The JBL S312 is a 3-way, 12-inch floor-standing single loudspeaker with medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure and Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) wave guide. Technical specifications include a balanced and nearly full-range (35 to 20,000 Hz) frequency response, 8 ohms nominal impedance, 92 dB sensitivity, and 250-watt power handling. The 1-inch pure titanium tweeter and the 4-inch midrange transducer are mounted on a Linear Field Proximity (LFP) bezel that insures a seamless transition between the middle and high frequencies. The 12-inch PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) cone woofer is built on a cast aluminum frame, which reduces distortion and increases power-handling capability.

Shielded components allow distortion-free placement near video monitors. A high-temperature, oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScape motor structure allow these speakers to play all types of movies and music. A low-diffraction IsoPower baffle directs the sound power into the room, reducing any distortion caused by cabinet vibration. The computer-designed enclosure requires no bracing. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. As is true with all JBL Studio Series loudspeakers, the JBL S312 speakers are equipped with all-metal, five-way, gold-plated binding-post speaker terminals. This model comes in black ash and includes a two-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker enclosure and a five-year parts and labor warranty on the speaker driver and internal components.

Good bass.Really good clarity.This is one of a few speakers that has a 12" bass driver.exelent sound if combined with a good AV reciever.Be carefull...you might get drunk on them. read the reviews on this speaker is REALLY GOOD SPEAKER FOR THE MONEY IF YOU LUCKY TO GET ONE AROUND.

Unlike its little brother, the JBL S310, which is a great speaker, JBL really turned it up a level producing the high-quality, d.j.PROFESSIONAL JBL S312BE STUDIO SERIES. THIS PUTS
OUT 250 WATTS, LIKE ITS YOUNGER BROTHER, BUT MADE THE BASS 2"
LARGER, ALL BUILT WITHIN A CABINET THAT STAYS STILL AT PEAK LEVELS OF PERFORMANCES! THE HIGHS, MIDRANGE, AND BASS JUST POUND OUT SUPERB QUALITY MUSIC. The price one would need to pay
for a comparable speaker, would be hundreds more, and gain very

little quality over these monsters! Serious about music and its quality? The JBL S312 STUDIO SERIES HAS IT ALL!

Speakers sounded clear with deep bass.Blew tweeter before first year was up ,have a relativly high powered system (within rec specs).After placing order 4 months ago I am still waiting for part from jbl.Owned several types of jbl's including L100Ts and s -412's and loved them all.FOLLOW UP-for do it your selfers when ordering a replacement part from jbl a copy of the reciept is needed.after misunderstanding on my part cleared up customer service was outstanding.

Great Speakers with plenty of power to spare!.......2003-01-24

Not only do I own a pair of these great speakers, but I also decided to build my home theater system around them. I have the S38's for surround, the S-Center speaker and not one but two PB12 subwoofers (I like a lot of bass)! Action, science fiction and horror movies are truly brought to life with these speakers. My CD collection has never sounded better. I have a Sony receiver rated at 120 watts per channel and so far I have not been able to turn it up even half way, that's how efficient these speakers are! So, if you want to rock the floors and walls, put a permanent smile on your face, and put a frown on your neighbors faces, check these speakers out, you will not be disappointed!

Loud & Clean.......2002-04-02

If you love music loud and clean, you need to audition these. I have listened to many speakers in my time and, in my opinion, you would be hardpressed to find a better performer for the money. I listen to a variety of types of music and I'm never disappointed in these speakers. Played through a 50wpc tube amp and coupled with a PSW 12 sub, the sound is so good that I hear things on my CD's I haven't heard before. And my old speakers are on the famous Stereophile Recommended Components list. I did notice that a bookshelf speaker in this Studio Series is already recommended by Stereophile as well, so that should be an indication that this is a serious speaker. Do not confuse this series with some others in the JBL line. The Studio Series is for real.
