This is music.!!!!.......2007-04-10
I have to say, this is a master piece.Miguel bose has recorded with a orchesta his better songs.Bose knows about fine music. However,I don't like the duet with Alejandro Fernandez.
Better songs:
"Levantate y olvida"
"Olvidame tu"
"De momento"
This cd is more valuable than the sale price.
His best yet.......2005-05-24
Ive been following Miguels carrer since I was 9 (38 now). My father being a good friend of the Dominguin-Bose family makes it even better. What a talented artist! I have noumerous of his albums, but with no doubt this is my favorite. It is all Miguel stands for. Innovative, passionate, always reinventing himself, and making you hold your breath till the end.
El sombrero me lo quito "Chapeau Miguel"
pleasant but nondescript.......2004-08-01
With a lavish production and lush arrangements, this is a smooth, pleasant recording, but with little substance, and like much music of recent vintage, I find it rather weak in melodic content.
Though born in Panama (of distinguished parentage, his father being the great bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguin), singer/actor Miguel Bose is considered a Spaniard and has been recording since 1977, becoming an international superstar with many hits in Latin America and Spain. Bose does not have a strong voice, but a whispery quality that he uses effectively.
There is little "Latin flavor" to this album, it is pure "pop", and other than being sung in Spanish, could have originated anywhere, with the exception of "Habana", which he sings with the fabulous Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez, who sounds wonderful, and makes this perhaps the most memorable track on the CD. Bose co-wrote "De Momento No" with Jorge Fernandez Ojea, and "El Ilusionista" with Alejandro Sanz. The sound is sumptuous, and total playing time is 41'50.
The musicianship is top-notch, and much credit to what is good about this CD has to go to Chris Cameron, who co-produced with Bose, did many of the arrangements, and pushes this recording to a 4 star rating.
A nice but fairly forgettable collection of songs, that have been polished and presented well, make for a CD that will please, but not captivate the listener.
Snoozefest - save your money!.......2004-06-14
This CD nearly put me to sleep. I always have high expectations for Miguel Bose--and he seldom disappoints, but I feel he really let us down on this one. The non-stop, melancholic orchestral arrangements are beyond dull-and they're on every track! The one fun track is the duet with Alejandro Fernandez and even it is pretty mediocre. Thumbs down.
As if it were a movie soundtrack..........2004-06-11
The last album I bought from Bosé was Laberinto, which in my opinion was an amazing combination of radio friendly songs (La auto-radio canta) and deeply melancholic songs (Azul de Louie). His latest production, Por Vos Muero, is entirely melancholic. It seems to have been meant to be some kind of movie soundtrack, from beginning to end. One might think at first that he should have varied the style a bit, but then it might have also ruined the concept of the album. The music is not only beautiful but also haunting at times. It definitely could be placed up there with any great epic soundtrack. Some have said that the duet with Alejandro Fernández is the album's only flaw, I think it is a healthy break from the sometimes slow pace of the restof the songs. Overall, it is a great album with outstanding musical arrangements, but it seems to lack that certain magic that would generate interest from the public in general. Do not go by those who would call this a boring CD, it certainly isn't. It's just not music for the masses, I'd say. The pictures are really appropiate to the concept in general. I recommend playing this CD while going for a long drive on a cloudy and windy day.

Un nuevo sonido - A new sound.......2004-06-03

It is not a surprise for me the quality of this record, since Bose has always been a vanguardist and creative. Today, almost at 50, he brings us a greatly crafted album with almost synphonic arragements. Melancolic lyrics, exquisite arrangmente and a mix of various elements. It is impossible to Bose to sing this way without living his live ot his liking. He opens the record with a song by Sanz, and finishes in a grandiose way with 'Por vos muero,' the musicalization of a poem by Gracilaso de la Vega, and in between a few melodic surprises.
