Customer Reviews:
Some info for those of you using larger cards..........2007-04-01
Use SD cards only. The newer SD HC cards did not seem to work for me. Also, make sure your SD card is formatted using FAT and not FAT32. I just bought a 4 GB Transcend card and it came as FAT32. The player can only read from the FAT file system so I had to format the card before using it.
I love this player! Best money I ever spent. I'll update this review if I ever figure out a way to get it to work with SD HC cards.
Best All Around MP3 Player.......2007-01-24
For playing MP3's this is the best unit I have found. Sound quality is awesome! And even though I bought this unit (I bought one for my daughter as well) 2 years ago, it continues to impress me. Yes, the user interface isn't as flashy as an ipod, but it works and the unit is rugged. I love the fact that if the battery ever goes bad I don't have to send it in for service or throw it away, I just replace a standard AAA battery, normal or rechargable. Also, I just upgraded my unit to a 4GB SD card. It works great!! Now it holds over 80 hours of music. I haven't tried an 8GB SD Card but I wouldn't be surprised if it works as well.
My favorite features are:
1. Awesome sound quality!!
2. Rugged, lightweight unit, reliable!! (never had single problem with two differnt units purchased.
3. Not locked into a built-in proprietary battery that could go bad.
4. Expandable like crazy. Now using 4GB SD card and I can have multiple cards that hold more music preloaded if I want. It takes just about 30 seconds to swap SD cards.
Only downside is small display.
Creative Muvo Sport C100.......2006-05-14
Hey I've had this mp3 player for about a year and it works great. The Creative Muvo is super tough and work great if your out running or whatever. Even though it's water resistant they don't suggest dropping it in the water, but i've dropped it in a river once and it works just fine. This player is great if you have a small music collection but if you have a bunch of songs don't get it (even though you can put a lot of songs on it it doesn't have a scroll option) If your buying for the radio option don't buy it because i've found that the radio doesn't work very well and also the volume doesn't go very high.
2G SD card works.......2006-03-06
When I bought this unit, the label said it accepts 512M card. Then I saw some customers' comments that it accepts 1G card. I just bought a 2G SD card (...) and put it in--it works like a charm. So now I have a total memory of 2.25G, good for 40 hours of music!
How many times you see things work better than they are supposed to?!
Very Good with a Major Problem for Me.......2006-01-25
I purchased this MP3/FM player to use while I run outside. What I wanted was a player that had MP3, FM and a stopwatch and was weather proof. I don't like to wear a watch on my wrist while I run. I tried a Phillips player first, but the display was unreadable in sunlight and the battery only lasted 2 1/2 hours. It had a great feature though, push a button and the time on the stopwatch was announced.
After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, it looked like the C100 was going to be just right for me. And I have to agree with just about everything I've read. Good build quality, no problems with the SD cards I've used, sound quality is good, FM reception is good and no need to load the software.
The head phones are OK. Not real comfortable for me but good sound.
However there is one thing that is a Major Problem; at least for me. You can't control the MP3 player or the change the FM station while the stopwatch is running. Can't be done. If you are exercising and you come to a song you don't want to listen to, you have to stop the stopwatch, go to the menu and select Music or FM (whatever you are listening to) and then make the change. Then you go back to menu and select Stopwatch and restart the time. Not an easy thing to do with the player strapped to you arm. And now your time is off. I checked with Creative and they have no plans for a fix.
Now I know this isn't a problem for a lot of people (since no one mentioned it in any of the reviews I read) but for me it's enough to rate this otherwise five star player four stars.
