For better or worse, Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel has done for stage musicals what Spielberg's Jaws did for fish stories, with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been paradoxically focused in scope, yet beefed up dynamically via the brawny presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This single disc version showcases all of Phantom's key songs (a deluxe, double-disc edition is also available), with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine. Original show orchestrator David Cullen has fashioned compelling new contemporary arrangements to frame Webber's songs -- which now conclude with the lilting, upbeat new ballad he wrote for the film, "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver. --Jerry McCulley

The CD was in perfect condition and I am enjoying it very much. It was delivered in a very timely manner and the price was good. Thanks amazon!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect music!.......2007-06-11

The Phantom of the Opera is my favorie musical of all time, simply put. The movie is absolutely incredible, so I just had to have the soundtrack. Though this one-disc version leaves out many excellent pieces, it still has the bulk of the music.
First of all, let me just say that Emmy Rossum (Christine) sounds MUCH more elegant and true than Sarah Brightman (who overpronounces to the point of absurdity) in the classic London Cast recording of the musical.
Second of all, Gerard Butler may not be as operatic as Michael Crawford, but he is a much better actor, and the simple sound of his voice IS the Phantom. "Music of the Night" is so beautiful when he sings it, unlike Michael Crawford's mockery of the piece as he tries to sing those bass notes and just ends up mushing it all together into a horrible, overpronounced, over-legato MESS!
Now, Patrick Wilson! He has such a wonderful voice it just makes me faint! Wow! He is, I swear, the greatest tenor alive. Anyone who criticizes his beautiful performance of Raoul is simply insane.
This soundtrack has some utterly perfect music, such as
1. Gerard's incredible performance of "Music of the Night." He sings so beautifully at the end with that last "night" that one can scarcely believe it.
2. "Down Once More," the final scene of the movie can produce tears even without images on a screen. Hearing the three characters' voices together is sheer perfection!
3. "All I Ask of You" has wonderful emotion on all fronts, and Rossum and Wilson blend together into pure love. Bravo! Brava! Bravi!
4. "All I Ask of You (Reprise)"... It is so truly heartbreaking that I can never stop crying. "You will curse the day you did not do... all that the Phantom asked of you!" It has such a blend of emotion that one can only sit and listen, in bliss and awe.
This soundtrack, though missing some songs (get the two-disc set if you want them all), is basically perfect. I will love this music and these wonderful singers forever.

I absolutely love this soundtrack! Even better, my children do too!
I plan to buy the movie in the near future. I highly recommend this soundtrack if you loved the movie.

It's fair to assume that if you're a Seal fan, you prefer your pop shot through with substance. Using that as a guiding principle, you'll want to glide right into Best: 1991-2004 where you will encounter, throughout two discs and 27 songs, scarcely a second of musical fluff. All the expected goosebump-raisers come on disc one--"Don't Cry" follows "Prayer for the Dying" follows "Kiss from a Rose" follows "Crazy"--and they're interspersed with deeper cuts from Seal IV such as "Get It Together" and "Loves Divine" as well as a couple of covers that, in a lesser vocalist's hands, might have been catastrophic. Seal plays it subtle and sweet and Burt Bacharach's "Walk on By," sidestepping any instinct to belt, and the help he gets from Mikey Dread on Echo & the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar" settles the song into a snazzified reggae-pop celebration. (Also included is Seal's soaring cover of Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle," which proved his prowess as a cover artist with its chart success). Though "best" collections aren't normally upheld for their surprise elements--nobody likes a package that challenges with armloads of new stuff--disc two pulls off a neat stunt. It's a complete acoustic album, again encompassing the major radio hits but stretching to include tracks like the impossibly tender "Touch" and the meltingly gorgeous "Colour." Their unplugged presentation, with the artist on guitar, sets an up-close-and-personal tone that suits Seal. More to the point, it suits his fans, who'll take all the intimacy with the singer-slash-heartthrob they can get. --Tammy La Gorce

Album Description

Multiplatinum selling, Grammy winning, critically acclaimed Seal unveils his first greatest hits collection with Seal Best 1991-2004. But there's even more-along with the single-CD edition, with original album versions of 12 of his hits and best-loved tracks plus a cover song newly recorded by Seal ("Walk on By"), a double-CD package adds a disc of newly recorded acoustic versions of nine of those cuts (and four others). For fans of the pop, dance, urban and adult contemporary, Seal Best 1991-2004 is the quintessential Seal experience.

I'm usually buy only R&B, but I decided to try a different type of an artist. I love listening to Seal! His style is cool, unique and very sexy. Definately a Seal fan!

5 out of 5 stars I love love love this guy! .......2007-03-16

This album is one I can play over and over and not get tired of. His music is fun, inspirational, romantic and just beautiful. Highly recommended for those who just want to relax and comtemplate things with a nice sound in background, or turned up loud, it makes you smile and want to dance.

5 out of 5 stars Seal it with a Kiss.......2007-03-11

Nobody does it better. All of Seal's greatest hits in ONE CD. Does it get any better than that?

4 out of 5 stars "Greatest Hits" album could have been "greater".......2007-03-08

I would consider myself among the top 31 (arbitrary number, of course) Seal fans in the known world, and this greatest hits album is dynamic because it's Seal, but could have been better with a few missing songs. "Newborn Friend" is a lesser known hit to those who may not be as well-versed in Seal, and it definitely should have been included. It's one of his finest works and a far cry from "Kiss from a Rose" or "Crazy", his two most well-known hits. Also, a track or two extra from "Human Beings" would have been nice. I'm not sure why Seal seems hell bent on ignoring this album, which I still prefer over Seal IV, for some reason. He doesn't even seem to perform off of it much in concert. I could have done without "Lips Like Sugar", too. It just seems like filler. For what it's worth, though, the acoustic album that comes with the special edition of the greatest hits disc is stellar and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Now how about Seal V?

5 out of 5 stars essential seal.......2007-02-06

if you like Seal, this is a great compilation to add to your collection. always relaxing yet refreshing, I listen to this CD along with music by Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Phil Collins & Peter Gabriel for a nice afternoon of relaxation with my MMOs or RPGs like Sims2.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2007-01-10

This is a great CD that contains all of their hits. Hard to review because it's all pre-released music.

4 out of 5 stars Guess I like their newer stuff better.......2006-08-10

The newer music on the CD I liked much better than the older stuff. I should have just bought the CD that most of the newer songs were on. I actually had that tape and loved it but now have CD player in the car and thought if I liked that album I should like their other music too. But overall its not a waste like some best hits CDs out there.

4 out of 5 stars One of the best collections EVER, and that's CLEAR........2005-04-05

Unlike some other people, I find this "Best Of" to be perfect. Mostly because I always liked them when I heard them, but not enough to buy an album, so "Ten Years Gone" was made for me. This is also packed full of 21 songs, the more popular ones being "Wonderful", "Santa Monica", "AM Radio", and "I Will Buy You A New Life". Plus the excellent "Father Of Mine", which unfortunately many relate to, and 2 good covers of "The Boys Are Back In Town" and "Brown Eyed Girl". Most of what I didn't know I like now also. This collection should easily please most, but it probably won't be "Everything To Everyone".

1 out of 5 stars An Everclear Fan Who refuses to buy this Album.......2005-02-25

A Friend of mine bought this album and I listened to it. This compilation is a serious shortchange to Everclear's fans, and saddest of all, to themselves. Alexakis and Co. have seriously mislead themselves in almost all ways since Thier 2000 release of 'Songs from an American Movie: Part 1' For starters, what in the hell kind of title is that? It's lame, that's what. I only found two, maybe three songs on that album that I could keep listening to. I only bought 'Vol 2' to say that, yes, I owned all of their albums. I don't think there is one good song on Vol 2, especially when you line it up with anything they produced up until 1998. All songs on that album either consist of pathetic, blind rage, or pathetic, dithering, trivial matters. It is a long shot from their introspective, clever disapointment and sorrow that still somehow carries a touch of sunshine and hope, everclears trademarks.
I would have really liked to have seen some of their fantastic, less well known songs on this album like 'Sunflowers,' 'Amphetamine,' or 'White Men in Black Suits' off of 'So Much for the Afterglow', by far Everlears best album. Their inclusion of less well known songs from 'Sparkle and Fade' is good, but they really shortchange themselves on what they wrote during their early days on 'World of Noise'
Eveclear, I hope, is starting to show some hope. I believe that they have seen their last two albums for the failures that they are. Their sound has become extremely weak and uninspired, their lyrics a far cry from the smack-you-in the face stuff that they used to write. The only glimmer of hope I saw on their latest release, 'Slow-Motion Daydream' was 'Crysanthemum,' which heralds a very pure and stripped-away quality of acuoustic guitar, blended ever so slightly with effective sound effects of blowing wind and haunting lyrics. 'New York Times' is half way good, but is nothing that stands up above anything else that any unpublished poet or musician wrote to express their feelings in a post 9/11 world.
10 Years are definetly gone, and the last 4 of them are WAY gone. i hope you get your rear in gear Art. You've done it before, now do it again. I know '20 Years Gone' can be a much better shot.

5 out of 5 stars Everclear's Best Of is a great CD for anyone to own........2005-01-12

Everclear's Best Of is a great CD for anyone to own.

This is a great Everclear best of CD. I am glad there are 21 songs and that it is almost 80 minutes long. There are 2 b-sides on here called Local God (from the Romeo And Juliet soundtrack) and The Boys Are Back In Town (a Thin Lizzy cover that was originally a hit off of the Detroit Rock City soundtrack). There are also 2 new songs on here that were originally recorded during Everclear's recording sessions for their previous CD Slow Motion Daydream. The new songs are called Sex With A Movie Star (The Good Witch Gone Bad) and The New Disease.

The songs and what I think of them is the following:

#01. Wonderful - This is a great pop sounding song from them. It is a big hit too. This is a great song to listen to when you are in a good mood. Even though the lyrics sound happy, they are not.

#02. Santa Monica - This is a great rock song from them with a great beat and great words. This is this first big hit and the song that made them famous.

#03. Everything To Everyone - This is another good rock song that was a big hit. This was followed by other hit songs that broke them into the mainstream music concious.

#04. AM Radio - This is another big hit with a 70's feel to it. It surprised me by how popular it became. This is not a favorite of mine off of here, but I like it. It is a necessity for this CD.

#05. Volvo Driving Soccer Mom - I like this song a lot. It was a hit but not a big one. This song did not help their CD Slow Motion Daydream sell well because not many people liked this song I guess or that album.

#06. I Will Buy You A New Life - This song was a huge hit. I think it was either this song, Santa Monica, Father Of Mine, or Wonderful that was their biggest hit. This is the song that broke them into the mainstream music concious and made them a household name. If you didn't know Everclear from their song Santa Monica off their CD Sparkle And Fade, you now did because of this song off their CD So Much For The Afterglow.

#07. Learning How To Smile - I don't remember this song being a hit. But it is another kind of pop song from them. It is not as good as Wonderful in my opinion. Both these songs can be found off of their CD Songs From An American Movie, Vol. One: Learning How To Smile, which is their most pop sounding CD.

#08. Strawberry - This song was a small hit. It is a slower song, but I like it and the acoustic guitar that you can hear throughout the whold thing. I like the words to this song and how well they go with the music.

#09. Local God - This song was a hit in Austraila. I am not sure if it was here in the U.S.A. But it sure sounds like it was, because it is a great sounding rock song and sounds like a big hit. This is the first b-side off this CD. It was originally on the Romeo And Juliet soundtrack. If it wasn't a big hit, then that is because it is a off a soundtrack and wasn't promoted right. This is a favorite Everclear song of mine.

#10. Summerland - This is another hit, not a big one or small one though. In the booklet for this CD Art Alexakis says about this song: Hands down... my favorite Everclear song of all time. This is a slow rock song. Not a favorite of mine, but I like it some.

#11. Fire Maple Song - This was not a hit. But if it was, it would have been their first one. This is the only song on this compilation CD off their first CD World Of Noise. This song is alright. It is growing on me. It is another slower rock song. I wish they included another song or two from their first CD on this compilation than some others included on here.

#12. When It All Goes Wrong Again - This is their first hit off of their CD Songs From An American Movie, Vol. Two: Good Time For A Bad Attitude, which is the more rocking of the two Songs From American Movie CDs. This is another rock song. I prefer their song Rock Star over this one. Both songs are on Good Time For A Bad Attitude.

#13. Father Of Mine (Radio Mix) - Father Of Mine was another huge hit from Everclear. This is the radio mix version, so if you have So Much For The Afterglow, this version may sound a little different to you. But it still sounds good. This is Art Alexakis's favorite version of this song. This is Everclear song has touched and helped more people than any other.

#14. The Boys Are Back In Town - This song was originally a hit off of the Detroit Rock City soundtrack. It is a cover of an old Thin Lizzy song. This is a good rock song. This song is the second b-side off of this CD. I like this song better than their cover of Brown Eyed Girl.

#15. Heroin Girl - This is a rock great song. This was a big hit and another one of my favorite Everclear songs. This is the fastest song off of this CD. It has great music and the lyrics are really cool. I love listening to this song. It is cool.

#16. Brown Eyed Girl - This is another hit song. This is a slow rock song. But that should be obvious since it is a cover of the Van Morrison classic. This is a good cover, but I prefer The Boys Are Back In Town over this one. But this is still good.

#17. Sex With A Movie Star (The Good Witch Gone Bad) - This is the first previously unreleased song off of this CD. This is a good rock song. It is not that hard but not that soft either. I like the words and the music to it.

#18. The New Disease - This is the second previosly unreleased song off of this CD. This is a good rock song. I am not sure if this song or Sex With A Movie Star (The Good Witch Gone Bad) were hits or not. I am not sure which one I like better. They are both good songs. I am glad that they are on here.

#19. The New York Times - This song is about hoping there is love and compassion in this post 9/11 world. 9/11 plus something tragic that happened to a poor soul in Everclear's hometown of Portland Oregon inspired Art Alexakis to write this. He wrote this hoping the world would stop hating and fearing, and start loving and being compassionate. This is a slow moving rock song. A definiate inclusion on this CD. I like this good hit song too.

#20. Song From An American Movie Pt. 1 - If any song doesn't deserve to be on this CD, it is this one. This is just a soft nice intro to a previous CD of theirs. They should have taken this song off and replaced it with the song One Hit Wonder off the CD So Much For The Afterglow. That would have been better.

#21. Rock Star - This is of course a rock song. I like this song a lot. It has great music and some cool lyrics that got misinterpreted by a lot of fans of the band. This is another hit song. This is a great way to end the CD. This is another favorite Everclear song of mine. It is a song I am sure you will like too. It is a loud fast and just excellent song of theirs.

So there you have it. 21 great songs from a great band. I am glad I got this CD. I recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like the band or already have all of their other CDs. Pick it up.

It is too bad though that Everclear is just done to one member now, Art Alexakis. But he promises another Everclear album later this year. I hope he makes a great one with some great musicians. Everclear is a good band and I hope they live on and on.

Just go out and pick up this CD and enjoy it as much as I do.

3 out of 5 stars Great band, but songs are all redone.......2007-07-20

I guess I need to learn how to burn my own greatest hits CD, because I had no idea that hardly any of these songs are the versions from the original albums. In fact, many of the songs on this CD are cut shorter. I guess people don't realize the difference, because everyone seems to give such high ratings. I think that The Living Daylights is a HOT song, but this version, which was in the movie, sucks compared to the version that's on their Stay On These Roads CD. I can't imagine why they couldn't use THAT version in the movie, and why they couldn't put the same version in this CD. When I buy a "greatest hits" CD, I usually get the original recordings, and if they're different versions, it is mentioned on the cover. I don't know if Headlines and Deadlines is the same, but I heard it is.

4 out of 5 stars took me back.......2007-01-10

I lost touch with the band, but this collection brought me back up to speed. I enjoyed them all.

4 out of 5 stars An A-Ha Moment!.......2007-01-04

It's a shame that A-Ha never fully realized their star potential with American audiences. Other then the still charming "Take On Me" and the follow-up "The Sun Always Shines On TV" from their "Hunting High And Low" debut, their chart success stateside never matched the band's international superstardom. Which means that - as far as American audiences are concerned - neither of their best-of's has been issued here. I actually picked my copy of this up while on vacation in London. It was well worth it.

A-Ha were far more than their pretty faces on the MTV videos. (But to be the band that could lay credit to the "Take On Me" - or even the lesser known "Cry Wolf" - video.) Seven studio albums and world-wide sales of more than 60-thousand albums certainly vindicates that point. What most of us Yanks missed was the frequently inventive pop-music this trio turned out. They were masters of the confectionary ballad, with songs like "Manhattan Skyline," "Velvet" and "Stay On These Roads" masterworks of melodrama.

In their later albums, A-Ha was finding conflict within their group and the albums began to reflect the turmoil. (The CD also contains an honest recollection of the band's history.) The synths began to take a lower profile and more live (and livelier) recording began to unfold. While A-Ha was still making some cutting edge pop, a song like "Minor Earth Major Sky" is particularly dark. There is even a relatively faithful version of the Everly Brothers' "Crying In The Rain."

And then there is the matter of that voice. Morten Harket had a falsetto that rivaled Freddie Mercury's and certainly influenced singers like The Darkness' Justin Hawkins. It hit that impossibly high note in "Take On Me" but could also add to the drama of the band's shot at a James Bond theme, "The Living Daylights." Obviously hoping Bond would do for them what "A View To A Kill" did for Duran Duran, A-ha rocks it in a cinematic way, and it could possibly be both Harket's best vocal and the most under appreciated of all the James Bond movie themes.

Which about sums up this collection. There is some of the finest pop you've never heard here, new wave of otherwise. Terrifically re-mastered for this CD, A-Ha "The Singles - 1984/2004" showcases an under appreciated band who created some perfectly realized music, even without the sun shining on them in the US. (Come on Rhino - we know you can do it.)

5 out of 5 stars overlooked band.......2006-11-15

Boy, I forgot about this band. What a treat to find them again. Great compilation of songs for those that don't want to purchase all their CD's. Great gift for that 80's lover, as well.

4 out of 5 stars 'The Sun Always Shines on POP music'.......2006-06-20

A-Ha burst onto our CD players in the early 80's with the infectious 'Take On Me' and the very MTV-friendly 'Music-Vid' that accompanied the track. Their first album spurned classic pop hits like 'Hunting High & Low' and 'The Sun Always Shines On TV'....and the scene was set. Typically, a band like this disappear after 3 albums but not A-Ha...They have matured and if you take time to discover, there is a lot more to them than pretty-boys & 3 minute pop tunes..Their later albums 'Lifelines', 'Analogue' and 'Minor Earth, Major Sky' prove that they are fine musicians that can produce finely crafted songs...ok, there are one or two throwaway tracks like 'Touchy' and 'Cry Wolf', but on the whole, it is a good way to get to know A-Ha and these two mediocre tracks still have their place....enjoy the music, but don't analyse the lyrics...it is pop music after all, designed to entertain !!

Amo este show e amei o DVD. O detalhe da razão dos pingos d'água na capa é fantástico.
A banda é demais, o show foi ótimo e a produção do DVD idem.
O cd bônus é ótimo tb.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of energy!.......2007-06-28

This DVD is a really great introduction to the live Goo experience! They've put out some great songs over the years, but the albums can only give you so much. To really appreciate Goo you've got to see them live and if you can't get tickets, this is the next best thing. They've got a really great energy and despite the rain, they give their all to the show.

4 out of 5 stars These Guys Rock in the Best Way!.......2007-05-07

This is the kind of concert you want to sit back, get up, jump around and then sit back again...it rocks!

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE THE GOO GOO DOLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-01

OMG! I love these guys! They are so good! I mean so what? they changed record lables because they weren't getting nearly enough money from the success of "name". wouldn't you change? Thought so! i would think that if this collection was the original album versions instead of the live (which i actualy like better) versions, it would go platinum 32 times! If you wanna hear John say stuff like "oh [...] here we go" and "we're gonna keep going until this [...] stops", then listen to the cd, but if you wanna watch it with the hole family, watch the dvd. Oh nad also, if yo uever get the chance go to one of their concerts because there even better live!

5 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Goo Goo Dolls CD! **********.......2006-10-01

I really love this Cd/Dvd. It really is a kind of greatest hits cd for the Goo Goo Dolls. It contains many great songs such as "Slide", "Black Balloon", and "Iris", just to name a few. The songs range from slow tempo to mid tempo to fast, and the band sounds great live...Johnny Rzeznik's deep and soothing voice along with everyone's fine playing to great lyrics and melodies make this a very enjoyable listen/watch. If you own only one Goo Goo Dolls cd, this should be the one. You really do get a wide variety of songs that span many albums and years. Why don't you give a listen to the song sampler on this site and decide for yourself...

It's unfortunate that Terri Clark gained her highest chart debut with "Girls Lie Too," a hideously cartoonish song that perpetuates stereotypes about the sexes and, by its success, about country music fans. Clark, a Canadian tomboy in a rakish and attitudinal cowboy hat, has always played on her image as an independent female yearning for a relationship as strong as her personality. That worked well on a number of early songs, especially "Better Things to Do" and on the new "One of the Guys." But clearly she's yearned to expand her subject matter, and in recording songs co-written with Kim Richey, Beth Nielsen Chapman, and Mary Chapin Carpenter (a live version of their "No Fear" appears here), she nurtured the questioning side of her inner singer-songwriter. Clark has never really fit any kind of niche, and one suspects she's now caught between trying to stay alive commercially and satisfying herself as an artist. Greatest Hits is a colorful road map to the first 10 years of her journey, even as she seems to be doubling back on certain stretches of that highway. --Alanna Nash

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Kickin Canadian Country.......2007-06-13

This album is an excellent compiliation of Terri Clark tunes. This is excellent mainstream country. First off, Terri has a voice with an accent and has also a kind of rough [but not at all in a bad way] quality that is perfect for this kind of music. The instruments play country music but with a rockish edge at times when needed. Lots of good songs. Here they are:

Better Things to Do - a sassy tune telling a guy that she is over him and moved on

When Boy Meets Girl - a boy is about to discover love

Poor Poor Pitiful Me - good Terri take on the Zevon tune

Emotional Girl - good, fast. The singer tells a guy to realize she's got passion and he better be ready to handle it.

You're Easy on the Eyes - kinda gritty and a bit randy. The singer is physically attracted to a hot guy but is remembering that he is trouble otherwise.

Little Gasoline - singer is driving away from some junk in her past and is enjoying freedom.

I Wanna Do It All - uptempo number about living life full bore

Girls Lie Too - Once the listener accepts that this song is not meant to be taken seriously, then it's humorous. It's about women also making excusing and massaging guys' egos with little white lies at times. Not sexist, just joshing.

One of the Guys - singer isn't a pretty, fragile thing. She can hang out with the boys and do the "rough stuff" too.

Very good compilation album of contemporary female country. It helped me get into listening to more country in addtion to the rock and pop I glomed onto as a kid.

4 out of 5 stars A Decade of Terri Clark.......2006-07-28

Terri Clark is a four-time winner of Canadian country music's prestigious "Entertainer of the Year" award. Greatest Hits 1994-2004 is a retrospective of Terri's career and includes 14 of her biggest hits, making this a great album for any fan of country music. From the first song, "Better Things To Do," to the last, "No Fear," listening to this album is like following Clark along on her journey from her early start to the top of the country music charts.

5 out of 5 stars Guts, beauty, a cowgirl hat, and pure Raw talent!!.......2006-04-26

Terri Clark deffinately showed NO FEAR when it came to putting this cd together. Terri untimately shows that she can hang with ONE OF THE GUYS, with her tomboyish looks, and her guitar slinging, her sexy cowgirl hat that truely makes her EASY ON THE EYES! EVERTYIME I CRY, the heavy- hitting domestic violence song, Shows Terri's passion for womans rights. EMOTIONAL GIRL shows that Terri can be sensitive, as well as getting on with her life in BETTER THINGS TO DO, without saying POOR POOR PITIFUL ME (penned by the late/great Warren Zevon, also remade by the beautiful and talented Linda Ronstadt) shhhh, don't tell, Terri's version was much better. NOW THAT I FOUND this cd, I find that GIRLS LIE TOO, really? THAT I WANNA DO IT ALL, and I JUST WANNA BE MAD for a while. It didn't take A LITTLE GASOLINE, but alot of time and effort from Terri for each one of these beautifully presented songs. So IF I WERE YOU, I'd buy this cd. Before the next BOY MEETS GIRL.

5 out of 5 stars Terri Clark Greatest Hits 1994 to 2004.......2005-07-25

I saw her in concert last month, great show! I had to have her CD and it is just fantastic! Real country music at its best!! I highly recommend this CD if you like country music.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-07-16

This Is A Great CD for any fan of country music. Terri Is easily one of the best modern country singers and if you have not listened to her then this CD is a good introduction.

5 out of 5 stars Virgin must be losing it's touch.......2007-03-29

After listening to this album (over and over), I can't believe that How We Operate was the first time I'd ever heard them on the radio. I hope they go back to producing their own work- Gil Norton is brilliant, but so is Gomez. Now that they have broken through, I'd love to hear more of their layered work. It's wonderful how good this sounds with earphones on and no distractions.

5 out of 5 stars best compilation I've ever heard.......2006-11-09

I've been a Gomez fan since 2002. I heard "Shot Shot" on Radio Paradise, and I was instantly hooked. I loved the sax, the drums, the vocals, the funky stops and starts, the electronic feel, everything. I vowed to buy In Our Gun. Then, same radio station, different day, I heard "Rex Kramer", with its cool harmonica and guttural growl of a voice, and was convinced I'd discovered another amazingly cool band. Turns out that not only was that also Gomez, but it was on the same CD as "Shot Shot"! I went right out and bought In Our Gun that day. I was an instant fan, and have been ever since. True story. Another true story is what happened the day I gave Five Men in a Hut a listen. I was facing the laborious and boring task of putting away a couple cord of wood. It was going to take me a few hours, filling a cart, lugging it up a hill, stacking it in a shed. Luckily, I checked my mailbox and realized I had just received my copy of Five Men in a Hut via Amazon. I dug out my CD player (yes, no iPod, not yet) and actually ran to the store for some batteries. I popped in Five Men in a Hut to while away the hours. Oh. My. God. I was absolutely blown away. I love this band even more now, if that's possible. I think this album is so brilliant to me because I've only been a fan of their recent work, and their earlier canon has eluded me almost entirely. Not including their live album, I had heard only six of the studio tracks on this compilation. I had a lot of catching up to do. And what a treat that was! The best thing about the band is how many different styles they touch, while still sounding like Gomez. They skew rock, blues, electronica, psychedelia, and whatever strikes their fancy into their own brand of utterly cool music. What kind of music do you like? You'll like Gomez. Plain and simple. A few things struck me while listening, and dancing, and singing at the top of my voice as I put wood away. First, this does not even cover their whole catalog. Not to say it doesn't do them justice, because I think it does. It's a wonderful mix of their material, which sounds great together. Even their latest stuff, which I also love, and shows a similar songwriting formula at work, while reaching a maturity and consistency not realized on their early work, would sound great with all their older stuff. I can't wait for the career-spanner. Secondly, I love Ian and Tom's songs, but I thought I liked Ben's voice the best. Now I'm not sure. I love them all. In fact, some of Tom's song's are my favorites, and I never realized it. This band is truly amazing. They made my day of wood-stacking go by fast, and at the same time, garnered a fan for life. As the second disc ended, one of the newer tracks brought things to a close, "Diskoloadout". It brought back the same kind of funky horns and cool beat that made me love "Shot Shot" so much. I got the same adrenaline rush I did the first time I heard the band, and realized I had fallen for them all over again. Cheers, gentlemen. Can't wait to see what's next!

5 out of 5 stars Buy it , burn it, and send copies to everyone you know. . ........2006-10-24

. . .and while you're at it get all of Gomez' stuff. Jesus they are one truly amazing band--three kickass vocalists, Ben Ottewell, Tom Gray and Ian Ball, who all play wonderfully quirky guitar to great effect, and then there's exceptional bass by Paul Blackburn and drums by Ollie Peacock. Their lyrics and arrangements are almost surreal, evoking a transplendent quality that points up their Beatles/Stones/Kinks/Who influences, while at the same time somehow establishing their sound as totally original. That they are not megastars is not only a true shame but it is also a sad commentary on what I think is the abysmal state of radio and the music industry in general.

4 out of 5 stars Like a box of chocolates..........2005-04-22

The WOW series is great for people who want to have a wide sampling of what Christian music has to offer. There are some great songs on this album, and be warned - you will probably be running out to buy some more albums of the artists included here (especially Jeremy Camp). Also, check out the songs of Recent Rainfall which used to be in the Amazon free downloads section. You can now find them on www.recentrainfall.com Keep on praising and worshiping the King of Kings!

4 out of 5 stars Another Blessing WOW'd Upon Us.......2004-07-27

WOW chose some really great artists for this two disk set. I preferred disk one, but both disks had praise that filled my spirit with God's love and kindness. I've seen several of these artists in concert and I was reminded of how powerful God's spirt can touch my soul when I dedicate some time and receive what God has blessed them with. All the lyrics are included with the CD and I enjoyed reading them as I listened. Maybe not quite as good as their yellow disk, but very comparable.

4 out of 5 stars Good worship compilation!.......2004-04-29

    REVISED review as of 05/03/2004...

This compilation, full of heart-warming praise and worship, deserves a higher rating than initially given especially after listening and enjoying both CDs during my quiet time. While playing in the background, it help set the mood in refocusing my thoughts as I went over CLASS 201 notes.

We are so undeserving of His love, yet He is so giving and forgiving.

I now listen to it over and over again.

To my surprise during yesterday's service in the Overdrive venue @ Saddleback, they played my favorites and I knew all the lyrics thx to this compilation which unknowingly prepared me. 8-)

Great compilation for your audio library!

I like the various artists and styles of worship. This may rate higher in time as it usually takes a while for the different songs/styles to soak in. Although I do have my favs. ;-)
