When Marley Marl had the group on his show, he asked them to give a couple of Freestyles, and when they did, Marl almost fell off his seat. They ruled! He through them on a slew of mixtapes, by various producers, during the "Can't stop the mixtape 90's" and bfore you knew it, they made 1996 big beat records. classic cd, "The Turnaround: A Long Awaited Drama.
Equipped with 15 Head noddin' tracks, co produced by legend marley marl, and some guest emcees like ghostface, cappadonna, lord tarik, and killa sin, these guys knew that their place in Hip-Hop has finally arisen.

And despite what the others say, the beats were, and still are slammin', and the production was off the hook. To all the kids of today, you can listen to whatever hip-hop you want, but there is nothing like the stuff of the 90's and earlier to make you appreciate GOOD RAP!
Peace
I don't know what happend..........2004-04-12
I first heard of these guys listening to the then Marley Marl and Pete Rock show, Future Flavors on one of thos so-called 'Hot' stations who keep playing the same songs over and over and over and over again in NYC and I am sure across the nation. I miss Marley marl. I loved the way he would only play it if it was hot regardless of who you were or how much money you had to pay people off. WBLS, you messed up big time!!
Now, Marley marl would play these guys on his show. I would keep hearing hot beat after hot beat. While I was not crazy about Larry O's look and the whole 70's vibe that people in the 1990's thought was going to be big again (damn those non-creative fashion designers...), the beats were hot! Even the title song was hot! I believe they had a video for it. This was one of the most underrated albums. I just don't know what happened. They had Rap City rotation. You would think that something would have made them more visible. I tried to put them on to a friend of mine, but he could not and would not get down with them. I asked why, all he could say was the look, the name...
While they may not be around anymore(?), I would say that picking this one up you can't go wrong. If for nothing else, to hear what I thought was going to be - a stunna. 70% of the songs are hot with some of the hottest beats ever heard. The rest are ok. If I was a rapper, I would have to put some of those beats on my next single!
The only drawback is a lot of the subject matter. In the mid 90's,rapper were stuck on the Italian mob personas and the 'I'm the biggest drug dealer in the world' personas. Cleary these topics are false, just as all of these rappers (still) talking about the many ways to kill people today. I like varied topics. I hate hearing about amazing feats that were never true, but presented as true. Too many rappers talk that. There are many rappers that people never heard of and for good reason. These guys you may not have heard of, but this album was hot.
hopefully this way raise the average!.......2004-02-19
Quite a few standouts, although is not a straight through listen, most of the tracks are quite incredible!
Definate recommended buy for fans of "REAL" hardcore east coast... not some braveheart "I pop gats" ish!
