TOP GUN.......2003-05-17

This 1985 release appropriately takes on the feel of the "techno pop" so evidenced in Tom Cruise's "Top Gun" movie. Weisberg was influenced by the famous Blue Angels, so he tries to make the selections take on the feeling of fearless and innovative flying. As always, Weisberg succeeds. A class flutist, he assembles other talented musicians and vocalists to create a cohesive set of eleven outstanding songs. It's a shame it's out of print; I managed to get a copy from E-Bay, and it's well worth it.
RECOMMENDED if you can find it!

Amazing underground effort........2004-08-06

Prophetix, is basically a southern underground hip-hop group, takes the typical underground sound, flips it with the help of Producer Jon Doe and others, and adds a whole cartload of energy to the whole thing.

There is not one bad beat on the album from Doe or the other producers, especially with True Urban Grit. The flute loop is freaking amazing. MC's Eddie Meeks and Mello Melanin complent the vocals nicely with a southern swager but with intense lyrical ability at the same time. Not the best underground rap album ever, but that fact can be overlooked. The album is packed with hip hop energy that is unique.
