Busta Rhymes opens his second album with a ridiculous monologue predicting global destruction before the year 2000. The only thing in danger of vaporizing over the next two years is Rhymes's career. Listening to Busta's gruff voice for well over an hour is an endurance test of the highest order, especially after MTV and radio have relentlessly subjected listeners to his "Woo-haa!" battle cry. Thankfully, Busta makes his pipes contort in every way possible on When Disaster Strikes... From mellow to wild, over an eclectic mix of samples that range from Seals & Croft to KC & the Sunshine Band to Henri Mancini. Sean "Puffy" Combs produces a track called "The Body Rock" that sounds like an old-school Tribe Called Quest cut, while Erykah Badu helps Busta forget the rampant sexism and violence for a minute as the unlikely duo gets spiritual on "One." Disaster avoided...for now. --Aidin Vaziri

5 out of 5 stars More classic Busta Rhymes coming at ya.......2007-02-14

Busta Rhymes was on a roll. His first album The Coming, was a hip hop classic in its own right and he keeps it moving with his second effort. This album is more of the schizophrenic Busta Rhymes I remember and not the stranger Im seeing now. Songs like THE WHOLE WORLD LOOKIN AT ME, SURVIVAL HUNGRY, TURN IT UP, PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE MY EYES COULD SEE(Crazy song, even crazier video), RHYMES GALORE, THERE'S NOT A PROBLEM MY SQUAD CANT FIX, WE COULD TAKE IT OUTSIDE, ONE(one of Busta's best duets with Erykah Badu). DANGEROUS(another hot single with a weird but tight video) and GET OFF MY BLOCK keep this album in constant rotation. Filler: Get High Tonight is the worst weed record since.........Ludacris's Blueberry Yum Yum! The Body Rock also sucks plus why oh why would you make a track with Puffy and Mase(hip hop's Pinky and The Brain)? WHY?. Bottom Line: Busta's second album When Disaster Strikes proves that Busta is no flash in the pan. Hot production, super lyrics from Busta Rhymes and company are all the recipes for success on this album.

FOUR AND A HALF stars. Busta is a great mc let alone a great entertainer. he leaves you singing along with the songs ie."put your hands where my eyes can see" which is very hard to do with me. when i first heard that song i went crazy and had to get this album. I still listen to is since the time i bought it.

4 out of 5 stars Busta Rhymes - When Disaster Strikes.......2006-03-16

A really really good Busta Rhymes album. Im givin it about 4.5/5 since it falls barely below 5. A lot of the tracks on here got really good production. The types of beats that Busta can rip on any day. Lyrically, Busta Rhymes does a straight job. Some songs on here are decent, but skippable also. Alot of the tracks are worth the whole listen. But dont get me wrong, you should definately go pick this album up. Its really good. Busta always gots those uptempo beats and voice. If you like any other Busta music, youll definately like this album, without a doubt. Go check it out!!!
