. And on the strength of this set, I think that's a very strong possibility.

On the other hand, if you're a long-time fan, the CD is essential to trace Lenine's evolution, and just might be an indication of where he's headed next.

bueno que se puede decir de paralamas para los que ha seguido su carrera por mas de 20 años es una recompensa este "acustico mtv" y para los que no bueno deben aprender que esta es la forma correcta de hacer un acustico " IMPECABLE " .
en general todas las canciones estan muy buenas pero la que mas me sorprendio fue "meu error" ,solo una cosa mas tambien esta la version en DVD asi que si eres un fan de paralamas compralo y si no tambien compralo !!!!

Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro y Joao Barone tienen una inmensa trayectoria musical, con mucha experiencia acumulada a lo largo de muchos años. Toda esa experiencia la demuestran en este disco.
La belleza de la música hecha por Paralamas tiene un premio especial es este acústico de MTV. Si me hubieran preguntado si hubiera querido estar allí, les diría que hubiera dejado todo para ir a Brazil y escucharlos en vivo.
Me encanta la interpretación de la canción Qué pais é este del maestro Renato Russo (Aborto Elétrico y Legiao Urbana) y la canción Um amor, um lugar.
Altamente recomendado para los fanáticos de la música rock brasileña, que como yo, no se pierden ningún disco de ellos.
Estamos esperando el nuevo disco del grupo, luego de la milagrosa(y feliz!) recuperación de Herbert.

I grew up listening to Rita Lee.Me and Rita go way back.Back when her original "rock"band , the Tutti Frutti was then a hit among us kids.In general terms, I liked the CD, but like an old soccer player thar was once a great entretainer, she too "lost a step or two".Seems like she is following a trend, when back on the day, she WAS the trend.The "Acustico" CD has everything I used to like about Rita Lee, but, in a way, it is like she gave up on us,old school friends, in order to reach a larger public, I guess that is Ok, but I don't have to like it.What happened to the simple guitar,bass and drum sets?I guess if I didn't know Rita Lee and this was the first time I ever heard her, I might have liked it, but knowing her the way I do (did),I feel she gave up on her (ours)roots, and that's very sad.

Not her best performance.......2007-05-01

It's been a long time we don't see something coming from Marina Lima and this CD is a little bit disappointment for her fans. Her voice is not the same even though she is singing her best musics. Lacking of a good voice is not acceptable that during the show she says something like: "- Man, I'm good!!" -- completly unnecessary. For those who like her songs and want to keep your "Acoustic MTV" series, you may not get too disappointed.
