This iPod replaces a hard disk mp3 player of another brand. I'm new to the iPod brand, but I've found this model to live up to the hype. Sleek design, easy to use (even in converting my WMA library to iTunes), and good performance. So far I'm very glad I made the switch to the iPod product line.

Amazing Storage Capacity.......2007-06-27

This review is for those of you that have not yet made the I-iPod plunge. I was a bot late to the game myself on this one. My children, and their friends, really led the way on this. Now that I am finally all in, I cannot say enough about the various uses of the iPod, and its overall ease of use. In addition to being able to download the latest and greatest from iTunes, you can also put any of your own existing CD collection on your iPod. I personally take advantage of the many available books on CD. I have downloaded audio books from various sites on the Internet. In fact, I do not have an iPod/MP3 adaptor in my car, so I purchased a device that allows me to play my iPod via the radio. This really is an incredible device that is well-worth the price. To not have an iPod in today's day and age is a bit like not having a VCR or Microwave in the 80's. By the way, putting songs/books on your iPod is very intuitive. Once or twice will teach you how to do it. If you have a problem, just have a teenager give you a brief class. This is a 5 star product.

Getting started was a little difficult, but I finally managed to start downloading music and podcasts.
I was very disappointed that I cannot download eAudio books from Net Library because Apple does not offer the kind of copyright protection that libraries require. The library told me that they had repeatedfly tried to negotiate these features with Apple, but had no success.
The biggest disappointment, however, was that contrary to the iPod advertisements, you cannot sync calendars from Outlook. Outlook Contacts can be synced, but not calendars. I managed to find a support number at Apple, and they told me that although their manual gives very specific directions about how to sync Outlook Calendars, they do not support this feature....so, basically, you can't do it, and they don't care if the advertisements and the manual lie.

My acclaim for the Apple iPod 8gb.......2007-06-26

I owned an ipod mini but the battery life began to slack, and I didn't want to pay $50.00 to have it replaced when I could just purchase a new ipod. I knew I needed something new, but I also wanted to improve my ipod somehow. I decided to purchase the nano with twice as much room; I know I made the right decision. I own many CD's, and it was relatively easy to fill my 4 gigabyte mini up to capacity, but with this 8 gigabyte nano? It's not as simple. I enjoy being able to add two or three songs to my ipod everyday.

I'm impressed with this second generation iPod nano. The battery life is definitely wonderful; Apple boasts that the battery life is about 24 hours, and although I don't know how accurate that is, I do know that is lasts twice as long as my iPod mini. I picked up on a few improvements with the nano as well. When you have 1,000+ songs on your mp3 player, looking for one song can be tedious, however, iPod made this task easier by providing a transparent letter in the background to indicate which letter of the alphabet you are on. You can also search for your music by artist, genre, album, among other options.

Apple's come equipped with something that is very useful to me: the "hold" button. I can sometimes be careless and nonchalant with my gadgets, and my iPod may accidently turn on, but since iPod owners can switch to the "hold" button, I don't have that problem.

This new iPod is significantly smaller than the mini, which, for me, serves as a gift as well as a curse. The nano is so tiny that it can easily slip out of your hands, and it probably easy to misplace. Also, the only color the 8gb comes in is black, and because black is so common, it's easy for the nano to be camouflaged, which would make is even more difficult to locate if you were looking for it around the house. Also, where is the FM radio? The radio isn't a big deal to me, but if Apple really wanted to transcend this product, they would privilege buyers with this amenity.

This is the most popular mp3 player, and I see why. It's a great item to have if you exercise, if you are a lot of boring places, or if you like music to be at your fingertips all the time. I highly recommend it.

Perfect Product!.......2007-06-19

I have had my 8GB iPod for nearly a year. I was one of the first to purchase it last year when it first came out.

This product is perfect. You hardly ever have to charge it, it's durable (flash memory), and it is easy to use. If you've never used and iPod or iTunes, of course there is going to be a learning curve as with anything, but once you understand the general functions, you are set.

There is a reason Apple has a substantial market share over any other MP3, and that is because it is the best all around player available.

Apple, you've done it again! I've had this nano for a year and I couldn't be happier. It's a great ipod, but the battery life is a bit short.

I've had an i-Pod Nano for over a year, and I'm still just amazed! What a great invention. Wish Elvis could see them.
No more taking CD's (or tapes--yes I can even remember "records") to have music.
I have the 500-song capacity nano, but it's just amazing! I can't compare it to any other mp3's or anything--I just think how great these little gadgets are!
I have had NO problems with the Nano. I do have it in a clear case so it isn't scratched.
Do I need to even bother checking "I am over the age of 13"?
(My next "amazing invention" is going to be a GPS. I can't wait!)

Good for Commuting.......2007-05-21

I actually bought my Nano used (only 6 mo. old) from my brother-in-law upgrading to the iPod 80 gig. It holds all my songs but I've had to reformat as the songs began messing up - Never thought an audio file could run at higher speed. Think 45 rpm sped up to 78 rpm. Weird. I hated the iPod buds as they wouldn't stay in my ears. Wish I could delete songs direct from my iPod or at least when connected to my PC. Otherwise it helps alot with my dreary commute by train.

when i bought this product it says it was display ipod's and wasn't any damage to the product what so ever.. The ipod i received looked like a dog literally was chewing on the thing. I wouldn't recommended ever doing business with this person

bought this item in march of 2006. love the slim design, music sounded great and functionality was great! 2 months after purchase it broke...had it replaced promptly (great customer service) free of charge. i stopped using it after this time, picket it up back up again in december of 2006. it broke...AGAIN... this time the warranty had run out and i purchased an extended warranty on it ($40!!!!!!) and they replaced it again.

3 months later...it has broken...again! and they cannot find my extended warranty. this is not user error because everytime it broke i received a different error and a different reason for why it stopped working. i am wondering if they just keep giving me refurbished nanos or something.

i am never going to buy an ipod for myself or for anyone else ever again!

Looked Great.......2007-06-30

I bought this for my wife and she wasn't very happy with it. It was very easy to use and the display using the IPod is a great idea, but... The FM signal was very weak and the size wasn't as convient as I thought it was going to be. She went back to using the "Griffin Technology 9781-TRP30BK iTrip FM Transmitter with LCD and Dock Connector for iPod". I think this was a great idea that missed the target for us.

I purchased my iTrip nano from amazon just a few days ago and today it arrived.

the overall look matches the 1st gen nano perfectly. Yet I can see that the sticky pad will only last for so long and without it the nano sicks out at the top by about 2 mm. The antenna is easily found at the base on the back around the griffin label. The usb connection from the iTrip to my computer is a usb mini type connector the same as the psp and a few other mp3 players I own but the connection is just as good as the apple usb cord. The sound quality in a house is as good as the radio stations that come in well even through a wall and 15 feet of air. I have not tried in a car but i can not imagine it being that bad. overall it was defiantly worth the price at less than 20 dollars with shipping.

Griffin iTrip 9631: It's only for Gen 1 Nano.......2007-04-07

I have both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Nanos. I bought this for the Gen 2, only to find out that it will not connect. Apple reoriented the plug and the phone jack that it will not connect to this particular iTrip.

I still can use it for my Gen 1 Nano.

It works fine and the design compliments the Nano quite nicely. It gives good reception provided you set it to an unused radio station. It also has a USB jack so that you can charge your Nano while in use in the car. Overall a good buy.

Amazon: Please indicate that this will not work on Generation 2 Nanos.

Unless your laptop's soundcard is not working, or your speakers are barely hearable I wouldn't recommend this. Odds are your laptop does as much as these speakers.

It is well built, looks resistant and it does a decent job. Do not expect very good quality.

I really thought the reviews for this item were probably a little over-blown, but the speakers have proven me wrong. As someone who primarily uses their laptop on the go, I have been looking for a set of small, easily transportable, decent sounding speakers. These fit into all three categories. I am pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the sound that they put out. If you're strictly an audiophile, you'd be better off investing in a good set of Bose headphones, but if you need something to quickly and efficeintly plug and play so other people can hear what is on your laptop, then you won't find a better buy for your money.

Super easy to put on. Looks very very cool, like a truck tire. Makes finding my iPod in my jumbly purse a breeze. I don't use the belt clip and I don't notice the hole in the back at all.

I orginally had purchased this for road travel along with a Itrip.

Both Work great but i have to dislocate my ipod out of the case for my itrip to properly fit.

But other then that i had no real trouble taking my ipod in and out of the case.

Speck ToughSkin for iPod Nano.......2007-01-14

The thick rubber cover was difficult to get installed evenly. Internal friction on the rubber wanted to prevent smooth alignment. I still can't get the function wheel centered in the Speck cover. The display cover isn't all that securely held, and I worry that it may fall out & get lost. The thickness of the rubber along the bottom prevents some headphones from fitting all the way into the Nano with the Speck cover on it. Although the thick rubber seemed like a good idea for preventing damage to my Nano, if I had to do it over again, I'd probably not have bought this.

I Just picked up the nano a few days ago. Iheard about the problems with the screen scratching so I just left the plastic it comes with over the face (Why most people don't leave it there is beyond me) and stuck it in the case. I've dropped it a couple of times with no damage. the only problem about the case is when you try to put it in your pocket the rubber tends to catch on your pocket and not just slide in. Otherwise it's a good choice

Well to start off, the positive about this product, the material its made out of is really durable, and i like it, it really does protect your nano, they were easy to put on and the screen protecters are great, but the negative,and why i gave this product one star,but if i had to give it no stars for being such [...] than i would, it doenst fit the nano right, it doesnt cover a great portion of the bottom of the nano, you really have to fight to get to the hold button, part of the cover hangs over on the screen so its hard to see what your looking at and since its too small for the nano the cover also hangs over on your selector which causes it to push the buttons on it, so u could be listening to a song and then it shuts off because the cover is pushing the button! honestly i will be returning this item, it is durable to make it thu a year in in iraq, but the bottom half of my nano will be ruined! dont waste your money on this product

Best Nano Cover?.......2006-11-15

Let me start by stating; You need to cover the Nano. It gets scratched, worn and ugly very quickly without a case and this case covers all the bases; moisture protection, improved grip, scratch resistance, drop protection, access to controls and ports. I have tried a few covers for my Nano, this has been my favorite. The "dirty half-dozen" reasons to buy:
1. tight fitting cover that does not slip off (I have had this happen with leather covers)
2. rubber material assures good grip even with sweaty hands (do you work out with your nano?)
3. hard plastic cover for screen really protects and lasts a long time (the soft vinyl covers offered with most other cases scratch and tear rather easily)
4. A three pack! (Share with friends and family? change your clothes? change the case!)
5. Excellent price/value (compare with other products out there you will see what I mean)
6. Looks good, does not spoil the Nano's visual appeal (important since we all love the look of our Nano, no?)

The speck skin tight cover is easy to put on and really helps protect from the minor bumps and bangs. The screen protector is also nice, as it seems like it would be easy to scratch without it. It does add some bulk to the Nano, but it makes me feel much better about tossing it in a pocket, bag or on a table...well worth the investment.

Nano Skin Tight Single cover w/screen protector.......2006-11-06

I purchased two of the covers for our Nanos based on the reviews on how easily they scratch - I see now where Apple has upgraded the cases to minimize this now. However, I have ocassionally dropped my Nano and the case protected it plus the thin rubber case make it easy to grab without adding too much thickness and still allows earphone hookups and viewability of the screen - a best buy for the price, especially if you use your Nano at the gym, running, biking, etc.

A Perfect Fit.......2006-07-16

I had just received an iPod Nano as a gift this week and knew that I would need to somehow protect it without adding a ton of bulk to it.

Doing an internet search I found several skins for the Nano but decided on this one after reading the reviews on it.

I made the right choice, this rubber skin fits the Nano like a glove without adding any bulk to it, your grip is improved, a nice layer of rubber surrounds the fragile Nano and all the ports are easily accessed plus the screen is protected.

I highly recommend this product to protect your investment and it looks really cool too.

I was searching the local stores for a case to protect my nano and none had what I wanted, which was a protective skin with a screen protector. I either found ones that allowed access to the ports but had no screen protector or a hard clear plastic one that completely protected the nano but was useless since it didn't allow you access to the connector or even the use of third party headphones.

This does the job perfectly. Sure, the nano is not as gorgeously thin as it would be without it, but then it isn't exactly huge with it on either. It wasn't difficult to push the nano into it and while it is difficult to get it out, due to the intentional snug fit, it is not impossible. You shouldn't need to keep removing it, since once it is on, you still have access to the connector and headphone socket as well as the hold button on top. It also doesn't restrict the headphone access to a single round hole like some, which would stop you using it with a car cassette adaptor for instance.

Once on, it still looks smart, and you feel that if you dropped it, you wouldn't have to worry about it getting scratched or chipped. The price was right, so I found it odd that one of the reviewers thought this was overpriced. He or she can't have looked at many cases, otherwise they'd soon realise that a lot of the ipod cases are are upwards of $25-$30 and more most places.

I don't think this case is as bad as everyone claims. I did'nt have a hard time sliding my ipod in and out of the thing.And i really like the screen protector and i'm pretty sure that if i drop my ipod with this thing on it will be safe.
