Amazon.com Product Description
Smaller than its predecessor by a third, JVC's compact, PDA-styled KT-SR2000 Plug 'n' Play (PnP) Sirius Satellite Radio receiver brings a wealth of music and news programming to your car and/or home audio system in a device that's as easy to use as it is to transport. The PnP receiver offers accessible buttons and a large, bright LCD with multiple options for enhancing legibility. Artist names and song titles are presented in large type to enhance safety by minimizing distractions. Use of the receiver requires activation of a subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio ($12.95 per month or a one-time fee of $499.99). You'll also need a car or home docking apparatus, sold separately.
The KT-SR2000 lets you enter a desired channel/stream number directly, or you can search for programming by scrolling through a list of channels or even a list of currently playing artists. For one-touch access, you can set up to 18 stream preferences, or presets, with the option to lock or unlock a given function. For example, you can store a list of preferred categories and stations without fear of alteration until you decide it's time for a change.
Memory Capture stores 20 favorite songs in the form of PDTs (Program Definition Text, with artist name and song title), and, when activated, the unit's S-Seek feature will search all incoming streams for those songs.
Time-based functions include an alarm, a sleep timer, and program alert, which switches the KT-SR2000 to a preprogrammed stream at a selected time. The KT-SR2000 features an easy-to-read LCD with separate controls for brightness, contrast, and font. This model also features an ambient light sensor, which automatically adjusts the display brightness to suit your viewing conditions.

- JVC KS-K6013 home kit
- JVC KS-K6012 vehicle kit

Customer Reviews:
Bad Unit!!.......2007-02-02
This is the 2nd one of these I have had, and the 2nd one my husband has had. The first two we got for X-Mas 2004 and were returning them both to JVC by Nov 2005. JVC gave us a horrible time, but since it was under warranty, they replaced both of them.
Now, tonight, my light sensor per JVC has gone out and they won't replace it. I can ship it to them and they will look at it for $65 and then diagnose it. Well.. the lady told me over the phone what the problem was. Then she said they will charge me to fix it, then ship it back.
WHAT??? I don't even know what to do. She suggested calling Circuit City or Best Buy for repair... both of them say NO WAY!!
Well....not such good luck.
When this unit works.. it is great... but we have had 4... and issues with all them..
Good luck!
Great when it works.......2007-01-07
Very convenient to move this unit between the car and the boombox. However the FM modulator would not work at all in our new 4Runner, even with a simple antenna added to it. We use a cassette adapter -- it degrades the sound quality somewhat. If we had it installed again, we'd buy and install the adapter needed to connect the FM modulator output to our FM radio's antenna cable.
The red display began to be intermittent before it was a year old, now it completely out (15 months old) and is going back to JVC. Hopefully they'll give us a refurbished unit in exchange.
Not great.......2006-12-07
I've had this unit for a year and during that time, I've experienced the following:
-Hissing no matter which FM station is chosen
-Alert feature doesn't appear to work properly. Many times I am not alerted to the songs I have saved in my favorites. I'll turn the station and there's a song I have saved, but wasn't alerted.
-The lighted display crapped out this weekend. It's dark.
I am a Mom and don't ever remove this from my car. I rarely touch the unit and opt instead to use the remote. So the wear on it is minimal. It was a poor purchase at best.
Dated design, better units available.......2006-10-31
I purchased one of these when new back in 2004. The unit has worked ok for me, with the main quirk being about once every hour or two, I go through a 3 - 5 minute period of bad reception, presumably as it shifts from one satelite to another. I was unable to utilize the fm modulator as it was weak, but went to a hard wired connection to my radio using a cable purchased from Crutchfield.
My main issue with this unit is that there are newer units available for the same or slightly more money, which have replay options and better displays. I would consider those options before purchasing this unit.
It's a good little unit.......2006-06-08
I have two seperate units. One hardwired to my car, and the other is the JVC unit. I hooked it directly into the audio (aux) ports of my Radio, rather than use an fm station. It works great, the sound quality is excellent as well - (and my radio is so old it play's 8-tracks!!!!). I did notice that the unit tends to run a bit warm to hot. I agree with the previous reviews, that it is something that JVC needs to look into, perhaps it is simply a matter of a "heat sink-er" not being in specs, as yet, I have encountered no problems (having had the JVC unit for 1.5 years) No matter. As to the commercial free: Sirius (which I have had a subscription to for the past 4 years) has commercial free radio, though the news stations and a few others do have commercials. Those stations are clearly defined as being in the commercial block. The music stations are 100% free of commercial.
All in all a damn cheap price to pay for avoidance of all those really irritating DJ's, commerical's, and lack of variety in stations! ~Cheers!
