Good sound quality - avoid if you have a wireless network.......2007-06-22

I have used a wireless telephone with headset, such as this, for more than 10 years. The GE units have worked well but don't hold up for very long.
This was my first Plantronics unit. Very well built with good sound quality but with a major flaw: It drops the wireless computer network everytime that I answer a call or turn it on. Yes, you can press the channel button and find a new channel, but by the time that you realize that you have a conflict, all internet connections have been lost and need to be re-established. For some reason it appears that it defaults back to the same channel each time that it is turned off, so when the next call comes in, down goes the network. Sorry, but this one is going back after 1/2 day use.

I really like this telephone. I use it daily as I work on the phone from home. There is only one downfall. I rely on the MUTE function quite heavily. However, this telephone's mute feature takes a few seconds to activate. You have to hold down on the button for a few seconds. That is a real problem when I need to quickly mute the noise (children) behind me.

Works great. Reception is very clear. Only caveats are that there's no battery indicator other than an audible warning when you're about to run out of power, and that this will interfere with wireless networks using the 802.11g protocol.

Thought this worked well, has a little static every now and then and once in a great while the channel will be the same as my wireless and cause a problem. All you need to do is change the channel on the phone and your wireless will start working again. I like the phone the freedom it provides is great.

This phone has great potential, but falls short for me.......2007-06-19

I office out of my house and have always struggled to find a good, reasonably priced on-ear headset for my office line. Because of the built-in wireless headset, this system looked like exactly what I needed. I have been using the headset for about 8 months and the voice quality is good. I bought this system for the over ear headset. When I took it out of the box, I immediately noticed that the earloop is seemed very flimsy/cheap. Sure enough it broke within a month of use. The online store where I bought it was nice enough to replace the entire unit. However, the next loop broke in 45 days (and I was being VERY careful with it). The problem may be that the ear piece is somewhat heavy. After all, it does have a battery and phone built-in.

The bad news is that they do not make replacement parts for this unit and it is unusable for me in its current state. I cannot recommend a product that the manufacturer does not stand behind.

I am very pleased with this product, however, the only negative I would say about it is that you can be checking your messages on the answering machine and if someone calls in, it stops you from hearing you messages. Other than this, I really like the phones.

This phone was disappointing. I am packing it up to return it. I guess some of this has to do with the lag in the landline phones behind the cell phones. This phone is so slow to register your input that I end up repeating the number over and over. The redial only stores one number at a time. The ringer can only be set to off, low, high. The tone of the ringer is annoying. The base unit isn't easy to read as you sit, and when the hand set is in the cradle you can't read it either. It's really not easy to read when you walk by either. You have to be in just the right spot. I bought it on sale for $45 that is still too high.

I have 4 of these phones, all have failed within 14 months of purchase. They all seam to have lost communication with their base. No signal to or from headset. Replaced all 4 with Panasonic phones with great results.
Also, the IBM 3455 has very low maximum volume, sound not amplified enough to hear clearly even on the highest setting. all 4 phones were identical.
Found no support so far from IBM online so far as far as any recalls or known repairs. I guess they are bound for the trash.

We've had this phone for about six months now. I dread using it. I'll walk clear across the house to pick up another phone even if this phone is directly in front of me. Clarity on this phone is non-existent. If I am forced to use this phone, I can barely hear the caller, even on the highest volume setting; I always end up screaming at the caller to speak up, then they hang up on me. I have the same problems every time I use this phone. I HATE IT.

Reception is very good. I had no problems with call waiting & caller ID. However, you cannot edit the phone book. If you want to change a stored number, you have to delete it then reenter all the information. But for a basic caller ID display phone with good reception, which is what I wanted, I'm happy--especially since I got the phone from a discounter.

Expected more from IBM........2002-06-17

There is no way to turn off auto-answer. If the phone is in the cradle when it rings, you have to pick it up to see the caller ID. When you pick it up, it answers the phone automatically making caller ID useless.

Sound quality, both receiving and sending is very poor. Makes me think I am using a cheap cell phone. Have used $9 phones that sounded better.

I've had multiple cordless phones over the years, and this has turned out to be by far the best at the best price. Most of my other phones didn't have sufficient volume control for me to hear the caller on the other end. The clarity of this phone is great. I have also found the headset volume and clarity to be good as well. You must read the directions and make sure you do not place it near other electronic equipment, especially a microwave. It is susceptible to interference (as was every other cell phone I've had). Once I moved it, it has performed fabulously. It is light and very easy to program and add numbers. It is also very nice to be able to block ringing of unavailable and private calls.

Product is very bulky and heavy. It surprised me that it came with it's own belt holster until I noticed it just wasn't something you could comfortably leave on.

The speaker on this unit was great as it was always loud enough. However, the other party could not hear me if there was ANY background noise. This unit is equipped with DSP technology that actually cancels out the background noise (and does so quite well), but it also made my voice not understandable to the people I was talking to. The could hear that I was saying words, but my voice was modified so much I was told I sounded like a robot to multiple people. I even tried downloading the update software in hopes it would help, it did not.

Another problem is that inbound calls always had the international country code added to it, so if I used the caller ID function to call a number, it wouldn't work as the cell phone didn't know whey that + was in front of the number.

Is was going to exchange my original model with another to see if my unit was faulty. When I took it out of the holster to put in in the box for shipping, the ear piece broke. That was the final straw.

I sent the item back and got the Jabra KX-10. Completely opposite. I cannot even feel it is on. There is no caller ID (I hardly miss that) and the speaker is not quite as loud. At least people can here me know.

Wireless Bluetooth Headset.......2007-05-06

The Jabra BT 800 has excellent sound quality, both for the listener and the user but, it is a large and bulky item that has difficulty staying firmly on the ear. So, when I am not using the phone, I usually take off the ear piece and drop it in my purse. It also has connectivity issues. It does not easily connect and disconnect with the phone. It would be much easier to use if the system had an on and off key which would allow the head piece to perform in this manner. It is a pain to go searching through my purse for my ear piece and I miss most calls. This would be eliminated with a simple on/off switch that would automitacally reconnect with the phone when placed in the on position.

Practical but needs updating........2007-02-15

I bought this product over a year ago and it served me well until the LCD screen cracked, and is now basically an oversized "regular" bluetooth headset. To my knowledge this is the only LCD bluetooth heaset on the market. The caller ID and vibrate options are great. Often times I would place the phone near a window (when I had bad reception) and keep the headset with me and still see what number was calling.

Occasionally there was an echo and I usually got complaints if I used it anywhere other than my car or indoors with no background noise. I agree wiith the volume comments and comfort, it needs to be louder with a more comfortable ear piece. The "earhook" WILL break under normal use, be sure to call Jabra before your year is up and they will send new ones for no charge. If there is a protection plan available, I'd purchase it.

A little quite, and the ear hook keeps breaking.......2007-01-28

It's actually been an good device from people hearing me standpoint. I feel that the speaker is a little quite (especially when others are on speaker phone on the other side.

My main complaint has been that the ear hooks seem to only last me about 3 months. I only have it on my ear when I'm using it, so maybe its repetitive stress or something on the plastic joint. Positive side is the vendor has been good to get new one's out to me, but now I'm on month 13 so we'll see how much they want for them.

Jbra BT800.......2007-01-13

Prior to purchasing the jabra BT800 I had no exsperiance with blue tooth headphones. I vetted the product by searching & viewing all reviews I could find on the web. All reviews rated it highly. I have found the product to not perform as exspected as to the ability of others to clearly hear what I am saying. I am told by those at the receiving end of my call that it is aggravating to listen for any length of time because of the poor voice quality. I was led to believe that this product would produce good voice transmition even if there was some back ground noise. I now know that this is not true.

Weak Reception.......2007-06-03

We are getting poor reception from only about 50 feet away from the base station. There is only glass in between so there is no obstruction to transmission. Before using the phone you must make sure that there is no water in the openings for the speaker and mic or you will sound like you're trying to talk underwater.

On the good side it IS very waterproof. The phone has taken several complete dunkings without any adverse effect.
