The Panasonic RR-US320 IC Recorder with USB Terminal for PC Link is one of the best digital recorders available on the market today. It provides very high quality, digital sound recording and output and up to 105 minutes of recording time. It gives you the complete freedom in managing your audio files. You can record up to 396 separate files/subjects in three recording modes, store them in 4 separate folders, instantly recall the necessary file or erase select memos or the whole folder. USB terminal and cable are provided for linking to a PC. Digital VAS (Voice Activation System) is included for convenient recording. This compact, lightweight voice recorder offers up to 105 minutes of recording and includes everything needed to download files to a PC, including a USB terminal and cable and Voice Editor 2 software (with file saving and mail attachment). You can even listen without a headphone, through the unit's built-in speaker.

The unit uses high-quality ADPCM (Adaptive Differential PCM) recording and offers three recording modes: high quality, standard play, long play. Along with a jack for an external microphone (not included) there's a built-in high-sensitivity condenser microphone. The display shows both the recording condition and the remaining memory.

With four folders and 99 files per folder, you'll have all necessary organizational tools at your fingertips. A file lock keeps recordings private. Other handy features include timer recording and playback, file intro scan, and slow and fast playback. The unit measures 4.25 by 2 by 0.6 inches and weighs 1.6 ounces (without battery).

I used this recorder for dissertation interviews. I had no problems with the sound quality on LP. I was able to download to a disc and transcribe. I even used a transcription service and they had not problems with the quality.

Don't Buy It!!.......2003-05-07

Panasonic should be embarrased for boasting 105 minutes in LP(long play) mode. The quality of the recording is beyond terrible. In HQ (high quality)the recording is terrific but you only have 15 minutes in total for all 4 folders. I am returning this after owning it for only 20 minutes.

Not enough recording time.......2002-12-07

As a singer, I need the highest quality recording. But using the high quality recording mode with this recorder gives you only 15 minutes of recording time! C'mon, I get much more time in the old-fashioned tape recorder and the quality for that is not that bad.

Clever but gimpy.......2002-10-14

Clever deveice easy to use; bought it for purpose of "taping" lectures at University, at 15 min mode sound play back was
good(standard speed)...however i was mislead, at 105 min sound quality was garbled garbage...old 8 track tape sound better with mold on it!
Format size excellent...ease of use was also excellent, however if taping more than 15 min. ( standard speed) look else where.
The product needs more memory to sustain 120 min's, plus of
memory to sustain quality of recording.
However to be useful, this product needs replaceable memory cards..one doesn't have the time to download to a computer with appropriate software to make this device useful.

Great Product.......2002-09-17

I previously used a microcassette recorder and this beats it hands down. The small size is truly amazing and once you get used to where the controls are, it's a breeze to operate. Sound quality is more than adequate at Standard and excellent at HQ. The computer hook up works flawlessly allowing me to save notes in digital form. I've even done direct connections with a cassette tape with very good results. It has a high and low mic adjustment and putting it on low cuts out a lot of the background noise. I would recommend this product very highly.
