5 out of 5 stars good.......2007-06-20

i think overall da band are all lyrically talented but suffer from p diddys control over their music. because of this, a lot of the songs are club songs with no substance what-so-ever to be found but something about some of these kats just draws me into their verses. there are a couple of wack ones but da band has some talented rappers.

3 out of 5 stars This is a lot better than expected.....................2007-04-19

Loved "Making The Band". Especially Lil Fred giving it to Big Ness. Musically, this joint could have been better if they had been able to get Dylan on a few more joints. To me Dylan was the only unique member of the group. Everybody else was disposable except for maybe Choppa(A Bootleg Turk from the Hot Boys) and Fred. Babs was not good enough.

4 out of 5 stars Painfully good.......2006-08-10

TOO HOT FOR TV, is the name of this album, from that infamous group Da Band... I used to see that program and I really hated it, it was like these sh**** reality shows that are made here in mexico called "La Academia", where in most of cases are full of untalented dudes. The difference is that Babs, Sara, Fred, Young City, Dylan and Ness have quite more talent. They gave more than they could to do this and it deserves more... At least I think so, there's a lot of pain and drama behind the album and that, along with Sara's and Ness's lyrics made it quite good (Overall rating 3.8=4)

3 out of 5 stars What happened????.......2006-04-20

In the Uk, they only finished showing the Making the band series in 2005 and after finishing watching, I immediiately sort out to get this album thinking I need to catch up on what I missed out. Kids with such raw talent and great potential who didn't get the chance to shine...Their lp must have some fire on it surely? .... Boy I was wrong?!!!

Seriously what happened? Ness had the total package, and he is obviously going to be a big solo man, Babs, though she can get a bit repititve still had the flow to pull it off, Chopper, may have been a wannabe but you gots to love him anyway, Fred was fresh and original, Dylan did his dancehall ting, which is popular these days and Sara was aite. Aite being she had a good voice but not the personality for the band, I think that they should have had a more 'gutter' singer. She was too nice and a bit of a moaner, but still we aint all perfect.

Talent you cant deny, and potential to do big things, but what happened with this album? Poor overall production! The beats are mostly mdediocre, with only 'Hold Me Down' and wyclefs track and 'Bad Boy this' with any real power. And then what is going on with having everyone spittin on every other track! This aint suppposed to be no mixtape! The hooks were mediocre at best and song choice was a bit weak.

Saying all that, the rappers on the album did have some good bars, ofcourse, Ness, showed why he's Diddy's favourite, coz he too good. Part from that it was all drips and drabs from the others. This album did disappoint me, and this album is one of those which you have a one or two favourites you put on to remind you of the wannabe rappers who had so much potential but fade into the sea of 'didn't quite make it'.

2 out of 5 stars My honest opinion on this CD.......2005-09-28

Overall i would say that this effort from bad boy's DA BAND is weak. The majority of the songs (production & rhymes) are very mediocre. The only songs worth listening to is the first release "BAD BOY THIS BAD BOY THAT, DO YOU KNOW, and HOLD ME DOWN. The group as a whole is nothing special. The only emcees who have anything to offer are BABS and E.Ness. And if you can remember the tv show, they were also the most focused in their position aswell as in the studio. CHOPPER shouldnt have been picked to be in DA BAND at all. The only thing special about FRED is his unique rough sounding voice, but his flow needs work. And this is from the guy whose head blew up the most on the show. You'd think that he'd have something to bring--with all that cockiness. Sara Stokes sounds like any around the way girl who can carry a tune.No she does not sound better than FAITH EVANS, she doesnt evan come close. DYLAN came with some cool caribbean infused rhymes, which is cool but not good enough to make him stand in the group to pursue a solo career and put him in the runnings with VYBEZ KARTEL, ELEPHANT MAN, or BEENIE MAN. I really hoped they could pull off a great album together and make the best out of the oportunity P.DIDDY gave them but they failed miserably. Maybe it's PUFFY'S fault due to his poor talent scouting and investment with this group, or maybe the blaim all falls on DA BAND. Afterall, it's their album.

5 out of 5 stars HOT HOT HOT.......2003-10-07

this cd is sick. every song on the cd is tight. most of the band members have a good amount of lyrics on the tracks. i love the song "living legends" and the new single "bad boy this, bad boy that" is amazing. the beats are off the hook and this is a must buy for people who like hip-hop music

5 out of 5 stars Too Hot for TV and for other too understand........2003-10-05

The ENTIRE CD IS HOT...Look it took 3 weeks to do the whole thing. The quality is there, the lyrics is there. Cop' this! Everyone on the CD gets to shine, even though sara is missing on some of the tracks, she hold her own on "Go Steady" my personally favority. Keep your head up! Lovin the vibe!

5 out of 5 stars What's Really.......2003-10-03

3 out of 5 stars Good could have been great if they had more Production Time.......2003-10-01

The Cd is OK.. but I'm gonna fault the production on this one. Everyone sounds good. But on many of the tracks the beats dont blend well with the flavor of the artists.

What makes Nelly and Jay Z hot are their own styles. You have Brooklyn, Miami, Philly and Jamaican representing here but all you feel is Bad Boy's imprint but where's the group's identity?.
There are a few stand outs. The bank robbery track with Ness and Fred is especially hot.Tonight is on FIREEEEEEEE.and sara has a cute R & B cut ' Go Steady'

Ness comes out the most seasoned. Choppa ( Now changed to 'Young City )is doin his thing. Babs is no joke. We dont get much of Dylan on this CD.. a few tracks. (I guess his behavior really did mess up his getting on the CD more)and Fred shows he prefers it grimey and gritty. Lastly, Sara shows she has the pipes to show she can sing but She needs to show more 'Attitude'in her voice ( Please schedule another appt with Betty Wright POST HASTE)if she wants to blend in with the other group members.

P Diddy had 3 weeks to put it all together. I think thats where the problem lies. For a seasoned artist .. No problem but HERE? Hell I KNOW I heard Sara hit a sour note on 'Do You know' and that is the kind of thing you can fix in the damn lab.I know all of it aint Diddy's fault but he should have taken more time. The CD will probably go gold maybe even platinum. Theres a lot of potential but the group needs producers who can be more in tune to their vibe. Dylan has much skills but the production he was given?.. what was that... Reggae Lite? Sean Paul is barfin all over that and Shabba is flippin da middle finger on it.

The solo careers of the six should do well if they are given time to mature and grow. Its a pretty good Cd that I will be listening too for many months to come. It's just not as great as fans of the show know it should've been and hoped it would've been. A very solid effort for the first release.
